DESCRIPTION
Named after one of the mythical beasts that once stalked the surface of Tython, the REC-BT/01 Main Battle Tank; Terenta Pattern was designed to be a next generation Battle Tank produced by Republic Engineering. Like the beast it was named for, the Terenta-Pattern Main Battle Tank was meant to be a heavily armed and armoured mobile weapons platform. One that would utilize it’s armament to punch holes into an enemy’s front line, or do battle with others of its classification and kind. However, what made the Terenta-Pattern stand out from the rest of the pack, was the utilization of tracked propulsion - rather than the standardized repulorfield emitters. This design choice was peculiar, to be sure, but it offered the Main Battle Tank a wealth of structural options. Especially since there was a lack of space taken up by the integrated repulsorlift systems.

Thus, with the amount of extra space at their disposal, the technical architects of the Terenta-Pattern MBT elected to make the turret housing wholly modular. This design scheme would allow for multiple turret variants, as well as the necessary components to ensure their proper functionality on the battlefield. The vast array of weapon variants would allow for the Terenta to have an adaptable mission profile, which would range from the standard armoured cavalry role, to a mobile anti-aerial emplacement, and so on. No matter which variant was chosen, the Terenta would house a selection of standardized armaments that would allow for the MBT to function in an anti-personnel manner; rather than wasting precious munitions on the massed formations of Infantry.

In addition to the wide selection of armament choices, the Terenta was equipped with a tough, and durable armoured shell that was designed to withstand enemy fire for a time. With it’s sloped and ablative plating, as well as the integrated deflector shield, the MBT’s defensive capabilities would prove to be a hard nut to crack. The integrated Ray shield would protect the MBT from a wide array of energy weapons, whilst the particle and concussion shielding would handle a multitude of kinetic weapons; including the slowest of onager-propelled projectiles, to the hypervelocity-driven slugs of mass-driver cannons. If and when the deflector shield inevitably failed, the sloped and ablative armour plating would take over - seeking to bounce either energetic or kinetic rounds away from the MBT’s structure.

Despite the drawback in it’s methodology of propulsion, the Terenta would serve as a highly-capable addition to an Interstellar Nation’s armoury. Especially with the integrated Siege-mode, which would shunt power away from it’s tracked assemblies and would greatly enhance the combat prowess of the MBT. With more power dedicated to it’s projected barrier, the deflector shield would be strengthened, and the lethality of it’s primary armament would increase beyond the conventional capacity. This meant that the Terenta would hit harder, and take more punishment in return - whilst it’s mobility systems were severely hampered by the activation of Siege mode.

The REC-BT/01 Main Battle Tank; Terenta Pattern would inevitably prove to be worthy of its namesake, as it carved out it’s legacy amongst the stars.
