Eriadu | ARMOR | w. [member="McKenna Rory"]
The Confederacy of Independent Systems had seen better days, there was no one who deny that point. Several high profile deaths had occurred which made people wonder if the titanic of a nation was sinking. To combat this notion, the research and development divisions were all tasked and mobilized to roll out a series of new battle droids which were said to help the Confederacy combat some of the failings experienced because of the weaknesses some of these battle seemed to uncover. Of course that was not going to be possible with the prototype of a newly developed core processor which had been stolen.

Kaden could not believe his luck, as he was once again tasked with an off world mission. More than anything he simply wanted time to himself, and with [member="Daisy Americus"], alone, and on Haseria, the plant both now called home. The dar'manda, as they had been labeled by those who claimed the mantle of true mandalorians, had made a home among the Confederacy on the agricultural world, and while it was not Mandalore or Concord Dawn, it served the purpose that was needed.

Reading the file on the mission had helped Kaden prepare for the task ahead. His armor would always be worn to such things, after all he wanted to live. Twin pistols and his rifle were the only weapons he was going to need, and if stealth was required then the rifle would simply be left behind. The face of his pilot was new. Kaden had not met the young ace before today, and was curious if she was really as good as her test scores seemed to indicate. Splitting time between the military and intelligence agencies had its perks, and Kaden took advantage of them all the time.

Their destination, Eriadu.

The world had been controlled by both the Galactic Alliance and the First Order, so it was no surprise the processor had been tracked to a research facility on the jungle planet. What Kaden did not know was who had it and why. Part of the mission was to recover the asset, and the rest was to get answers. Hopefully he could count on the pilot to be an asset in the mission and not someone he was going to have to train on the go. He was waiting for her at the loading ramp of their assigned ship for the mission. Kaden was early.

McKenna had been waiting a long time for her first assignment, meanwhile she had been getting a feel for the structure of military life on a base. She found it somewhat boring but it also had given her time to use the training simulator and try out most of the starfighters and light cruisers that she would have access to based upon her missions (Should she ever receive any).

It was on her 8th morning on the base that she had gotten a summons from her C.O. Upon getting to his office he addressed her, telling her that she had a mission. The look on the redheads face was priceless, she was so excited to finally see some action. She was told that she would be given her choice of the ship she would use for this mission. Before dismissing her he handed her a datapad and told her to report to the armory to equip for the mission.

Upon being dismissed she would hastily make her way to the armory whilst looking through the datapad that was given to her. It gave her all the information she would need for this assignment. Having reached the armory she would get set up with a standard set of lightweight armor a BAW-88 Carbine and a 2 CSP "sidekick" handguns. Once equipped she made her way back out of the armory and to the Hangar, it was then she selected her ship. A Convor-class Scout Ship, a fast and light ship though it had little armaments or shielding but it was invisible to enemies scanners and that was the biggest thing for her on this operation.

Upon arriving at the ship she noted the man and spoke in her typically soft voice "Hello sir"

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Sir? That was new. Kaden was not used to being addressed in such a formal manner. Even when he fought by the Mandalore's side, Kaden had never been called sir. The formality was too much, and Kaden shrugged it off as he pushed off the outer hull of the ship.

"Kaden is going to be just fine," he said once he powered down the file. "As long as I can call you McKenna," he added before punching in the access code for the ship they had signed out for the mission.

She was young and green, Kaden determined as he looked her over. Why he was getting a fresh graduate on this mission was beyond him, but if the brass had faith in her, then Kaden supposed he should. Her test scores indicated she was not going to get him killed, but Kaden knew there was difference between simulators and actual hostile fire. This mission was likely to put this pilot in the position to evade, and Kaden hoped she would hold up under the pressure.

His hand motioned for her to board the ship.

"Ladies first," he said realizing how much Daisy was actually rubbing off on him. Kaden sighed as he chuckled to himself at the idea. "Why don't you get us out of atmosphere and then I'll brief you on the critical details that the report didn't include."

There were always other things to think about.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

The lack of formality threw McKenna off for a moment, However she welcomed the change, she knew that not everyone was going to be as ridged as her current C.O.’s.

She nodded to the man as he said ladies first. She stepped past him and up the loading ramp, this was her ship of choice because it was light and fast so if she needed to run she could. On this mission she knew that stealth and speed would far outweigh firepower. For if they were caught there most likely wasn’t a ship of any less size than a frigate that would have the amount of firepower they would need. So speed it was.

As she took her place in the pilot’s seat she would reach up and flip a switch to prime the fuel system and then hit the ignition switch. As the engines fired up the small redhead grinned. Placing her right hand on the throttle and her left hand on the stick she would check that all systems were in the green. Upon doing so she would get a call from the air traffic controller asking for their callsign. Upon doing so she would speak “Phoenix One requesting permission to lift off” Having received permission she would push the throttle forward feeling her petite body being pushed back in the seat as they moved forward, she would then pull back on the stick and lift off heading for the hangar doors. Soon they would leave the atmosphere of the planet.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Kaden strapped into the co-pilot seat. He was not an expert pilot by any mean, but he could do in a pinch. Daisy flew better between the two, and Kaden often deferred to her when they were able to work on missions together. He loved having those opportunities because the pair did make good partners on the battlefield as well. In fact, that was one of the reasons Kaden was so attracted to the blonde Mando. She was able to fight alongside the rest of them, even if she thought she was not as skilled as the others. Her innovation was something others did not seem to possess, and Kaden loved it. Had they pulled off some pretty impossible things, sure, and they could have died doing them, but that was all the fun. Today though, Kaden hoped that this pilot would keep things text book unless absolutely necessary. Every mission since the call to invade Taanab had been sent, Kaden had always left Daisy the same promise. He was going to come home.

A sigh was released when the ship broke atmosphere. The two were well on their way, and once the pilot threw the ship into auto-pilot, Kaden released his restraints. Wordlessly he walked back to the galley where he set to making a full pot of caf. The black liquid was the only thing close to a controlled substance he was going to consume before a mission. It would be enough to keep him alert, but also give him something to enjoy while briefing the pilot on their mission, and the intel which had been sent to the ship's central computer. With a steaming hot mug of caf in his hand, Kaden proceeded to the lounge. The table in the center doubled as holographic projector. One swipe pulled up the plans for the facility they were about to infiltrate.

Kaden sipped on his caf as he waited for the pilot to finish up everything she needed to in the cockpit before she could join him. When she had, Kaden zoomed the map out slightly.

"We will want to land 2 clicks out from the base to avoid their radar."

Perhaps Kaden could be more personable, but this was his nature with strangers. Scherezade and Daisy were the only two, aside from Selene, who had seen a side of him which was not the stoic and hardened warrior the netherworld had made him. Everything was going to be about business with anyone Kaden was assigned to work with, and nothing more. Small talk, that was something Kaden was not good at. Even early on with Daisy his best conversational skills came from trying to explain to her why he had seemed to latch onto her.

"Once we land we can use the jungle for cover. There is an entrance here," Kaden zoomed the map in to focus on the river, and a set of grated pipes which were attached to the main part of the facility which looked like a giant dam. "We are supposed to be able to track the frequency this prototype is admitting, provided their research department hasn't figured it out yet. It is one the Confederacy secured channels so chances are we might luck out."

Once they landed the pair could figure out if they could pick up the signal.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna was a very by the book person herself, she often followed the words in the military’s Code of Conduct to the letter. But if things really got desperate, she was also very skilled in improvisation. As she threw the ship into autopilot, she heard the man unstrap himself from the seat he had taken. She would take a few more moments just to look over everything she knew on the planet, as well as to check that everything was in place should they need a quick extraction from the planet.

As soon as she finished making her preparations, she would unstrap herself from the seat as well, she would have to jump from the seat as her feet dangled about 4 inches off the floor. Having landed on the hard floor of the ship she would take a deep breath; she knew that her commanding officer had faith that she could complete this mission or she would not have been placed on it.

Upon smelling the strong scent of Caf she would make her way toward the galley, she was a caf enthusiast herself. As soon as the man began to brief her on the mission details, she could tell that he was one of those all business no play types that she had met in her training.

As she was briefed she thought through all the possible things that could go wrong with the plan and started coming up with contingencies for all the scenarios that ran through her head, one of the main ones she was worried about was not being able to make it back to the ship so she had tapped into the ships system and had installed an emergency bypass that would allow her to pilot the ship from a distance of up to 3 clicks.

As the man finished she nodded saying “Got it” She said and as the briefing ended she would make her way back to the cockpit.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

The proximity alarm sounded as the ship neared the planet. Kaden remained in the lounge and finished his cup of caf, and downed a second one as he made his way back to the cockpit to strap back into the chair. His hands fumbled at the straps as the ship hit the atmosphere. Kaden’s hands gripped the arms of the chairs as the ship began to shake violently. This was the worst part of flying by far, and ever since his return from the Netherworld, Kaden had a strong distaste for it. As they cleared the stratosphere and leveled out his nerves leveled out as well.

Once they landed where they had agreed, Kaden undid the straps on the seat and moved for the boarding ramp. Had this been a drop ship his boots would have been on the ground right away. He preferred the drop ships of the CIS as opposed to other vessels, with the exception of Daisy’s gunship. A smirk tugged at his face as he recalled the maneuver she pulled, and the number of ships Kaden had taken out. This job was not going to be as difficult as blowing up the core of a military base.

With his boots on the ground, Kaden checked his armor and his weapons to ensure everything was in order. His helmet went on about the time the pilot came to his side, and Kaden nodded her direction as he took off toward the entrance of the facility. All they had to do was travel 2 clicks, find the river, and make it inside.

Easy.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

Mckenna would smile as the ship dropped out of Hyperspace, she felt at ease as she took the stick and began their entry into the atmosphere of the planet. The inertial dampeners took most of the strain as the ship entered the atmosphere but the small amount of shake there was in the cockpit gave McKenna a sense of security, it grounded her.

As they cleared the stratosphere and the turbulence cleared up Mckenna would slow the ship from the high speed they had found from their entry into the planet’s gravity well. She would level out the ship and head for the landing zone. Upon reaching it she would set the ship down gently and unhook her restraints. She looked at her gear before exiting the ship she checked to make sure the remote control she had attached to the ship’s computer was functional.

Once she had finished her checks she would head down the boarding ramp and upon her boots hitting the ground she hit the button raising the ramp back up. She looked at the man and upon him nodding she would set off in the direction of the river.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

The recon did not mention how many guards they would have to deal with once they got to the river. As far as Kaden was concerned their optimal entrance was going to be the one with the fewest guards. Why would anyone think to guard a pipe that was dumping wastewater into the river? The woods themselves provided the cover the pair needed to keep from being seen. Kaden was grateful to the environment control of his armor as the droplets of water on his visor seemed to indicate a high level of humidity in the air.

Once they reached the river, Kaden motioned to the bank. He ensured they were tied in on a secure comm link before saying anything. "Stick to the bank for now."

They walked the bank, the sound of the river rolling over the rocks which protruded from the surface. It was late in the year for the planet and yet the river seemed to be running faster than what was normal for the time of year. Kaden could only guess the planet had seen a few more storms than what was typical over the late summer months. It did not take long for them to reach their entrance, and Kaden grinned when he did not identify any guards.

His head turned to the pilot.

"File says you're a decent shot. Cover me. I'm gonna blow the bars so we can get in."

With that, Kaden made his way down the river bank and into the water. Upon reaching the bars, Kaden set the charges, and took several steps back. If anyone was close this was going to draw some attention. Kaden hoped no one was close.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna's footsteps were very near silent she had been trained in stealth as part of her training, she was originally supposed to become part of a special forces strike team. However, that plan had been put on the backburner for the moment as the lack of resources. As they made their way through the forest McKenna went back to her childhood on Corellia, As a little girl she was exposed to a life of crime, one of her earliest memories of this life had her stealing datapads and off loading them at dead drop points that were mostly wooded areas such as this one. This area took her back to that life she had known for so long that she felt a strange sense of calm from this area.

As they came around the bend in the river her grip on her blaster rifle tightened just a bit, she sensed that something was not correct here. As he asked her to cover him she would rest her blaster on her shoulder getting him aligned in her sights, she would track him down into the water and as he set the charges she would adjust her grip on the rifle preparing for the worst.

As soon as the explosion ripped through the silence she would stand up as she felt lifeforms moving toward them. She saw a small squad crest the hill and luckily before they saw them she took 4 shots and landed 4 kills before moving into the water to meet up with her man.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Kaden could feel the force at work as the sound of four blaster bolts rang from the rifle the red haired pilot was carrying. Her aim was precise, almost too precise. There would be time to discuss that later. For now Kaden was just happy her file had been right and that she had his shebs when he needed her to. The explosion was likely to attract more than the small team of four which came to check out the explosion.

Reaching for the holsters at his thighs, Kaden gripped the twin pistols he carried with him at all times. Apollo and Artemis had saved his life more times than he could count, and had taken just as many lives, if not more. He trusted them more than any other gun he had carried. The rifle slung over his shoulder was for precaution, an automatic carbine meant to cut down a large crowd. A beskad rest over his other shoulder, a close quarters weapon, deadly and strong. There was not a combat situation Kaden was not prepared for.

“Nice shooting,” the compliment was given as Kaden judged toward the opening with his head.

Passing through the bars, Kaden led the way leaving the rear for McKenna to guard. The pipe itself was empty save for the water which ran the dirty and polluted liquid out to the river. Each step echoed against the metal pipe, so Kaden lifted a finger to where his lips would have been on his helmet. It would only be a ten minute walk to the ladder which they needed to climb. Once again Kaden went first.

They pulled out of the sewer pipe inside a large maintenance room. Kaden waited for McKenna before locating the exit. Running an infrared scan for body heat, Kaden identified six guards.

“I’ll open the door. You step out and take the three on the right, I’ll follow and take the three on the left. Love fast, move quiet.”

Kaden’s fingers signaled.... 1... 2... 3... and then he opened the door.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna blushed a little bit as she was complimented on her shot, she had always been one to doubt her own abilities though she knew she had a gift that most did not. Right before the men had crested the ridge she felt a tingle in the back of her head and an urge to turn her weapon that direction. So she did, she trusted her instincts and they hadn’t lead her wrong thus far.

As the pair began their trip in the pipe she would move slowly and keep an eye on the entrance that loomed behind them. As they reached the exit the small redhead would come to a stand still beside the man. As he told her the plan she would nod.

Upon him opening the door she would creep out through the door her carbine in hand, she would quickly gun down the three guards on the right.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Kaden followed close behind McKenna as he had said. She quickly disposed of the three guards on the right, and Kaden followed suit with the guards on the left. His pistols fired six rounds in total one to the chest of each, and one to the head of each for good measure. There was no doubt now the facility had been breached as the pair moved their way past the guards. Fortunately if they kept moving they could avoid alarms until the bodies of the six guards were found. Kaden was already beginning to search through the schematics he had uploaded to his HUD in hopes of having another way out of the facility in case they needed it.

He led them further down the corridor in the direction of the prototype they had been sent to recover. It was supposed to be a straight shot, then the third hall on the right which would dead end into the room they were looking for. Kaden looked over his shoulder to make sure McKenna was keeping up with his rather quick pace. There was a nagging feeling that something about this mission was about to go terribly wrong and once again Kaden was going to have to explain to Daisy how he had managed to barely escape with his life intact once again.

Kaden was getting tired of doing that, but this was his life among the Confederacy. He had to earn credits somehow if he ever expected to finish the house he was building on Haseria, or if he ever wished on providing something to Daisy beyond just himself.

"We have to move fast. As soon as they see those bodies they'll be on to the breach. Once we get to door, I'm gonna need you to cover my six again so I can get us inside."

Kaden waited for McKenna to give him the nod or some kind of affirmative that she understood before stopping at the door.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna was not at all surprised when the man stepped out and fired off 6 shots in the span of about a second. Each hitting its mark spot on the small redhead’s grip on her carbine had not faltered, it was firm yet relaxed. The small girl was very surprised that the mission was going almost exactly the way it was planned, almost… That was until she nodded and the man went to open the door. It was then that alarm sirens began to blair! Though the room where the prototype was being held was empty McKenna knew that soon they would have enemies all over them.

As the man went to get the prototype she would hold her ground by the door way, very soon the first of the soldiers would round the corner and begin firing. She would begin to fire and upon dispatching the 4th or the men she would take knee to make herself a smaller target. “You may want to pick up the pace” She said as she dropped the 5th soldier.

It was at this point she was very glad she had put a slave rig on the ship. She knew the ship would get here quickly once she hit the button but she didn’t want to give the enemies a chance to damage the ship or even destroy it.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

The alarm sounded the moment Kaden walked through the door. Just great. He did not like to be rushed, and yet that was exactly what was happening. Somehow he managed to keep track of the number of shots McKenna had fired in the amount of time it took him to locate the prototype. Naturally it was locked away, which only meant his partner was going to have to keep firing.

"Hope you packed extra energy cells or whatever it is your blaster is running off of," Kaden said as he began to the line the door which stood between him and the prototype.

There was not a lot of need for explosive material, just enough to blast a hole big enough for Kaden to reach inside and get what he needed. Once the job was done, Kaden waved a bot of smoke out of his line of vision and reached in to grab the motherboard they had been sent to retrieve. Once he had it in his possession, Kaden secured it in one of the compartments on his utility belt. McKenna was going to need his help by now.

With a blink, Kaden pulled up the fastest route between them and nearest exit. If the schematics were right they didn't have far to go.

Stepping out of the room, Kaden fired off three rounds to finish the remaining three guards of that particular wave. They had decided to rush McKenna at once, just as Kaden stepped out.

"This way," Kaden said pointing east, "before the next wave gets here. Have the ship close... real close."

What Kaden didn't tell her was when they got to the exit, they were going to have to make a jump for it.

[member="McKenna Rory"]

Luckily for the both of them McKenna had brought plenty of energy cells, she knew that this was not gonna go well, between waves she quickly reloaded and continued to fire upon the men that seemed to come in never ending waves. Luckily McKenna had been known to keep a cool head, in her squad training sessions when they were put in situations under fire from enemy fortifications when others would lose their cool and run she could stand in and logically solve the problem. So being under fire didn’t rattle the small girl.

As soon as the man came out beside her, she reached over to her right wrist and hit a single button. This would call the ship to preset coordinates. She had already mapped out the quickest escape route, she had planned to have the ship just below it. She would reload as the pair started their way down the corridor.

As they turned the corner she would sense people coming around the corner just down the way, she gunned them down quickly saying “Im two steps ahead ship will be there”

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Kaden hoped she was right. While he did have a combat jetpack on his armor, Kaden wasn't too keen on having to grab the pilot and use it if the scenario could be avoided. The added weight would only make Kaden burn through the fuel faster, and he was not keen on falling to his death. Perhaps a close call would be fine. It had been a while since Kaden felt the exciting adrenaline of a disaster avoided pulsing in his veins. Kaden had played it far too safe since Taanab, but it was the result of keeping his promise to [member="Daisy Americus"]. When he was ghost she wanted him as far away from her as possible, now, it seemed as though she never wanted him to leave. It was odd how things changed with time, and ironic they would find each other among the living. Of all the people it could have been, the irony it was Daisy was not lost on Kaden at all.

More guards were killed on the run. McKenna was too accurate for her skill to be natural. They were going to talk about it on the way back to Hesaria, yes, Kaden was going to have her take him straight back to his home. The force had surrounded him his whole life. From the orders to suppress it, to having the make up of his very existence changed by the Netherworld, not once, but twice, the force had forced its way into Kaden's life. It was the gift Selene had given him to get his revenge against those who had wronged him. Kaden's problem was the same as McKenna's, what came natural needed to be honed. At least Kaden could help the pilot learn what he had so far.

Three more guards, three more headshots, Kaden was not wasting time or ammunition on this escape. His boots carried him to the edge where the ship was supposed to meet them. Without any thought Kaden pushed ahead and leaped into the air.

It was going to be the moment of truth. Was the ship there or not?

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna was not thinking as she took the shots, she trusted her instincts enough to know that they most likely wouldn't lead her wrong thus far, so she wasn't going to stop trusting it now. As the two of them continued along the small redhead had to take twice as many steps as her partner, being as she was half his height her strides were shorter, but she kept up with him.

As they turned the corner McKenna went through everything she had done to insure their victory on this mission. She had chosen a ship built for speed a stealth, one that was easily fitted with a slave rig allowing McKenna to program coordinates into the ship and have it operate on its own when getting to the coordinates programmed and lower the bridge with the press of the button on her wrist.

Upon coming to the edge McKenna jumped off without a second thought, for a moment the small pilot felt weightless. But just a moment later her feet landed on the hard durasteel that made up the ramp. She knew that she had made one mistake and that was not telling the man where to jump at, he would have missed the ramp by a foot. She hadnt noticed the jetpack on his back at the moment so instead she would reach out and grab his wrist, she had no clue where she found the strength but she held on and pulled the man back onto the ramp.

Having done so she would let him go first as she covered him and then making her way up the ramp she closed it and ran for the cockpit, upon making it she took the controls and went full throttle.

[member="Kaden Farr"]

Kaden leaped, and missed. He was about to fire up his jetpack when a hand reached out and grabbed him. The woman possessed a great deal of strength to hold onto him, though Kaden eas certain the weight of his armor would not let her hold for long. Kaden boosted the jetpack just enough to give himself a bump on to the loading ramp. As soon as she let go of him, Kaden nodded his head and waited for her to wander off to the cockpit. Another mission, and another close call. Daisy was not going to be happy, though, Kaden supposed she didn't need to know how close of a call it had been. Besides the jetpack would have gotten him on the ship anyway, so it really wasn't as close a call as his mind wanted to make it out to be originally.

The mandalorian took his helmet off and went right to the lounge. He needed more caf, and when the pilot was ready she would come back for something to drink. There was still the matter of the fact he could feel the force in her, and the pilot was going to need a teacher if she was going to hone the raw skill she possessed. Kaden had learned that he needed to develop the raw force power in himself after a meeting with his friend Scherezade. She had taught him to use a lightsaber, and the one lesson led him to wanting to search out a teacher. Whether she was able to be that teacher or not, at least the woman had pushed him in the direction she needed to go.

A long sigh escaped Kaden, and when the pilot came out from the cockpit, Kaden was waiting for her.

"Thank you," Kaden said with a smile. "There is going to be someone back home who will be happy you caught me. Speaking of... you think we could head straight to Haseria?"

Kaden nodded again.

"Grab something to drink... let's talk. You have a secret."

[member="McKenna Rory"]

McKenna’s head was reeling, this was her first mission that hadn’t been part of a platoon or larger group. It filled her with joy that she had been part of a successful mission with a small taskforce. As soon as she entered the cockpit, she would practically leap into her seat taking the controls, she would push forward on the throttle and looking at the radar she would note that she had two bogies on her tail. She knew this ship wasn’t meant for fighting but had a few proton torpedo launchers mounted to the rear. It was then she launched them taking out not one but both ships as she pulled back on the stick and the ship rocketed out of orbit. As soon as the ship left the planet’s gravity well the small pilot set the autopilot and made her way for the lounge.

The small girl’s feet padded gently against the cold metal ground. Upon reaching the lounge she accepted the man’s invitation to grab a drink, having grabbed a cup of caf she would then take a seat on top of the island that sat in the middle of the lounge. Upon looking the man in the face she would speak “Oh do tell?” Even though she knew full well what he meant.
