Having trained under an Echani Master of the Force and combat while growing up, by virtue of being raised by him, Rai adoped the idea that the best weapon for her was not a traditional lightsaber, being as she was smaller and more lithe, but a lightsaber pike, which could still cut like a saber, but provided her with longer reach, allowing her to keep her foe away from her. She obtained a dantari crystal and a sufficient quanity of ultrachrome to create the weapon. Knowing that it would channel lightsaber energy through it when struck, she installed a heat sink to absorb the energy to keep it from frying her. Most days she simply carries it like a staff, opting not to use it unless forced.
