RED-1 is built much like a Zed 501-Police Droid, but is slightly larger. It has a dirty, dark body with dull red markings.
RED-1 is one of the most remarkable units ever rebuilt by Crash, a company known for refurbishing droids for medical and rescue duties. Standing two meters tall with a heavy crimson frame, RED-1 looks like a machine built to shoulder danger. What sets it apart is the original 501-Z programming under its plating. Unlike most droids, RED-1 is eager, helpful, and undeniably driven to save lives. Its purpose is locked in at the core. It cannot be reprogrammed.
RED-1 is a medical and rescue specialist programmed to support more than 10,000 languages and communication protocols. It can operate almost any sensor array and is strongest in medical practice. RED-1 can diagnose injuries and illnesses, perform complex surgery, and handle emergency care under extreme pressure. Outside medicine, it can repair computers, ships, and other droids at a basic level. Its engineering expertise enables it to identify the safest routes through wreckage, assess structural risks, and support ship or crash-site investigations.
When someone is in danger, RED-1 pushes itself to the limit. It risks damage, even destruction, to pull a person free or to stabilize a patient. Its reinforced frame shrugs off punishment, and its sensors and holorecorder help it analyze hazards and record events for later review.
RED-1 has no built-in weapons. Its large arms could tear bulkheads apart, but it avoids lethal force at all costs. It will use strength only to rescue or defend, and only when innocent lives are not put in danger. It carries built-in armor and can strap external armor to its frame if doing so improves its ability to protect others.
