Rebirth: Reuiniting with one's family

The Eternal Queen
Feenas frown only deepened. Telling her to just find an alchemist to fix her up! Of all the things to say! Feena had half a mind to slap him again! But of course she didn't. She had let emotions get the better of her once now already. It would be quite uncouth to do the same thing again.

She watched her brother interacting with her daughter with a look of complete agitation. Feena was not so easily brushed off, nor, she could suspect, was her daughter. She hardly expected Felicity to just run off and play happily while the adults talked. If she was anything like her Mother, Felicity would find a good place to listen in. If they were going to get out of earshot of the little one, they would have to move elsewhere, although Feena was still not sure yet how many listening places the little girl had. She seemed to over hear everything.

"We can go to the courtyard," she relented with a sigh, "Keter is getting drinks right now, so he can hunt us down out there."

She gave her daughter a look as she passed by, as if saying, 'good luck with your spying', as she motioned for Zaiden to follow her to the courtyard.

Zander, being a clone with all direct memories of the greatest assassin in history, missed nothing. He knew they were watched, but minded little. She was family, and by such could do what she wanted, with no worry of anger from him. As they passed into the courtyard, Zander rubbed his chin, "Things seem to be falling apart even more out there. I was only gone a short time, before being put into this body, but when I returned I was confused.

"I am, well my progenitor form is, wanted by the Fringe for the attempted murder of trillions. The Sith are back, Galactic War is still raging..." Zander died out, his words failing him. Since his revival, the man had despised such things. Why did life have to contain so much death and violence? It had made him what he was, allowed his mind to snap, nearly decimating a quarter of the known galaxy.

Sighing once, he began again, "What has my little sister been up to in my absence? I hear you no longer tie yourself to the CIS?"

The courtyard was still lovely. protected on all sides by thick glass to protect the gardens from the windstorms that frequently raged on Imerria. Feena took a seat on a bench, motioning for her brother to do the same. He spoke of the unpleasant things in the Galaxy, things Feena herself preferred to ignore for the moment. She had spentso long thinking about everyone else, trying to fix every problem in the Galaxy. Now she was taking a well deserved break from it. Even so, she had not expected word of her recent departure from the CIS to spread.

"...And just where did you hear of this?" she asked, but continued on as if to wave the question she just asked away, "It is true. As of a week ago I sent in my official resignation, and I have received a kind invitation to join the Omega Protectorate. Well... to be entirely honest, I contacted them first. I will be returning to Naboo. Can you believe it? After all these years, I am able to return."

Home. Naboo was home. And she missed it.

Zander grinned, "Its me remember? My hands in all the cookie jars. Not a lot happens that passes by my ear." Pausing to sit next to the petite woman, he continued, "All though it truly is great that you're returning to Naboo, why leave the CIS? After such a time, they must have felt every bit the family that I do.

"When I was helping to build the Fringe, each and every person whom became my ally, was like an extended family member. I only avoid them now, as they would have my death to prevent future catastrophe. Unless things have changed that bad, I dont see you as posing a threat to the Confederacy." Zander stated. She was always so pure, it couldnt make sense to believe there were issues between her and they.

Feena was silent for a good while, hoping that Keter would just hurry up with the drinks so she could have an excuse not to talk. But the more she let the silence drag, the longer his question hung in the air, the less secure she felt.

"...They were family. I was willing to give them everything I had. But, Zaiden, they were not willing to do a thing for me when I needed it. Even when..."

She glanced around and lowered her voice.
"Even when my very life was threatened. They made it quite clear that, while I would move the entire Galaxy for them, they could not so much as lift a finger for me, even to save my life."

She sighed and rubbed her temples, hoping that she didn't sound as upset about the situation as she felt.

"I disagreed with the wrong person, Zaiden," she confessed, "He wants my head. The Confederacy thinks I am disposable, but Omega Protectorate... they see my worth. I think we might be safe there."

Zander visibly tensed, his jaw so taught his cheeks could be seen pulsing from his veins being pressed tight to the surface. His death had done more than he anticipated. She shouldn't have had to ask anyone else to move to her aid. If Feena's hearing was as good as his, she would hear a slight snap. Turning his head, he attempted to hide spitting out a small chip from the grinding of his teeth.

"Feenarah, Im sorry I wasnt here..." Zander whispered, pausing a moment he cleared his throat, attempting to keep his anger hidden from his sister, "But Im also sorry you had to endure your family turning on you." They will pay for it to. Zander found himself thinking, then he snapped down on that thought, No, I have to control myself. I cannot seek out my own justice any longer..

"You will do the Protectorate good."

It took him a few moments to find the relocated pair, but he sensed his wife, and her clear irritation. However, even as he walked it grew less. The blond smiled. It was good that she couldn't stay angry at family for long. And with her brother back, maybe she would have more ot distract her from work. He entered the courtyard silently, making his way over to the duo, taking care not to disturb them until he set down their drinks in front of them on one of the small tbales set out specifically for the purpose. Feena was proud of her gardens, and they had found it practical to leave some furnishings outside for guests to avail themselves to.

"I trust the reunion is going smoothly?" he whispered to his wife as he offered her a cup.

Before Feena could respond to her brother, Keter walked in with drinks. She closed her mouth and gave her husband a smile and a nod. She hadn't told him about her leaving yet, and she didn't want it to come up like this. She was still working on things for the Confederacy, or rather, things that would prepare her for leaving. She didn't get to him yet about being contacted by Omega Protectorate, so she locked eyes with her brother and shook her head quickly.

"We were just talking. Nothing too interesting. Zaiden was telling me about....?"

"Undead." Zander felt his head get heavy, and wanted hit his forehead. What kind of a quick witted response was that? Smiling he continued, "Clearly though, I lost her. Lets talk about almething else. How about, what we all are planning to do over the next months?" He offered a hidden wink, and his smile grew clear into a mischievous grin to his sister. Having lost many of his years, while gaining a huge extent to his over all expectency, he was quite the immature younger brother now - having to antogonize her would now be almost a necessity. What best then to make her talk about, then something she didnt want to?

Reaching out he grabbed his drink and took a long pull from it, eyeing his sister over the rim.

"Undeath? THat tends to be a tricky topic," the blond nodded sagely. "But it kinda helped my pass my Knighting trials so..." he said before trailing off. Not the time or the place for that. He coughed politely. "A-anyway, as for what we do...that tends to come down to Feena. I rarely plan things anymore, since she's so...busy so often," the blond explained, shooting a slightly disapporivng look at his wife before girnning to show he was only teasing.

Feena could just strangle her brother. After all she'd been through that day, she had to actually pull her other hand down into her lap to prevent it. She forced a pleasant smile, even at her husbands disapproving look. She could avoid it. She could leap around the topic, but her brother had already made it clear that he was going to spill the news eventually. She may as well take the credit.

"You will be happy soon enough, dear," she relented, "I am submitting my resignation. Tonight."

Zander could have jumped with glee, instead he settled with a cocky grin at his sister, "Oh dear. Thats so sudden, and shocking. Why!?" He asked with obviously fake concern and anxiety. Taking another drink, he nodded his head at Keter, "Thank you for the drink by the way." Faking a yawn, he moved the subject along again, "Oh man, these time schedule differences are surprising. Were I still on Val'halla it would be pitch black out right now."

"Oh really? Why?" the blond asked. His wife did not do such things without great deliberation after all. He turned his head to focus on her, kneeling down to look her in the eyes. His pleas for her to lessen her workload had fallen on deaf ears before. What had changed? What had made her resign? Was she going to stand with her family more? Felicity would be so happy if that were the case. But somehow the blond figured it was more complicated than that.

It always was.

Oh. Now the pressure was on her. The way her brother pretended to have no idea just made her cheeks burn. He sure knew how over act ignorance. It was almost comical.

"Too many reasons to count," she answered darkly, "I learned something I wasn't supposed to. Remember Isley Verd? Turns out, he wasn't who he said he was. He had us all fooled. He was pulling the strings, taking funding for Sanctuary, from the citizens of the Confederacy, from taxes, for something... awful, for the Sith."

Feena stared right in the eyes of her husband. True, Verd was gone now, on the run. Even th3 Confederacy didn't want him. But they still had not elected to change a thing. They were still guilty of using her.
Feena did not tell him everything about Verd. How he came to her, months before she found everything out about him, how he
asked her to come with him, promising he'd leave his wife. And she certainly didn't say how she had turned him down, swiftly, and without any mercy. Still, she imagined the smile he would have at hearing that, and took private pleasure at that.

"I expect that after this, I'll be getting a few more death threats," she sighed, "So I've reached out to the Protectorate. They've agreed to take us under their protection. We will be safe."

Feena sighed, taking a sip of her tea.

"I might have forgiven the betrayal, but... I don't like being used."

Zander grinned, "You couldnt call yourself Greyson if otherwise dear sister. Even [member="Keter"] here has to see, that it comes in our genetics. We are naturally more loyal, intelligent, and independent. As well, we despise injustices, liars and being used. Take dear Felicity for example, though you try, she isnt likely to ever truly do as you wish - its her life, therfore her choices." Zander said reclining into his seat as he sipped at his drink. The flavor, though obvious and wonderful, didnt effect him in the slightest as his main nourishment now came from the energies of beings around him all thanks to his newest creation.

"Speaking of my niece, I wonder, what are the plans for teaching her?" Zander inquired. It had been a topic on his mind a lot, he wanted to see the girl prosper into her full strength easier then he had.
