Reassigned [Connor Harrison]

Nights here were relatively cold, unlike in the subtropical climate of Ossus where temperature varied ever so slightly between midday and midnight. Thanewulf sank into the wolly blanket she took away from the Jedi Order, together with meager few belongings she stashed into a worn leather backpack. A knife, a spare change of modest clothing, phosporic matches, a datapad...nothing of value, nothing of use to a Jedi. Her attachment to things and people was rudimentary, as prescribed by the Jedi code, thus making it almost effortless to leave without long-winded explanations and soppy good-byes.

Eight hundred years in carbonite did not shift her preferences towards structure, hierarchy and subjogation to whims of others in her daily life. If Thanewulf had a hard time fitting with the Jedi of the Old, what made her think something had changed? The Jedi were equally ignorant, falsely confident, blinded and unaware. She watched the Republic crumble once before and was not ready to have front row seats to an imminent re-run of that scenario.

If nothing, sitting by the fire surrounded by pitch black forest was a true relief. Tionne had arrived to Voss several weeks ago, but remained hidden in the Force to escape the senses of trained Jedi roaming the planet. Instead, she merged with nature and let her mind rest, ruminating about things unrelated to Jedi and the Order. The sensation of being alone was rejuvenating, with no sentient creatures in radius of several miles. She half-smiled to herself and tossed another log into the fire. Vibrant flames surged around it, encompassing it within seconds. The intensity of heat radiated from the improvised hearth increased, bringing color to otherwise pale cheeks. The only thing missing was a flask with some Corellian brandy, a feast for the palate for purchase of which she had no funds. Wasn't it so sad, to miss the Jedi only for substinent supply of hard liquor?

The Antarian Rangers certainly had Voss tight now after the Primeval invasion of Ziost. They knew all ships in and out of the Silver Jedi temple and Silver Sanctum compounds, and they had eyes on most people in the buildings themselves. Scouts had the perimeter, and it wasn’t long before one such scout reported back to a Jedi Master.

Already in a place where his patience was low and his mind was weary, Connor Harrison never-the-less was following the route set by the scout in the woodland. The glow of fire and movement indicated someone was out there, and with the recent appearance of a corrupted Padawan in their midst, somebody hiding in the darkness was never something to let go as being innocent.

It was a beautiful, peaceful night as Connor walked towards the distant orange glow, the only light in the distance in the woods. A few lone ships passed by ahead, and a pale moon hung above a clear night sky. Such a remarkable galaxy; a shame the sentient beings were the ones ruining it.

Slow and steady footsteps moved over the dry grass and shallow streams to the woods. Connor didn’t go for the armour, so instead just his basic outfit and greatcoat to blend with the shadows and keep warm. The spit and crack of burning wood got louder, and there was nothing in the way of speeders or ships he could see, nor could he see pockets of soldiers or warriors. Just a woman, sat, before the fire it seemed. Connor surveyed the area with his blue eyes before returning to the woman whom he was a few yards away from to the side.

”Good evening. Welcome to Voss. Care to state your business around Silver Jedi territory?”

Somehow, all Jedi were overly cautious over the wrong things, namely external threats. But every time the Jedi Order was reduced to bits throughout history it was due to a mole in their own ranks. Certainly, a Sith would not venture to Voss to sit by the fire lit just a few miles from the compound. Tionne never quite understood the logic of evil lurking somewhere out there in the galaxy; if darkness was anywhere, it was inside us, so that we must conquer it. Her gaze was thus fixated on the fire, not actively taking note of man who approached from the shadows. She jabbed the stick into the fire a few times, sparks effervescing out of the improvised hearth.

"Am I tresspassing?" she inquired idly, her steel-colored eyes finally finding their way up the dark figure loitering at the outskirts of light cast by campfire - "I didn't see a sign."
The man seemed unimpressed by dry humor. The Coruscanti smirked to herself and then propped herself onto one arm, ready to rise to her feet if need be.

"No real business here." the redhead stated absently, her hand slowly sliding the electrum hilt of her lightsaber under the blanket, out of plain sight. With her own Force presence still blocked, nothing but that item revealed she was too a Jedi.
"I am just passing by and lit a fire to warm up a bit. Will be on my way in the morning." said Thanewulf in an almost apologetic tone.

Connor watched her and stepped through to be seen, hands behind his back.

”Mhm. Can I just say, don’t try to pull the wool over my eyes, ok? You’re not just passing through – passing through to where? Are you here to view the Temple or to wander the Dark Heart?”

Glancing around, the girl didn’t seem to have much to her name…he didn’t even know her name. The woods were a relaxing place to be, he’d spent time meditating on the outskirts and spent time jogging through when training.

”Do you have a name, and what are you here to do? Forgive the questions but security is tight at the moment.”
