Rationale: Previously directed by Strask, Raziel has gained massive influence over Spynet for his loyalty to Salem Norongachi during his revolution.
OOC: I discussed this with Valik on Skype as I’ll be submitting various pieces of tech from this R&D group, Strask previously has, and it seemed sensible to sub to have their limitations defined. If this is not necessary and I can submit technology with this manufacturer without company sub, then this is unnecessary.
Tier: Tier 1 [A self-imposed limit of only limited production in house]
Description: Prototype Lab Q is composed of ~300 highly skilled and qualified scientists and engineers drawn from within Confederate space. This is the research and development arm of Spynet, specialising in developing devices and technology to increase the performance of field operatives.
The department maintains close links with academia within the sector, and will often clear field experts from universities to work on particular products.
It should be noted that the Confederacy has a much larger department that specialises in cyber operations, and this is not the main focus of the lab’s efforts. They will often collaborate, particularly when Spynet is interested in devices and code for field agents who need to slice, or interfere with comms.
When a product is found to have applications for the wider market, the designs will be reduced in classification. Spynet will put out a tender to have a corporation manufacture the product on a larger scale.
Prototype lab Q is not a company, and is driven by central funding, not by sales. The effective use of its products, and current military status of the CIS affects its funding.
