Description:
The Pyrrhus-class is named for the Taung general of folklore, who lost a critical war but made the cost of victory too high for his enemies to pay. That is, in effect, the Fringe strategic philosophy when victory is not an option. Important to the operation of the ship? Not really. All things considered, the Pyrrhus is a fairly standard dropship. A cluster missile launcher for local ground-clearing, a line-of-sight energy torpedo launcher (very low rate of fire) for covering one's approach, and a pair of laser turrets are all that the Pyrrhus can boast. Two small armored personnel carriers take the place of both speeder bikes and a third of the standard infantry capacity. The vessel's one concession to high technology is its ability to deploy a cloud of anti-blaster aerosol in a jet with a range of 10 metres, as situationally appropriate.
