DESCRIPTION
Having spent the better part of a decade fabricating specialized suits of powered armour for the Thyrsian Sun Guard, the technical architects of the Republic Engineering Corporation were secretly tasked with replicating their successes. While their Thyrsian counterparts were usually on-hand to offer counsel in how to proceed with constructing the semi-mechanized body armour, it seemed that resource was denied to them for this project. The Enclave considered it a test of everything they’ve learned over the years, and were extremely confident in the expected results. Thus, after hours of heated conceptual debate regarding various systems and subsystems their newest project would have, the design team finally settled on the intended goal. They wished to build on the legacy of the Katarn-series Commando armour, and create a spiritual inheritor worthy of that ancient aesthetic.

Like any good armour produced across the known universe, the Commando: Series One was built from the ground up with several layers involved in the overall construction of the suit’s skeletal framework. The first, and one of the most important layers, was the hermetically-sealed and vacuum-rated bodyglove; which in turn was formed from several items that were blended into a single fully-encasing suit. With armourweave and TYI Flex-armour forming the hardened exterior of the bodyglove, the Commando: Series One was capable of defending the wearer from a multitude of threats. Further expanding on the primary defensive capabilities of the armour’s underlying bodyglove, the Commando: Series One was bequeathed a hydrostatic thermal gel layer - which would greatly enhance its ability to safeguard the wearer from high-velocity kinetic weapons.

Not only was this addition a step-up from traditional thermal gels, which would greatly hamper an individual's mobility after the aqueous compound activates, but the fact that the Commando: Series One would never have to submit itself for impact gel replacements - made it one of the best-armoured platforms available to select buyers.

In addition to the hardened exterior, the suit was outfitted with a layer of bioengineered materials that mimicked the operation(s) of organic muscles called Rybcoarse. This aforementioned material was most notably used in various cybernetics to increase the user’s strength and stamina; making their cybernetic limb far more powerful than their organic one could’ve ever been. However, and unknown to many, Rybcoarse also served as the base material for various synthetic muscle suits that sought to augment their user's strength and stamina. Being one of the few that realized the capabilities of this bioengineered compound, the Republic Engineering Corporation began weaving synthetic bodysuits to serve as the basis of their powered armour catalogue.

The last, but the not least notable aspect of the underlying bodyglove was the advanced biorestorative underlay - which sought to keep the wearer alive and healthy at all times, regardless of the situation(s) they found themselves in. Capable of sealing suit punctures, vaporizing viral contaminants, administering basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the Commando: Series One ‘s advanced biorestorative underlay was considered one of the best on the market. Not only would the likelihood of the wearer’s chances of being incapacitated increase, but the possibility of death would - quite possibly - become a fading dream; especially if the wounded soldier was in the vicinity of a competent medic, or another Commando with their medical interface visor active.

With the user’s strength and stamina tripled, as well as protected from a myriad of elements found on the battlefield and given a remarkable on-board medical suite, the technical architects moved onto the armour proper. Sticking with the iconic stark-white design, Republic Engineering Corporation poured every ounce of their technical acumen into fabricating the Commando: Series One to perfection. Suits like these weren’t meant to be mass-produced, and with all of the technology that was inevitably poured into the frame? One could tell that these suits didn’t come cheap.

The primary plating was forged from a composite of Reinforced Duraplast and Duravlex, before it was coated in a transparent laser-reflective coating. Through the combination of the two metallic compounds alone, the Commando: Series One became highly resilient to multiple forms of damage. Not only was the plating hard enough to withstand magnetically accelerated rounds from a Verpine Shattergun, but the armour was capable of resisting all but the most powerful EMP and Ionic devices. In addition to those aforementioned points, the semi-powered armour was adequately safeguarded from the firepower of light laser cannons, found on a myriad of light repulsorcraft, and even the plasmatic lethality of the exotic Lightsabre.

The latter, however, proved to be troublesome after prolonged exposure and the former followed a similar route - as sustained fire had the capability of transferring large amounts of radiant thermal energy inwards, effectively roasting the wearer alive. Although the Commando: Series One was outfitted with an advanced environmental system, there was nothing - save the protective graces of an energy shield - that could save an organic lifeform the massive transfer of radiant energy discharged by successive hits from a repeating energy weapon.

While the suit’s systems and subsystems - especially the various sensors and targeting overlays housed within the helmet were important to note - they were overshadowed by two intriguing additions to the armour’s gauntlets. The first of these two systems was the integrated crushgaunt technology. Originally produced by the Mandalorian Clans centuries before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, these gloves were capable of enhancing the grip-strength of the user to a point where they could shatter bones, or crush durasteel. With the inherent properties of the Mandalorian iron - more commonly known as Beskar - these Crushgaunts were even capable of swatting aside Lightsabres, or even catching their plasmatic blades.

While the Republic Engineering Corporation was more than capable of replicating the technology utilized by the Crushgaunts - they eschewed the use of Beskar. Not only because it was allegedly rare, but because of the inevitable scowls the technical architects would receive from their Thyrsian partners. So, the design team opted to utilize micronized Reinforced Duraplast instead - which would offer many of the same capabilities as the traditional Crushgaunts, but lose the ability to “catch” the plasmatic edge of a lightsabre in the heat of battle.

The second item was an integrated Repulsehand built around the framework and delicate circuitry of the armour’s Left gauntlet. This addition to the Commando: Series One would prove to be a deadly inclusion to the wearer’s growing arsenal, as they would be capable of mimicking the powers of a Force-wielder in microcosm. While hampered by the power allocations and the miniaturization of the weaponized repulsor technology, the shortened range Repulsehand would still be capable of throwing back unwanted opposition, or knocking them off-balance during the ever-shifting flows of combat.

When all of these items were combined with a competent soldier, the battlefield became their playground. The wearer’s of the Commando: Series One would be capable of doing things that their common kin couldn’t. They’d become legends in their own right, and through the collective will of the few - would the shadows ensnaring the galaxy be tossed back from whence they came.

Currently, your ratings are 1 level over balanced. If you could reduce one of the ratings, or provide another substantial weakness to the submission, then I can stamp this.

If you do choose to reduce a rating, I recommend Lightsaber as you specifically mention limited protection against it.
