Rayl was born on Tholatin. And thats all you learn of his childhood. The badassery starts when he became a pirate at the age of 15. Running with the Kariko Gang our of the Kira System. He was a grunt then, lot of lifting and swabbing. Not to forget you have the esteemed honor of being first one out of the boarding pod. Blind luck most likely saved his hide from being blaster chow. With pirates and all it works much like a regular system, except the Captain is usually voted to position by the crew. Who then often appoints or keeps people at ranks. Rayl, through hard work and lying like a churchman; he moved up the latter. He came to be the ships first mate at 25. A few years latter voted Captain when the other one kicked the bucket in a raid against them by Republic guys. Few more years of wrecking up the trade routs he made Pirate Lord of the Kariko Gang. He made the intelligent move and joined Blacksun for added protection and profitability. They run a good show and he gets more powerful, win win right!
The Fall of Nar Shaddaa
In a surprise move The Republic under command of Grandmaster Selena Halcyon launched a massive assault on the smugglers moon of Nar Shaddaa. The Republic armada easily eclipsed the forces of Black Sun by three to four times at least. Rayl Wilded; aboard his Star Destroyer, The Defias; took command of the defense in space while their leader, Domino, abandoned them to face the enemy alone. While threats were made by both sides, neither made a move to attempt the first attack. Not to say for the Planetary Security Officer Grundark, who ordered ground side Ion Cannons to open fire on the armada. Quickly ascertaining all hope was lost, Rayl hoped to open favorable negotiations with The Republic. These hopes were dashed though when infiltrators destroyed the planetary shield generators, and all favor for the Suns were lost. Humiliating negotiations were had by the remaining leadership of Black Sun. Vex Tythion, Mr. Ash, and of course Rayl, who mostly kept quiet. Though they were able to save the entirety of their forces, the loss of the planets manufacturing and administrative ability was a great blow.

After the war; Black Sun was fading. No leader held the influence Domino did. After Vex, Rayl himself took the mantle of Underlord. Through him they slowly made small gains around their territory. Their criminal operations flourished and control of the galactic criminal underworld largely held firm to their grip.
Rayl eventually passed the position of Underlord to Mr. Ash. He back to Domino where she increased the territory of Black Sun to nearly double in one deal. Eventually things declined though. A new criminal faction by the name of the Red Ravens appeared. They fought for supremacy of the underworld and real conflict broke out on Barab 1. But the war was short. After though the decline started. Activity slowed on expansion and slowly power slipped away. After the Sith Lords betrayal At Barab war broke out between the One Sith and Black Sun after a pivotal negotiation meeting. Over six years Black Sun fought before being diminished by the efforts, internal strife and numerous other factors. The state collapsed but the criminal element remained throughout the Galaxy.
