Question regarding Netherworld event

When Netherworld ended, didn't it leave an opening somewhere in Chiss space?

Don't remember off the top of my head. Check the map update thread. If you go back far enough , you'll find Netherworld maps with links to the different regions and where they connect to the Galaxy.

2 human-sized portals remain in our galaxy. These two-way portals are located on Csilla and Brokellia.

After the death of Akala, all of the Giant Rifts lost power and dissipated. These last two portals were designed to allow PCs still trapped in the Netherworld a way to escape and return to the Chaos Galaxy again.
