- All standard features.
- Outer transparasteel coating: This thin outer layer of specialized transparasteel makes it more difficult for enemy targeting computers to lock on to D-59s.
- Silent Engine: D-59 engines make almost no sound in planetary atmospheres, which allows them to be much stealthier than other dropships.
- Large troop capacity: The D-59 can carry up to 40 Pyke Syndicate soldiers into battle.
- Stealthy: The D-59 is excellent at deploying troops quickly and quietly.
- Cheap: The D-59 is not expensive to manufacture, and has a minimal upkeep cost.
- Large: The D-59 is larger than most dropships, and thus requires more space to land. Finding this space is often difficult in combat zones.
- No Hyperdrive: The D-59 is not equipped with a hyperdrive, meaning it cannot transport troops between Star systems under its own power.
With their recent expansion of influence over the Galaxy, the Pyke Syndicate encountered a need for a new method of troop deployment. The Syndicate’s AAL-2100/9.5 dropships were horribly obsolete. While they were the top-of-the-line during the First Order-Resistance War, they had seen better centuries. Compared to the new generation of dropships used by other factions, such as the Mandalorian MNV-56 Keldab, they were essentially flying coffins.
To solve this problem, the Pyke Syndicate commissioned the Glolmark Corporation to create a new model of dropship for their exclusive use. The Corporation followed through with the D-59. This new design is much faster and more survivable than the AAL-2100/9.5, and carries twice as many troops. D-59s have seen combat on planets such as Imroosia and Dathomir, where they have proven very effective.
