SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
  • Killing machine. The Reaper is strong, lethal, and intelligent. It possesses impressive strength and is able to calculate, learn and adapt. As they also feel no pain they can use their bodies as weapons or to smash through barriers.
  • The Reaper is well-protected against a variety of attacks, allowing it to take a beating and keep fighting.
  • Laminanium and Phylactery droids grant it self-healing qualities. The Laminanium is good at regenerating from blaster and slugthrower weapons within minutes. More extreme damage takes less than a day.
  • Acts as host for Infiltrator Scarab Droids. When released, these drones aid in infiltration, as they can get around sensors and have slicer programming.
Weaknesses:
  • Reinforced Duraplast and gadgets such as an Ionization buffer and shielding grant the Reaper above average protection against the standard banes of a droid, namely ion, lightning and EMP. However, repeated or heavy attacks will damage it or reduce the effectiveness of the machine by say slowing its reaction time or affecting its targeting systems. The internal copper faraday cage only covers vital systems such as memory core, power units and processing centres. It does not cover the rotors and muscles of the droid, meaning these can still be affected should other protection measures fail.
  • Weight can be an impediment in certain types of terrain.
  • The unit is powerful, but not invulnerable. Heavy blaster attacks and explosions can damage it. Its lightsabre resistance is minor, covering glancing blows and lazy sweeps, but not full-on contact. Glowstick wielders remain a threat.
  • The Laminanium is of limited help against massive amounts of damage. It is better at repairing small penetrations or cuts, but less effective against severe blows, explosions and heavy weapons. Even with the Phylactery drones, the Reaper is not invulnerable.
  • Infiltrator Scarab Droids have a limited battery life. Moreover, they are memory dumps and cannot transmit on their own.
DESCRIPTION

The Reaper was designed to provide Archangel Research and Design with a new line of intelligent automatons. The killing machine is inspired by the venerable YVH 1 model that was utilised against Yuuzhan Vong centuries ago, as well as newer models that have seen action since the end of the Dark Age. It also incorporates some design ideas from the IG Magna Guards. The model takes advantage of the resources Enyo has acquired since assuming direct control of Archangel. The Reaper is a bit of a departure from the usual Archangel models. The corporation has traditionally focused on various HRD models, seeking to perfect its replictants with each model to create the best infiltrator possible. However, Enyo realised that more conventional war and assassin droid models could be very useful as well. Among other things, she was influenced by her encounters with Six-O, an ancient assassin droid she came to feel a grudging respect for. Thus she decided to expand the range of war machines Archangel could use on the battlefield or sell to select clients.

The plating of the droid is composed of Laminanium. This material is material is not only durable, it is also self-healing. This obviously does not make the droid invincible, but it significantly increases its ability to survive repeated attacks and get back up again. Grenades of sufficient yield can still knock the droid of commission, as can blaster cannons and other powerful weapons. The skeleton itself is composed of Duramentium and Durasteel, while the armour consists of Duravlex and Dallorian alloy. Combined with the Turadium joints, this makes the droid very resistant to environmental hazards, especially heat.

Turadium possesses minor lightsabre resistance. This is not on par with say Phrik or Beskar, but better than standard, which is why it is often used for blast doors to guard crucial areas. The joint assemblies are erosion-proof and low-friction They are built to withstand intense wear and tear. This enables the droid to move faster and mete out greater violence. Thanks to its vibration dampening, strong, condense-matter composite pistons the droid has more brute strength and can sustain more serious damage. The Reaper's self-repair abilities are enhanced by the use of Phylactery Scarab droids. These can repair it and piece it back together should it be disabled. They can fix armour, amputations, and other significant damage given enough time. Severe injuries take time to repair and there are some injuries and damages that cannot be fixed on the field and things that require replacement cannot be repaired.

The droid is endowed with a built in scanner and sensorscope. This makes it more vigilant against threats. Furthermore, it comes equipped with a backup droid brain, which is located in the chest area. This is inspired by the IG-100 Magnaguards. A backup photoreceptor is also located there. Thus the droid is still able to continue fighting after being beheaded. It would be less effective, but still a threat to anyone careless enough to ignore it lobbing its head off. The machine is able to switch between night vision, thermal vision, and other visual spectrums.

A Paragon-class Personal Energy Shield increases the droid's resilience. This device is comparable to a Military Mobility Shield. The Reaper is equipped with an ionization buffer to protect it from the traditional bane of all droids. A Faraday cage protects vital internal systems against electrical attacks. Reinforced Duraplast has been incorporated into the armour plating. However, this does not convey immunity. While ion attacks are not able to knock out the droid in one hit, the ionization buffer will eventually be short-circuited by repeated attacks or especially powerful ones. Furthermore, the droid can also suffer from the residual effects of ion attacks, leading to reduced efficiency and reaction time in the case of direct hits.

The Reaper is programmed to be very skilled in the use of a variety of melee and ranged weapons. It also receives extensive tactical programming. This makes it a very capable combatant and allows it to assume leadership roles in droid forces. Archangel prefers to utilise HRDs to coordinate large scale military operations, but the Reaper is well-suited for battlefield command or leadership of small teams. It is an assassin and battle droid of a highly advanced level. It can act as a host for Infiltrator Scarab drones. Once released, these drones are a useful tool for infiltrators and spies, as they can get around sensors and have slicer programming. However, they only have a limited battery life. Moreover, the Infiltrator Scarab only has a memory dump, but no way to transmit on its own.

The Reaper is capable of operating independently or as part of a team. It can process data at a rapid rate and react accordingly, becoming more dangerous with every fight. Sophisticated anti-malware protocols and anti-slicing countermeasures make it very difficult to tamper with the units' programming, overwrite their core functions or otherwise turn them against their controllers. Fast, strong and intelligent, they are lethal killing units. However, prolonged blaster fire will have an effect. Explosions and heavy blaster weapons such as e-webs, rotary cannons can still cause significant damage.

Enyo considered adding in-built weapons' systems such as a blaster cannon, grenade launcher or flamethrower. However, after running some tests, she concluded that this would prevent the unit from meeting weight specifications. Admittedly anything can become a weapon if wielded by a droid, including its body. Between the numerous alloys and components utilised to construct the droid, not to mention the various addons, it was decided to forego in-built weapons systems beyond small blades. This leaves the Reaper as more of an all-around combat machine that can be equipped with a variety of armaments depending on mission parametres. The Reaper is capable of wearing suits of armour above its mechanical form. The high cost of each unit means that the Reaper only has a limited production run. Enyo considers this acceptable because her combat philosophy relies on small elite units of droids rather than massed forces of cheap, disposable drones.
