DESCRIPTION

The REC/HAW-01 “Geryon” - Pattern Heavy Assault Walker was the newest mechanized combat vehicle to populate the arsenal of the Golden Company and their subordinate Auxilia Forces. The Assault Walker’s design began its conceptual life as an expansion project for their previously produced, and popular line of Repulsortank(s) - the Gallehus. There was a particular demand for the mechanized battle tank to be equipped with a far heavier armament than the design was initially outfitted with. However, that expansion project became infeasible due to the structural limitations of the Repulsortank’s frame. Thus, to see that all the work poured into that project didn’t go to waste - the technical architects at the Republic Engineering Corporation adapted the failed expansion project into something more fitting.

Despite the design’s substantial alteration, the core concept of creating a more practical vehicle that was capable of carrying a more extensive array of armaments remained intact. Therefore, as the schematic found itself nearing completion - the Geryon became akin to a mobile weapons platform; burdened by nearly a decad of cannons and turrets. It was top-heavy and lacked the usual artistic flair that was employed and often associated with the Thyrsian people. But, with that being said, the assault walker was beautiful in its own way. For the destruction, this mechanized vehicle was capable of would bring a stream of tears to even the most hardened warrior’s eyes.

With the capabilities of the armament spoke for, and placed on the back burner, the real prowess of the vehicles’ design stemmed from the central chassis. In utilizing a modular construction, the Geryon was capable of swiftly altering the trajectory of its weapons to cover nearly a full three-hundred and sixty-degree field of fire. It wasn’t perfect, for the mounted guns weren’t able to engage targets within a direct-proximity to the assault walker, but that was a particular case - for those lucky enough to reach the Pilot’s module would be too few and far between. Nevertheless, the assault walker was capable of a great many things should it be in the hands of a competent operator.

Therefore, with the Geryon in hand, the Thyrsian Military would soon prove itself to be unmatched by all of its peers.

Hey, [member="Khonsu Amon"]!

I'll be your factory judge today. I'm really liking the assault walker, brought back a few memories reading through the information from sources I loved as a kid. Top shelf work.

That said, I'd like to lean into discussing the armament capacities, and how we might slim them down a tad. The main reasons being the height, combined with the number of varying weaponry of varying damage output. Understandably it's a heavy assault walker, and I have no issue with the weapons themselves - just the number of hardpoints, which seems too high for a Very High rating (collectively as an armament whole).

My initial suggestion:
  • Perhaps cut down some hardpoint counts, and instead have 1-2 weapons per hardpoint; such as 2 on shoulders, 1 on back, 1 on central chassis, 1 chin mount and the chest harpoons - so around 6-7 weapons (not 10-11).
The weapon assortments themselves are okay, and representative of a heavy assault walker, there's no problems there. It's just the sheer amount on a relatively medium-sized walker seems too much, even with the intentional overloading of structural integrity. Feel free to reallocate the weapon type combinations as you see fit, we're just aiming for a lessened hardpoint count for better balance.

If you have any questions or suggestions, don't hesitate to hit me back, so we can sort you and get things approved!

If we change to Large, and increase those dimensions, this would allow for more balance, yes. For the type of walker you're after, the height cap is around 9m (bipedal, with shoulders/arms), per factory.

As a side note, given the maintained level of weaponry (albeit size increase), there could be room for a overheat potential. Heat generation from coupled weapons - such as missile pods and particle cannons - is no joke, and while optional I feel would offer a more rounded submission for both user and opponent (you have sufficient weaknesses, this is purely optional).

Looking forward to seeing this monster in action. Ping me with your changes, and we'll send to pending!

[member="Thorne"] - I've increased the dimensions, and upped the size rating. As well, I've added another weakness to hammer home to effects of overheating that weren't properly represented before.

Thanks for catching that, lol
