Ruusan, Mid Rim

(Continued from closed threads within the Bryn'adul Standoff Invasion)

Drel kept on behind Sehvis as they traveled towards the village on the far side of Ruusan. They had been making their way for a while and were nearing the location of the village hopefully very soon. On the other hand, the invasive presence that Drel had sensed earlier had returned and was getting stronger and closer every hour. Time was certainly not on their side. However, if they sped things up and moved out too quickly with the evacuation, they risked even a higher chance of being discovered by the evil forces within the vicinity of the star system.

This world had been through the worst and would probably see more destruction and decimation before the Bryn were defeated. However, Drel would do whatever he could to prevent any civilians or innocent people from losing their livelihoods and importantly, their lives. As unfortunate as it may seem, most worlds can be rebuilt, families cannot.

A few moments later, Drel could feel it within the force. The first signs of nomadic civilization were near. The village was soon to be found.

They continued on. Sehvis was quiet. Though, her being quiet was a normal thing, it was the cause of her being quiet that was particularly of note. She was both worried and curious. She had a power on the elders of her people possessed. To sense the presence of the lingering force from the dead. Though, the long dead was certainly something even the elders could not do. She was given to the Jedi due to her prowess among her people, but she had no clue what the gap was. Though she was also glad her people's ways are proving successful.

Master Drel seemed troubled whenever she looked behind her. Her piercing beeds clacked in the breeze as she lead the way. This trail was very familiar now. They were certainly getting close. As they continued over a bluff, and then down into a small river valley, she could smell the cookfires. The food was different than her childhood on Dathomir, but she knew it was her people's cooking. A small smile went across her lips with the joyful memories.

The two ventured closer, and then the roofs of the shacks the clans of her people made for this new village. It was not her home, but it was as good of a home she could ever call. Yet, it was now going away again. It will be moved to another foreign land. Another frontier they would have to dwell within. A new place to attempt to put down roots. It was a little saddening for her, but it was part of her duty to her people to warn the elders of the coming threat. One more great than the wars among the Imperials. One that could threaten their very existence rather than just the surrounding landscape.

Continuing into the village, a look of surprise was seen on the villagers, many of which were her own kin. Her father, the clan leader of Ynin, was the first to approach her.
"Father.", Sehvis warmly, but calmly said.
There was no other words before the two hugged. It has been quite a while since she had seen her father. They would release, and Sehvis would say again,
"I come baring bad news for us. There is another war raging nearby. Our people's village lies in the front lines. We came here to warn you and to have the Elders make judgement before it is too late."
She gestured at Drel behind her when she said "we".
"Your business is very grave and important. However, we must also have some time to reconnect as family. We have to celebrate you returning. You know that as well as I do."
Her smile returned to her face as she did the bow. Her father reciprocated.
"Can I at least speak with the elders while that is being prepared?"
Her father paused a moment then said, "Yes. Though, you should speak with them anyway to let them know you have arrived."
"Thank you, father."
She then looked back to Master Drel, and pointed where they were to go. She then lead him to the elder's shelter. It was the largest of the shacks in the village. Entering it, there was a rather large brazier with a fire going at full strength. It was the only light in the audience room where mats made from local animal hide were on the floor for the elders to sit in. The servant there rushed in at the sight of Sehvis entering, and the elders slowly followed out. Many were not as feeble as their age would suggest, though they all were wizened with age. They also emanated with the force. Compared to the others of her people in the village, these ones would be palpable to the two Jedi. There was one for the fifteen clans of the village. One looked at Sehvis more warmly though. That one was her great-grandmother.

Sehvis did her people's bow, and the elders reciprocated from their seated positions.
"I have returned. I stand before you all wise elders not only to show you my presence, but also to bare bad news for our people. I bring with me Jedi Master Drel Natrik. He can tell you what is going on far better than I could."

Drel followed his Padawan over the bluff and into the small river valley. Soon after, lied the peaceful village where Sehvis's kin resided.

The Besalisk Jedi followed Sehvis into the village where the residents gave some odd looks. Soon a man appeared through the crowd and approached them. Just as he closed in on Sehvis, Drel could sense the connection between them. When Sehvis spoke, it spoke the truth to Drel in full. Her father. He would approach and embrace his daughter in a hug. Sehvis then greeted him but bared the bad news that they had brought. As she motioned back at Drel with a gesture, the Jedi Master stepped once or twice closer behind his Padawan and soon faced towards her father and gave him a half bow, attempting to show honor & respect. He otherwise didn't interfere with anything else at the moment, he just stood behind his Padawan and waited patiently.

As his apprentice spoke with her father, the man mentioned traditional rites and honors that must occur now that Sehvis had returned. Drel was curious about how the Vong Hybrids worked and functioned and if they were to similar to what stigmas and perceptions had been attached to the Yuuzhan Vong for centuries. So far, it seemed like they a more peaceful sector of Vong, probably helped with the fact that most were hybrids. The village seemed somewhat large from what Drel had already seen of it. It was not the most prosperous and probably was nothing more than an nomadic resting place until Sehvis and her people were forced to relocate here.

Soon Sehvis and her father finished speaking for now, with Sehvis and Drel now making their way to speak to the village elders. Sehvis soon pointed to where they were going, as he followed her lead. They reached the largest shelter in the village, about twice the size of the rest of the structures. With an oddly shaped roof and wooden slate sparsely configured around the sides, Drel could see how moderately and quietly these people lived out here. As the two of them entered, a big brazier full with flame placed in the center lit the whole room up with firelight. Mats of animal pelts and hide were spread across the floor, used for the seats of the elders. When a local servant boy saw Sehvis, he rushed into the structure as well. The village elders now took their places among the hides on the floor. Each one was burdened with age and wear, but Drel could see that they were not as unable as some might suggest. Then, when Drel had fully entered the room, he began to feel it. The Force. It was emanating from the elders. He sensed that they weren't entirely force-sensitive, but the force indeed expressed itself heavily through these elders. Through them, the force worked peacefully in whichever way its will saw fit. He now understood more clearly of the force potential possessed by Sehvis, that not all of it was based on her Mitichlorian count. The Force could influence more than just the natural ability to wield it. This has been seen many times before, but never with a group of beings such as these Vong Hybrids. Of course, Sehvis had mentioned this to him earlier, but now he truly saw it take full form. This is where Drel truly believed that there was something exceptional special about Sehvis, and by extension, her kin. He came back the reality at hand and focused back up, as a curious smile remained upon his face. These elders, of which there were fifteen, all radiated the peaceful nature of the Force. This eased Drel temporarily from the previous senses he had on the way to the village, which still were placed in the back of his mind. For now, he ignored them and remained in the moment, just as his old instructors had taught him many years ago. Sehvis soon positioned herself at the precise placement and began. She first bowed in the way of her people as the elders soon all followed suit and in unison all bowed the same way back at Sehvis. Then she would speak.

Sehvis would greet them softly and cordially, as well as finishing with the motion to have Drel better explain the situation at hand. Already an extremely accomplished unofficial diplomat, the Besalisk was not worried about how he would fare, but the fact that the force was involved with these beings, meant that he had to be more direct and honest. Drel would now step forward and speak cordially to the elders of the village.

Drel started by copying their people's honors and bowed to them in a similar to how Sehvis had done, hoping to incite some respect and honor. Perhaps even trust. After that foray, he placed a welcoming smile upon his face he would begin with his words.

"Greetings wise ones, I am Drel Natrik, Jedi Master". "I come before you with a member of your people, my Padawan, to inform you of the current storm approaching". "This storm is called the Bryn'adul". "They consume all before them and spare no life". "This menace has already destroyed many worlds, and now they wish to obliterate Ruusan next". "The wave of annihilation will come, this is certain". "In fact, there are some of them already on Ruusan as we speak".

"The hard truth is that your village is in serious danger". "However, it is not too late". "If you would allow us, we can escort you to the nearest trading post and evacuate everyone onto transports". "Other evacuations are taking place all across the planet and the sector itself, hoping to get out as many as possible".

"I will not demand anything of you, I only ask that you observe the situation and think of your people when making your decision, thank you". With that Drel stepped back to let the conversation between the elders commence.

Sehvis listened, as usual. The news was grim, and rather annoying considering this was thought to be their new home after Dathomir. Hopefully a much safer location would be possible. Thanks to her master's ship, she could look the maps of nearby worlds to relocate to that would be more hospitable for the long term. A few seemed nice and stable while also allowing them to just disappear into the wilderness without much difficulty. Maps also just fascinated her. She found their use, and the techniques they could be made, very interesting. So much information could be conveyed with so little words. A simple line can dictate an entire region's portrayal.

As her master finished speaking, there was silence. Sehvis was used to this. It usually took a bit for the elders to mull over what they have been told before making an answer. They were usually cautious like that. One of them spoke. His voice was clear, yet his first words after breaths were slightly raspy.

"That was what we must have sensed this morning. Something was off in the wind today."
The others nodded in agreement.
It was then the elder of Sehvis' clan that spoke next,
"If you have trained her, and she trusts you, I trust your judgement. Though, what world would we find next to settle. The core usually has peace, yet the outer rim can be ignored despite its wild nature. I propose we pack tonight and leave tomorrow."
There was a murmur among the elders after that statement. It was unintelligible for Sehvis. However, the looks on their faces were either confusion or agreement.
Another spoke, one of the oldest of them all, "How quickly must we move away from this world? How soon will we find the next? If war is coming, and monstrous beings shall descend from the stars, how soon will that come? I want to understand the degree of urgency that is required."

Sehvis was not surprised by this reaction. She would have been surprised if they decided to stay. It was more on the "how" they would leave rather than the "if" they will leave.

Drel listened to the elders as they spoke. They were certainly carefully examining the difficult situation before them. The first of them spoke, saying that they must have sensed the disturbance earlier, the same one that Drel had felt since they arrived. The elder of his Padawan's clan now spoke. He spoke directly to him, stating that if Sehvis trusted him, then he would too. Drel was certainly a bit hopeful after that response. Then the elder asked what world they could move to and that they should leave Ruusan in short order. The rest of the group murmured in both agreement and a bit of confusion as well. Then a moment later, the elders stopped their mumbling as the oldest of them postured up in his seated position and looked directly at the Jedi Master, but his words would project to everyone within the room. His presence wasn't very soothing and seemed more weathered and experienced, like a trusty old oak tree. Drel could now sense the years of age and wisdom upon the being. The elder soon asked, "How quickly must we move away from this world? How soon will we find the next? If war is coming, and monstrous beings shall descend from the stars, how soon will that come? I want to understand the degree of urgency that is required."

Drel pondered briefly and then began to respond, resuming a strong straight posture as he spoke to the old one. "The Future is always in constant motion". "However, there is one certainty I am sure of". "The Bryn are coming, and they are coming very soon". "War is about to arrive, wise one, and will soon be at your door". He now spoke to the whole group again. "If you are to evacuate, we do have worlds that could accommodate your people". "Worlds like
Taanab, Reytha, Kattada all have areas that can be settled". "However my Padawan had found this world while searching for suitable planets". Drel pulled out his holorecorder and the holo of the world came up. "It is One of the moons of Dohlban and almost completely uninhabited". "It is relatively small but is also entirely filled with forests and only located 6 parsecs away".

"What your choice may be, the Silver Jedi and myself can assure you of safety once we have evacuated your people here from Ruusan". "And if you are to evacuate, we must do it as soon as possible". "The Bryn do not know rest".
