Raising the Tent (Solo Dev Thread)

Soon...
So soon...
Soon it would start...
The Madness would begin again...
At the center of a small clearing, deep within the swamps of Dagobah, a strange, eerie creature stood. At a glance, it stood in the open ground surrounded by what appeared to be workers. Foremen, construction workers, architects, and others. At a closer inspection, more could be seen.

The workers and foremen standing around the creature did their best to remain stoic, but fear was evident. Not at the creature, for the creature only looked strange, creepy perhaps. Scary, but it was just what appeared to be a man in strange costume. A costume that glowed like a ghost and floated a few inches above the ground, but a being in a suit nonetheless. No, the thing's appearance made them uneasy, but did not scare them.

Its madness did. It cackled and danced as it spoke, the voice giving off a strange, distant, echoing quality as it talked and sang and gibbered. It was clearly insane, this much was very evident, but there was nothing they could do to get away from the madness. He'd paid them too much, all up front. They had to do the job before they could leave. If they didn't... There was no telling what the thing would do. That scared them the most.

"GENTLEMEN! I BELIEVE YOU ALL KNOW WHY YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED HERE TODAY, HMMM?!"

"Yes," answered one of the foremen. "You've brought us here to build this facility you wanted. The one you sent us the plans for."

The creature turned and shot forward to within a few inches of the man's face. To the foreman's credit, he didn't flinch or step back, but the unease and fear in his eyes shown through like a lantern in the darkest night.

"YES, THE CARNIVAL! THE CARNIVAL THAT WILL BE BUILT ON THIS VERY SOIL- AHAHAHAHAHAHA THE CARNIVAL!" it cried and danced away, tumbling and pirouetting in the center of the clearing as it laughed and gibbered at itself. "THE CARNIVAL INDEED! THE CARNIVAL OF SCARES AND SCREAMS AND FUN-FUN-FUN! THE ONE YOU ALL SHALL BUILD FOR ME! THE ONE YOU HAVE BEEN PAID TO BUILD! YES, THE CARNIVAL!"

The thing cavorted and danced in the clearing a few inches above the air. Occasionally he would leap and tumble, his body rising many feet into the air before coming down to the swampy earth below.

"THE CARNIVAL! YES, THE CARNIVAL! MISTER JINK, THE PLANS! PUT UP THE PLANS SO ALL CAN SEE THE CARNIVAL!" it giggled out as it danced around the clearing.

Clearly unnerved, one of the workers, apparently the Mr. Jink the dancing thing had named, placed a small projector on the soil in the middle of the group. A second later, a holographic projection appeared around waist height. What could be seen was a sprawling, expansive complex. Tents rose up here and there, big tops and little side shows were seen. Games and rides and shops where everywhere throughout the carnival. There was even a gondola suspended above the ground that rode through the swamp trees above the park. On one end was what appeared to be a huge, open pit. On the other appeared to be a giant tented structure with gaping doors. At the entrance stood a gate for customers to appear within in the shape of a giant clown's head with it's mouth wide open and forming the entryway.

"BEHOLD! THE CARNIVAL! THE CARNIVAL DEMENTIAE! THE PLACE OF SCREAMS AND FEAR AND FUN-FUN-FUN! DO YOU SEE IT? DO YOU LIKE IT? WE SHALL BUILD IT! BUILD THE CARNIVAL DEMENTIAE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
