SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Has various technological components that effectively turn an entire armor piece that it is attached to, into a sonic dampener, or alternatively a "Sonic Weapon".
  • Utilizes a magnetic clamp to stick to any surface of armor, regardless of magnetism of the material.
Strengths:
  • Sonic Frequency Cancellation - Through the use of an advanced vibration cell, whatever armor it is attached to will have its surface vibrated to a particular frequency. If the wearer is humanoid, and there is a sonic weapon tuned to affect humanoids, the wearer can set it to a counter vibration frequency to dampen and cancel out the frequency of any incoming sonic blast. It can also be set to cancel out incoming explosive shock-waves, to reduce a lethal impact to survivable levels. However, the larger and more powerful the explosion (and the closer a target is to it), the less it will be able to do defend against it. Additionally, when set to cancel out these shockwaves, it cannot simultaneously defend against other frequencies of sonic damage, as it is impossible to create two frequencies existing in the same armor, as they would likely overlap and cancel out portions of their own frequencies, making them ineffective at defending against either intended frequency.
  • Ultrasonic Discharge - At the expense of its dampening ability, a user can cause the vibration cells to go "Ultrasonic" and vibrate the armor so vigorously as to produce a sonic discharge which can push back and damage objects and organics surrounding the individual. Doing this though, should be a last resort, as the sonic discharge damages the medium it uses to generate the disturbance, and can be almost as painful for the user to endure as the target they intend to harm. The energy dissipates rapidly the farther from the user the field gets, but it effectively creates an area of effect three meters in diameter where objects and individuals are pushed out and damaged/stunned. Beyond this field, the high-pitched frequency will be heard and cause something of an irritant (more so the closer to the discharge field), but not so much as to truly stun an individual (more like distract). The effect of this sonic discharge is amplified in water, and other similar mediums surrounding it.
  • Attachment for Any Armor - Through the use of a magnetic clamp, there is no type of armor this attachment can't be used on. Although, the armor type can very much diminish its effects depending on the material it is attached to.
Weaknesses:
  • My Armor is Wood - Depending on the material of the armor it is used on, its effects can be greatly reduced, and even outright destroy the armor it is attached to depending on its sturdiness. Durable metallic armors are highly recommended. Organic and ceramic armors are not. Oh, and do not apply to self without armor, or on thin fabrics. You will most likely die or otherwise suffer grievous injury.
  • He Thought I Was a Wookiee - Be careful which settings you choose to use, sonic weaponry are typically species specific, but that doesn't mean they don't have their weapon set to a creature far more powerful than you are. You might still get hurt from a sonic blast while being protected, and while it will diminish its effectiveness, if your settings are too low there is a potential it could still be lethal. The RAW SAS Attachment is a supplement for sonic protection, and not a true replacement for sonic protective measure.
  • I Tried to Cancel Out a Bullet - What are you doing? This is a Sonic Armor Shield Attachment, just because a projectile breaks the sound barrier and creates a shockwave, doesn't mean cancelling out its shockwave will save you. The bullet still kills you, wear some armor that protects against that stuff.
  • Didn't Cancel out a Grenade - Well next time, don't drop it at your feet. It cancels out sonic energy like shockwaves and stuff, not fireballs and shrapnel.
  • He had Protection Too - Tried to use the Ultrasonic Discharge on an enemy with sonic protective gear and he wasn't stunned? Well, that's to be expected, but at least it pushed him out of your way, next time use that to run away.
  • It hurts! - Stop being a wuss, of course the Ultrasonic Discharge is going to hurt, its vibrating your damn armor to produce it. Now take a moment to ignore the pain and run away, what are doing sitting there complaining?
  • Busted My Armor - Are you surprised? Your armor is being vibrated to kingdom come to save your ass from lethal energy, or to produce it to give you the time you need to get out of dodge. There is going to be a price for that kind of thing, and unfortunately, its your armor. Better that than your internal organs, yes?
DESCRIPTION

Despite the excessive amount of engineering research into sonic technologies and vibration generators, Triam found that the SAS Attachment is an outstandingly simple device. It creates vibrations of various types, utilizing a piece of armor as a medium. That's all it did.

However, despite that, it had a number of rather complicated functions to serve. Namely, the first one was acting as a sonic dampener, utilizing its vibrational energies to generate a counter frequency to an incoming blast, negating it on impact with great effectiveness. This applied to all types of sonic damage that could be applied, from technological sonic weapons to the shock-wave of an explosion nearby. It had to be set to those types of sonic frequencies ahead of time of course, but nonetheless, once set it was incredibly effective.

It could even be amped up to use its medium as a conduit to create sonic disturbances of the magnitude it was intended to protect against, creating an effective barrier around the armor piece, and by extension the user.

Both of these settings though, had a rather... long list of limitations and draws-backs for their use.

Triam deemed this an acceptable trade off considering she knew that most armorers around the galaxy neglected the use of sonic protection, since sonic weapons were seen as "exotic", and uncommon, thus not necessitating its protection unless the buyer asked for it specifically. The weapons were exactly that of course, however, Triam also knew that sonic weaponry were on the rise as armorer's became more effective at blocking out blasters, kinetics, lightsabers, and whatever else. There needed to be a response to ever more impenetrable armor, and sonic weapons have been a good candidate to fill that niche of effective weaponry in recent years.

Proactively, Triam was already thinking up ways to fill her own niche as an armorer to anticipate that eventuality.

Thus was born the RAW SAS Attachment, sonic protection for any armor at any time.
