A training simulation was always a good way to test how the latest recruits operated but as Ayumi went over the new manifest she looked at what was around to use. "Where the hell are the war ships?" Her face reflected a look of severe disapproval when they were at war and now had no ships. Worse then that they had most gear decommissioned on top of it and her face reflected her annoyance. "Who gets rid of working ships when there are no replacements? We can't defend Anaxas with cruisers they'll be torn apart by most enemy fleets."

She wasn't speaking to anyone around her just more to herself and the captain of the ship was joining her. "Senator, what would you like to do?" With a look upon him she sat back in the seat and raised an eyebrow. "The ones who wanted to practice in the fleets will get their chance. Contact them and tell them there will be a small fleet for them gathered. We'll go over the rules when they arrive and." She gave a shrug there would be something she supposed. The message was sent and Ayumi rose from the seat crossing her arms over her bodysuit and starring out at the stars.

"I want the ships here and ready for when they arrive, targeting solutions and as many safeties enacted."
Each played will have ten Nixor Class cruisers totaling 5500meters of ship length to organize and use when they arrive.

Ensign Atticus Savar sat in the cockpit of the Justice-Class Shuttle serving as his transport to his first duty assignment. Sitting in the co-pilots chair Atticus monitored the comm for any non Republic signals along their path looking and listening for anything suspicious during the trip. He had heard stories both in his childhood and at the Academy about pirates waiting for ships to venture into the wrong system or take the wrong path. Occasionally Atticus would check the navicomputer for updates to the ETA.

When he wasn't doing that he flipped through his holopad looking at the public information and specs on commonly used Republic vessels as well as any unclassified reports on recent engagements with enemy forces. Atticus knew two things were important while on duty, staying busy and staying productive. Since there had been little advance notice or information on his destination Atticus reviewed what he had learned so far in his training.

His thoughts were interrupted as the ship exited hyperspace at their destination and the Captain announced their arrival to who Atticus hoped was his new Commanding Officer. Atticus put away the holopad and instinctively smoothed out any wrinkles in his uniform to ensure he presented a clean and pressed appearance. Looking unprofessional and sloppy was no way to report into his new CO.

"So is there any other information about this field exercise that I should know about sir?" the newly minted officer asked as he looked outside the window of the shuttle, gazing at the ship that he was assigned to, "It doesn't seem like they told me much about what was going to happen." The older co-pilot tapped the shoulder of his comrade before chuckling, and then turned back in his seat to give a smirk while playing with his thick white mustache.

"You'll do just fine today sir. It's merely practice, so there is nothing for you to be concerned about." The man turned back to look out the front towards the approaching ship, leaving Gar'Hal to become slightly embarrassed at just how easy it was to see that he was nervous. He was making an absolute fool of himself before the practice even began! Soon enough the pilot began their final approach to the exercise area, the young officer leaning back into his seat as they came out of hyperspace, and whether he was afraid or not didn't matter now that they were here.

"This is shuttle-2 reporting in, and we've got Ensign Velasura in tow." The pilot said after opening the comm channel, "We're awaiting further orders."

Gar'Hal looked out of the view-port and saw the ships assembled there, and the sight of it all began to replace his fear of failure with a swelling pride. It took work to graduate from the academy, but he had made it. Now he was here to prove that it was not all a waste.

Atticus looks over at the scanner as another Republic Shuttle appears on the screen turning.

"Looks like we are not the last ones to arrive." "This is a really good sign or a bad one."

Atticus wondered to himself why here and why now. He had spent the last few minutes waiting for clearance to dock trying to piece together their presence here fit into the grand scheme of the Republic's recent engagement with hostiles. Sure it seemed like a good idea to do briefings in person rather than over comms but his orders had been uncharacteristically vague in comparison to the hours spent learning and practice page after page on the various types of orders from duty assignments to all out war declarations. Most were at least two pages long where the one that sent him here was barely half a page.

Atticus scratched his chin absently has he continued to monitor the screens in front of him.

Ayumi continued to look out the view port when the ships arrived and she heard the voice coming in. "This is Senator Ayumi, welcome, you'll be takent o your fleets and given time to set up. When we begin targeting solutions will determine kills and victory." She walked on the bridge and spoke more. "We shall see what can be done and work to sharpen your skills or at least make it so you won't die. Either way I hope you are ready boys." Her smile came to enjoy it at the thought of fighting here in this large open space was soemthing few would see or intrude upon.

Gar'Hal listened to the words of the illustrious senator and watched as the pilots received their corresponding orders, turned the shuttle to head towards their assigned ship, and landed in the hangar bay. Once disembarked the ensign was quickly led to the bridge of his command vessel, where he moved to stand near the view-port and look at the rest of his small fleet as an orderly moved before him and saluted.

"Sir, under the orders of the senator you are given this ship, The Countess, to use as your command vessel for the duration of this exercise. The fleet is ready to receive your orders, and we will follow them to the letter no matter what as long as you prove capable."

Gar'Hal felt himself swelling up with pride at being addressed this way, and the nervousness he felt before was slowly replaced by a desire to win. He raised his own salute, then spoke as if he already believed himself to be an aged veteran, "I'll do my best to earn that loyalty then. Now let's discuss formations."

He then dropped his salute and the orderly followed suit before pulling out a datapad that had the various ships of the fleet on a small holo-display. Soon they would be ready, and hopefully he would be able to gain the upper hand with his idea, but only time would tell once the exercise began. In the back of his mind Gar'Hal wondered if the other ensign felt the way he did now, and also if he would be too much of a challenge.

Atticus listens as the Senator speaks a mix of confusion and intrigue flashes across his face hearing the female voice. Shaking it away Atticus replies quickly

"Acknowledged Senator Ayumi."

Atticus watches out the cockpit as the pilot flies the shuttle towards his apparently temporary home the "Archimedes." Atticus quickly skims through the specs on the ship one last time before hailing the "Archimedes."

"Archimedes this is Ensign Savar requesting permission to dock?" "Please have the XO meet me when I dock."

After landing in the docking bay Atticus makes his way down the ramp to the waiting officer snapping a Salute to the Senior man actually relieved to see some one of experience on board to help out for the sake of the crew if he screws up.

"Sir Ensign Atticus Savar." "With permission I would like to take some time to tour the vessel before entering the bridge." "I would like to get to know the ship first hand instead of just relying on blueprints standard to the ships of the Class."

After returning the salute the XO nods leading the way as they went to the main areas of the ship with Atticus takes note of the important strengths and weaknesses of the ship before they stopped first so Atticus could drop off what little personal effects he had brought and then entered the Bridge. When the Bridge crew snapped to at his and the XOs arrival Atticus nodded to them.

"At ease."

Atticus the addresses the Bridge crew.

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for permitting me to join you today." "I will be relying on the experience you all have to get through this engagement with the highest possible success." "I do not know what the good Senator has cooked up for us but if we all focus on our combined training and experienced mixed with a little ingenuity I am confident we will be up to the task."
