PRODUCTION INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Adaptive light-bending properties in aquatic and low-light environments
  • Drastically reduces visibility in visual and infrared spectrums
  • Disrupts active and passive sensor signatures (radar, lidar, targeting optics)
  • Designed to layer atop or integrate into advanced stealth armor systems
  • Hydrodynamic surface design for silent underwater movement
  • Compatible with stealth field generator overlays for enhanced evasion

STRENGTHS

  • Visual and IR Camouflage:
The combined use of stygian-triprismatic polymer and Reflec renders this mesh capable of passively mimicking surrounding light conditions, making the wearer extremely difficult to detect in dim, aquatic, or cloaked environments.
  • Sensor Disruption:
Reflec integration scatters electronic scans and dampens signatures, making it highly effective against tracking systems, motion sensors, and enemy targeting systems—especially when paired with dedicated stealth generators.
  • Flexible and Form-Fitting:
Built from fine microcrystalline fibers, the mesh is light, breathable, and fully flexible. It can be bonded over body gloves, hard armor, or even mechanical surfaces without hindering movement or power draw.

WEAKNESSES

  • No Defensive Value:
The mesh provides no kinetic, energy, or environmental resistance. It is purely a stealth material and must be layered over or integrated into other protective systems for survivability.
  • Limited Effectiveness in Direct Light or Clean Atmosphere:
The material excels in aquatic, shadowed, or low-reflection environments. In direct overhead light, sterile environments, or if damaged, its ability to mimic surroundings is significantly reduced.
  • EMP/Ion Vulnerability:
The mesh relies on electric current micro-modulation to remain adaptive. Prolonged EMP exposure can disrupt or disable the adaptive camouflage functionality until power systems are reset.

DESCRIPTION

Reactive Photonic Mesh is a next-generation stealth coating engineered by Abyssus using exclusively canonical materials to create a reliable, passive stealth skin for tactical deployments in high-risk environments—particularly underwater, urban ruins, and low-visibility operations.

The mesh consists of an ultra-fine microcrystalline fiber net embedded with microscopic filaments. Its base layer is a weave of stygian-triprismatic polymer—a rare and canonically light-absorbing material that passively reduces visual detection. Overlaid with Reflec threads, the mesh also distorts sensor data and misleads active scans. When charged by a suit's power systems, the mesh dynamically shifts color and temperature to mimic the surrounding environment.

Rather than relying solely on bulky stealth field generators, Reactive Photonic Mesh provides a passive, persistent camouflage effect. This makes it invaluable for long-duration missions where energy must be conserved, or where movement through sensor-heavy zones must remain undetected. It has been integrated into the Revenant-Class Adaptive Stealth Suit, where it forms the primary optical cloak across the wearer's body, helmet, and limbs.

The mesh has proven especially effective in deep-sea conditions where light refraction is chaotic and conventional camo is unreliable. It reacts fluidly to shadows, bioluminescence, and motion, allowing wearers to pass undetected by both droid patrols and biological sentries. However, it is not armor. It will not stop a blade, blaster, or hostile environment. Its strength is not in defense—but in absence.

As such, Reactive Photonic Mesh is reserved for elite Abyssus agents trained in underwater sabotage, relic retrieval, and blacksite infiltration. Its appearance in the field is rare—and if used properly, never confirmed.
