RAUKAI IRONSTONE
- BACKGROUND
-
Roukai Ironstone was the last survivor of Clan Ironstone, a minor but fiercely independent Mandalorian house destroyed during Operation Decimation. His kin were executed when they refused to surrender their armory and ancestral beskar to the Sith occupiers. Roukai was taken alive, stripped of his name, and broken through years of imprisonment, conditioning, and Sith ritual.
When he emerged, nothing remained of the man Clan Ironstone had raised. He remembered neither family nor creed only the certainty that Mandalore was dead and that those who tried to restore it were prolonging a corpse's suffering. Bound to the Sith Order, Roukai became an instrument against his own people, hunting survivors, scattered clans, and would-be liberators with the discipline of the warrior he could no longer remember being.
He now commands the Ashen Ones, a Dral'hanade warband drawn from Mandalorians who accepted annihilation rather than resist it. After every victory, they burn the bodies of their Mandalorian enemies and grind the remains into their armor, carrying the ashes as a final insult to the dead and everything they believed could be rebuilt.
- PERSONALITY
-
Roukai is difficult to understand. He doesn't shout, make threats, or use unnecessary words. He issues an order once and expects it to be obeyed. Most of the Ashen Ones are more afraid of letting him down than they are of dying for him.
He has no time for talks about honor, clan, or Mandalore. To him, those ideas have led to the deaths of his people. Yet, he still holds onto old habits. He personally inspects every weapon, never leaves any of his behind, and gets upset if anyone touches his armor.

STRENGTHS
The Body Remembers What the Mind Forgot: Roukai has no memory of his Vheh'yaime training, his old sparring partners, or the master who taught him the Resol'nare by heart. But his hands do. In combat he moves with a fluency that unsettles even his own warband, reading a beskar-forged blade's balance before he's consciously registered picking it up, countering a Mandalorian fighting style he shouldn't recognize. It occasionally leaves him staring at his own hands afterward, disturbed by a skill he can't account for.
Terror as Currency: Roukai has never raised his voice at an Ashen One. He's never needed to. His discipline is enforced through the certainty that failure earns something worse than death, and that certainty alone keeps a warband of broken killers more cohesive than most units held together by loyalty. It's a strength any rival commander would kill to understand and a serious liability if anyone ever finds a way to make Roukai's threats look hollow in front of his own men.
An Enemy With No Leverage: Interrogators, negotiators, and rival Sith alike have learned there is nothing to threaten him with. No family to endanger, no home to burn, no cause to corrupt. This makes him nearly impossible to manipulate through conventional means but it also means the only way anyone has ever gotten to him is by going after the one thing he does still guard obsessively, the armor, and the ash it carries.
Funeral Rites for the Enemy, None for Himself: He personally recovers every fallen Ashen One and burns every defeated Mandalorian's remains into paste for their armor. It's framed as tactical ritual, discipline, tradition but it's the only ceremony he still performs, for people whose names he doesn't let himself remember either.
WEAKNESSES
Order Without an Author: Roukai has no goals of his own. He has never once, in the years since his conditioning, questioned an order from the Sith Order because questioning requires a self to do the questioning, and there isn't much of one left. A patient enough manipulator, Sith or otherwise, could feed him a false directive and he would carry it out with the same unblinking precision as a legitimate one. He has no internal compass to check it against.
The Ash Doesn't Answer: Every so often a fragment surfaces. A word in Mando'a he shouldn't know the meaning of. A flash of a face he can't place. He handles these moments by working, by inspecting a weapon that doesn't need inspecting, by finding something to control.
His Armor Is Not Just Armor: Roukai's beskar carries the ground remains of every Mandalorian he's put down, which he treats as a war record rather than a horror. He will not remove it in front of others, will not let anyone else so much as adjust a strap, and reacts with immediate, disproportionate violence if it's damaged, mocked, or tampered with. It's the single most reliable way to provoke him into an uncharacteristic mistake and the one topic that can make him say more than a sentence at a time.
A Loyalty He Can't Explain: Despite remembering nothing of Clan Ironstone, Roukai has never once turned his blade against a fellow named Ironstone bloodline member when the option arose he simply finds reasons not to, reasons that sound tactical but aren't. He doesn't know why and Neither does anyone else yet.
