  Born as the fourth son of Lord Sigmund Petryph, Patriarch of House Petryph. Raglan was surrounded by the wealth and pomp of the Royal Court of Onderon from an early age. Although being the fourth son he was never expected to amount for anything within his father's eyes and was often left to his own devices growing up. His mother showed a carless disposition to him and often ignored him in favor of her three other sons who were already proving themselves more worthy of immediate attention. A lesser being might become bitter and resentful but not Raglan, he locked himself within the family library and began to absorb knowledge of the galaxy through datacrons and the holonet entries.
  
  He was particularly interested in his ancient ancestor King Regalun Petryph who ruled Onderon during the Old Republic Era. Wanting to follow in his footsteps, Raglan would make plans to put himself on the royal throne before his brothers or father could gather enough influence to install themselves as sovereign. Raglan understood particularly well that in order to become a ruler, one might have experience on the field of battle and thus he left his family estate to enlist within the Original Galactic Alliance. After a few years of that faction falling, Raglan joined the Outer Rim Coalition then the Reformed Galactic Alliance as an Army Corporal.
  
  Having gained sufficient battle experience, Raglan began plotting to remove his brothers from the line of succession and murder his parents. It took several months before the House Guardsman switched their loyalty on the promise of more freedom from regulations. He had no problem granting this and even smiled as his family was butchered before his very eyes. The Reigning Queen of Onderon at the time launched an investigation putting Inspector Darvu up to the case and even requested assistance from the Silver Jedi Concord. Fortunately for him, that the Inspector was unfortunately murdered before the request even reached the eyes and ears of the Concord.
  
  Having the family wealth underneath his control made life easier, taking a wife at the age of 56. Building up his reputation at the Royal Court as a scholar and considerable statesman. While laying within bed one evening the ghosts of his family belittered him as they wanted their revenge. Raglan was terrified that they would expose him even though it was all within his head. Keeping his stable appearance up at court became more and more difficult, but he eventually hatched a plot to take control of Onderon from the Reigning Queen. Although had yet to get an opportunity until the great crisis of Onderon occurred which resulted in the queen's assassination by the Final Dawn.
  
  The Surviving Royal Court of Onderon named him as the New Sovereign under the name Raglan the First.
