Strengths:
  • Tungsten parts allows the inner workings of the weapon to survive heat up to the tungsten's melting point of 3695 K (3422 °C, 6192 °F).
  • Heat beam does not cause the weapon to recoil or otherwise kick back.
  • Heatbeams capable of melting even durasteel, with excellent range.
Weaknesses:
  • Wooden frame is easily damaged by most vibroblade weapons, lightsabers ect. making the weapon uncomfortable and unwieldly when damaged, not to mention the fact that there is nothing to keep this from being damaged by lightsabers.
  • Extended use of the weapon without hand protection can lead to anything from minor discomfort to burns, due to the heated blasts of each shot and the metal frame.
  • Lever action design limits fire rate.
DESCRIPTION
One of The blackspire company's first editions to the Bounty Hunter league's armoury for league hunter's only, marketed to draw the attention of potential recruits, as the weapon is currently free to new hunters joining the league. It is described by the blackspire company as a gruesome, but fun way to dispatch enemies, saying "Who doesn't love a good ole' beam weapon? no recoil, just a beam of fun and destruction waiting to be claimed by hunters like you, Available at Blackspire outpost to league members only for a limited time only" though, that limited time has been extended several times since the weapon was unveiled, and there is no end in sight.

[member="Tarken Tarask"], Seems counter productive to me to have a wooden furniture on a weapon that can get hot enough to almost but not quite melt the barrel you are using.

See, your thigh bone touches the knee bone, which touched the shin bone. With that in mind, Your hot barrel is touching the wood, which is also touching your hands. The barrel would become so hot, the stock would burst into flames as you are holding it. Because I for sure know that wood starts to sublimate at a couple hundred degrees F.

Secondary to this, Why would you create a weapon that can fire a beam of heat hot enough that are nearing the temperature of a planet's core/Mantle? In order for a person to be standing next to lava/Magma, they have to wear protective suits so they don't burn up. And that is only at a couple hundred degrees F. This gun is firing at nearly 200 times that amount.

The risk for this cooking the user alive is much more prominent than you actually being able to fire the weapon and hit someone else with it.

Never specified the heat output, Only the irl verified melting point of the tungsten itself.
the wiki doesn't give a clear indication of the original heatbeam's total heat output, only that it can damage durasteel or something like that.

If the wood is too big of a deal, than I'll find another ref.

I'm making a small edit rn to specify that those numbers belong to tungsten itself, not the weapon's output.
If for some reason this still requires protective wear, I'll make further edits as needed.
