SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name:
  • Raithal Military Academy.
  • Classification:
  • Army Base.
  • Location:
  • Kuat.
  • Affiliation:
  • Galactic Empire.
  • Population:
  • Moderate.
  • This military base maintains a moderate population, appropriate for its role as a strategic outpost and regional command center. It is not a full-fledged planetary headquarters, but it is far from insignificant. The base is large enough to support sustained operations and rapid deployment across nearby sectors.

    Population Breakdown:

    • Army Personnel: ~1,800
      • Includes infantry battalions, armored support divisions, recon squads, and planetary defense teams.
    • Navy Personnel: ~1,200
      • Stationed for starfighter command, orbital control, logistics, and communications with nearby fleet assets.
    • Special Forces & Intelligence: ~300
      • Covert operations units, slicers, interrogation teams, and undercover assets.
    • Support Staff & Engineers: ~700
      • Includes technicians, droid maintenance crews, medics, administrative personnel, and logistics operators.
  • Total Personnel: ~4,000–5,000

While not "crowded," the base is fully operational 24/7 and supports both planetary surface activity and orbital operations. A mix of Imperial stormtroopers (DE Imperial-era) and new recruits (GE Imperial-era) are housed here following the successful usurping of the Galactic Alliance's control of Kuat in 902 ABY.
  • Demographics:
  • The base's population reflects the centralized and elite nature of Core World military operations, drawing from both the planet's native population and from across the wider Galactic military hierarchy.

    • Humans (~75%)
As with much of the Core Worlds and the Imperial military structure, Humans make up the majority of personnel. Many officers and command staff are drawn from Kuati noble houses or the Core Worlds.
    • Kuati Natives (~15%)
Native Kuati personnel — both Human and near-Human — are commonly found in technical and engineering roles, especially those affiliated with Kuat Drive Yards. These include skilled shipwrights, engineers, logistics officers, and security forces.
    • Other Species (~10%)
Non-Human personnel are relatively few in number, though present especially in specialized roles such as intelligence, reconnaissance, and non-combat engineering support. Common species include:
      • Duros: Starship mechanics and navigators.
      • Mon Calamari: Occasionally assigned for naval coordination and ship design.
      • Rodians: Occasionally found in recon and scout units.
      • Droids (varied): Not biological, but a vital part of base operations, from protocol droids and medical units to astromechs and sentry models.
  • There are no known populations of custom or uncommon species stationed here. Any non-standard personnel are assigned on a temporary or contract basis.
  • Accessibility:
  • This military base is highly restricted and strategically isolated. Situated on the fringes of one of Kuat's industrial sectors, the facility is built into a remote region shrouded in dense fog and atmospheric interference — both natural and artificially enhanced for security purposes.

    • Visibility & Location:
The base's towering spire can be seen from a distance under the right conditions, but it is well-guarded and off-limits. It does not appear on civilian star charts and is surrounded by both automated defense grids and sensor-jamming fields to prevent unauthorized approach. Its location is classified, with all inbound traffic requiring pre-authorized transponder codes.
    • Access Routes:
Primary access is granted via secure air corridors used by military shuttles and patrol craft. Ground access is possible but restricted through heavily fortified roadways patrolled by checkpoints and automated turrets. A dedicated mag-lev line connects the facility to a distant Kuat Drive Yards logistics hub, but it is sealed and guarded.
    • Public Interaction:
The base is completely closed to the public. Civilians, including local Kuati citizens, are barred from the premises without special clearance from central command. The structure is operated under military jurisdiction with full blackout authority during sensitive operations.
    • Security Presence:
Constant patrols, advanced sensor networks, and orbital surveillance ensure this base remains secure. Anti-air emplacements and orbital tracking systems can detect unauthorized approach from space or atmosphere. The base's isolated setting makes it ideal for operations requiring secrecy, away from the main Kuat population centers and the high traffic of Kuat's shipyards.
  • Description:
  • Rising like a blade from the fog-choked plains of Kuat's outer industrial belt, this military base — designated "The Raithal Military Academy"— is a stark, imposing symbol of strategic power. Carved in the clean, angular lines of Core World military architecture, its obsidian-hued spire dominates the surrounding landscape, reaching toward the clouds like a watchful sentinel. The tower's upper dish functions as a long-range subspace relay array, enabling secure communication with orbiting fleets and deep-core command.

Raithal Military Academy is not open to the public. It is a private, classified installation positioned deliberately far from Kuat's bustling shipyards and noble estates. A perimeter of sensor-jamming towers and cloaking fields masks its precise location from civilian navigation systems, and any unauthorized approach — by land, air, or orbit — is met with immediate response by an automated defense grid and on-site intercept teams.

The base's population is moderate in scale, composed primarily of Human personnel drawn from both the Kuati elite and wider Imperial military ranks. Support crews from Kuat Drive Yards and other Core-aligned institutions bolster the engineering and logistics departments, maintaining the steady flow of resources required to sustain operations.

Internally, the facility houses thousands of personnel, including:

    • Ground troops and defense units,
    • Starfighter pilots and orbital coordination teams,
    • Intelligence operatives and tactical analysts,
    • And a full support staff including engineers, medics, and protocol droids.
  • Its tall, monolithic structure serves both form and function: command chambers, training decks, comms relays, deep data vaults, and hangar bays are all built vertically into the tower's frame. Beneath the surface lies an expansive subterranean network — part bunker, part data archive — capable of enduring orbital bombardment or infiltration attempts.

Accessibility is tightly restricted, with entry permitted only through encrypted air corridors or armored convoys guided along pre-approved ground routes. Even among Kuat's elite, few have clearance to step foot inside the Raithal Military Academy.

Shrouded in secrecy and silence, this base exists not as a front-line fortification, but as a nerve center — a place where strategy is sharpened, orders are issued, and power, though unseen, is undeniably felt.
  • POINTS OF INTEREST
  • 1. Raithal Academy of Structural Doctrine

Located in the eastern wing of the central tower, the Raithal Academy of Structural Doctrine is a prestigious training and research institute housed within Raithal Military Academy. Named after the Raithal Military Academy, this facility serves as Kuat's premier think tank for structural engineering, military architecture, and siege logistics.

Here, promising architects, engineers, and systems designers are rigorously trained in both traditional Core World construction principles and advanced wartime logistics. The academy features:
    • Simulated warzone environments for structural stress testing,
    • Holotable design bays where modular base blueprints are reviewed and iterated,
    • And classified archives of historical and experimental base schematics, many of which were never built.
    • Graduates often go on to oversee planetary defenses, starbase design, or capital ship layout engineering. The Academy operates under military oversight and maintains restricted-access labs, where cutting-edge materials and defense technologies are prototyped.

    2. Command Spire (High Command Level)

At the apex of the central structure lies the Command Spire, a panoramic control chamber overseeing all operations. Surrounded by holo-consoles and transparent durasteel observation panes, this level is where tactical briefings, fleet coordination, and encrypted communications occur. Access is limited to senior officers and select command AI units.

    3. Orbital Control Deck

A critical wing situated just below the Command Spire, this deck handles all inbound and outbound starship traffic to and from the Kuat system. Staffed by naval personnel, it links directly to the orbital shipyards and manages encrypted transponder verification, flight plans, and emergency space interdiction protocols.

    4. The Vaults (Sublevel 3 – Classified Research Archive)

Deep underground, these reinforced data vaults house classified schematics, intelligence briefings, and high-security prototypes. Access requires multi-layer biometric clearance. Some of the files here date back to the final years of the Old Republic — or even earlier. Rumors persist of Sith war-era technology being studied within.

    5. Barracks and Training Yards

Sprawling across several sublevels and outer platforms, the barracks are utilitarian but well-maintained. Connected to them are combat simulation chambers, live-fire ranges, and atmospheric training yards designed to mimic hostile planetary environments. Troopers stationed at Bastion Theta are expected to maintain peak readiness.

    6. Hangar Bay V-12

One of the facility's primary launch and landing bays, Hangar Bay V-12 can accommodate transports, starfighters, and shuttlecraft. Maintenance pits and automated fueling arms line the floor, and the entire hangar can be sealed shut behind retractable armored blast doors.

    7. Officer's Hall & Strategic Briefing Auditorium

A vaulted chamber designed for war councils, planning sessions, and inter-fleet coordination. Equipped with a central holoprojector, the chamber can display full planetary maps or orbital fleet arrays in real-time. Flanking the auditorium are private meeting rooms and encrypted data lines to the Senate or fleet command (depending on era).

SECURITY

MAXIMUM.

As one of the most secure installations on Kuat, the Raithal Military Academy is protected by a layered and highly advanced security network. Its position — remote, fortified, and shrouded by natural and artificial interference — is only the first of many deterrents. Internal and perimeter defenses are designed to prevent sabotage, espionage, and direct assault, befitting its status as a center of military theory, classified research, and engineering innovation.

Security Assets and Defenses:

Perimeter Defenses:
  • Sensor-Jamming Field Network:
Surrounds the academy with constant atmospheric disruption and masking, making the facility invisible to most passive and active long-range scanners.
  • Perimeter Turbolaser Batteries:
Automated turbolasers on rotating towers are calibrated to detect and destroy unauthorized craft, including stealth ships.
  • Magnetic Shielding Dome:
A reinforced energy shield dome activates during alerts, deflecting bombardments and preventing unauthorized aerial or orbital insertion.
  • Ground-Level Kill Zones:
Entry points are funneled through narrow approach paths with overlapping E-Web heavy repeating blaster emplacements, minefields, and retractable anti-vehicle spike barriers.
  • Anti-Aircraft Emplacements:
Includes flak cannons and tracking missiles capable of intercepting incoming transports or starfighter incursions.
  • Orbital Surveillance Uplink:
Linked to Kuat's defense network, providing early-warning tracking of unidentified or hostile vessels entering high orbit.

Internal Defenses:
  • Biometric Access Control:
Multi-factor identification (retinal, genetic, command code) required for sensitive areas such as the Command Spire and the Vaults.
  • Internal Security Teams:
Elite stormtrooper squads trained in counter-infiltration, riot suppression, and rapid response.
  • Security Droids:
Includes security droids and Interrogation Units in holding areas.
  • Integrated Surveillance Grid:
Holo-cam coverage of all public and classified zones, monitored from a central control station within the Internal Security Annex.
  • Containment Protocols:
Blast doors, section lockdowns, and atmospheric purge options are available in the event of biological or internal sabotage threats.

Notable Systems/Technology:
  • ISB-Licensed Counterintelligence Hub:
Monitors personnel communications and digital traffic for subversive behavior or intelligence leaks.
  • Emergency Protocol Omega-Lock:
In a worst-case scenario, the academy can seal all exits, purge data cores, and activate a self-destruct contingency buried in the sublevels to prevent hostile capture.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

THE RAITHAL MILITARY ACADEMY was constructed in 878 ABY when Kuat was controlled by the Galactic Alliance. Back then it was a small structure barely able to support fifty people and was strictly centered around the Raithal Academy of Structural Doctrine which would later become a point-of-interest by 902 ABY when the Galactic Empire usurped Alliance control of the planet and annexed it.

It was initially founded to be a place of study and learning for promising Kuati (and other species living planetside) to study modern and classic galactic architecture under the purview of a committee assigned by the Alliance-Federal Assembly. Only later, when Kuat was taken away from the Galactic Alliance, would the scope of it's military operations be revealed in the modern day.

Somewhere between 878 ABY and 902 ABY the Raithal Academy fell under the influence of a dark-side cult who worshipped the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Solipsis. Called: "THE CHURCH OF THE DARK SIDE", this cult infiltrated the committee assigned to oversight of the academy and began expanding it's scope through funds discreetly funnelled in through their contacts in the Imperial remnant following the dissolution of the Dark Empire.

By the time that Solipsis returned to galactic politics and swore himself in as the GALACTIC EMPEROR (following the successful usurping of the Galactic Alliance's control of the Core Worlds of Kuat, Balmorra, Humbarine and Commenor) the academy had been turned into a military base used in the training of newly acquired conscripts and the consolidation of Imperial remnant forces which were merged into the ranks of a resurgent GALACTIC EMPIRE.

In the modern day the "RAITHAL MILITARY ACADEMY" produces new soldiers to serve in the Empire's military complex supplying new pilots, marksmen and officers capable of serving in the command of any general, admiral or captain within the Imperial army or naval forces. While it's original purpose of being a place of study and teaching of classical or modern architecture has been somewhat put aside in favour of it's military operations it still retains a robust institute of students and teachers who are no longer tethered to the weak morality of their former alliance sycophants.

It is here, in the halls of the Raithal Academy of Structural Doctrine that students such as Vireth Vireth were taught and subsequently trained to specialize in architectural and psychological design which favours the Imperial state while the GALACTIC EMPIRE sought to topple the Galactic Alliance and replace it with their own paradigms of which individuals from this academy were taught to bring into fruition.
