Proper Interviews

[member="Cato Marek"]

It seemed the Kuat Drive Yards name has truly gotten out, now. Their rebuilding of the Orbital Array had finally been finished, and they had completed a great defense of Coruscant. But surely, people probably heard about the first Imperial III-class rolling out of the Shipyard. Either way, contact had been established from one 'Cato Marek,' a younger individual than Ferron would have expected, but it seemed they had plans to take over a Chief Operations Officer position for one of his companies, and of course Ferron was open to the idea to hear him out. Cato would be given early clearance to the Orbital Arrays spaceport, and the Portmaster would be directed to give the man escort to Ferrons office. Between the spaceport and Ferrons office, there would be Unirail he would have to ride to get to another part of the Orbital Array, but it didn't take long at all. Once he would arrive, Ferron would be looking things up in the holonet, preparing for the meeting.

Cato stepped into one of the Unirail cabins as it arrived at the spaceport, a clean and friendly interior welcoming him as he entered. The recent construction here was impressive, even more so than he had anticipated. An imposing and massive, yet still regal structure surrounded the planet. As the Unirail began moving at a rapid pace, Cato glanced out of a side window to see the planet Kuat below. No doubt it would be worth visiting as well, as so often he couldn't resist when on business like this, or simply passing through for that matter.

The Unirail come to a stop, announcing the arrival to the section he needed to come to meet Ferron. After ushering Cato down a hallway, the portmaster indicated the door that led to Ferron's office.

Cato nodded towards the portmaster "Thank you."

He then pressed the door caller "Cato Marek, here to see Ferron Troste."

Ferrons Office didn't have a waiting room or anything. It had a seat outside, but it was nothing serious. It wasn't intended for him to have a long line of visitors. So in that, he was free most of the time, at least the time he scheduled. As he heard that Cato Marek had arrived, he finished up his work and adjusted his uniform, "Ah, welcome, please come in." With Ferrons report, the clone escorts opened the door to Ferrons office and let Cato in. The escorts did not follow, but there was one Clone Trooper already inside the Office, off to the far wall and out of the way. The Clone did not pay any mind to Cato, so it seemed he wasn't there for Cato, just there as a normal precaution for day to day business.

Ferron got up from his seat and come around his desk, extending a hand to greet Cato. "Greetings, it's good to meet you C...?" He gestured for the man to present himself, "Please, sit down. Do you need a drink, or anything while we chat?" He offered Cato to sit in any of the two comfortable chairs in front of his desk.

Cato took a brief glance around the office, and began to remind himself to relax. To be interviewed for a position in Kuat Drive Yards was not to be taken lightly, but ultimately the outcome was out of his hands. Approaching Ferron, he accepted his handshake with warm enthusiasm "Cato Marek, a pleasure to meet you Mr. Troste."

Taking a seat on one of the chairs, he couldn't help but feel loosened and relaxed by the comfort "A glass of water, if possible, thank you."

The security for the structure appeared more than safe, which was definitely to his satisfaction if he was to be working for the company. No expense spared, he supposed.

Ferron nodded as he gestured to the guards at the door, with them closing it. He walked back over to his desk after the handshake and sat down, bringing up his Commlink, "This is President Troste to the Staff Room, can I get someone to bring up a glass of water, please?" He requested over the commlink. Soon enough, it chirped up with a response, letting the room know they;'ll be up shortly. Ferron smiled and got himself relaxed in his chair, lacing his fingers together as he looked over to Cato. "Alright, mister Marek. How about we start off with you... tell me how you found out about the job offer and why you want it? My reputation is well enough known if you were able to find me, but I don't know anything about you. What makes you think you are qualified for the job? Sorry, I hope you don't take offense to that, I'm merely chocking up conversation, I don't mean to put you on the spot, but I do want to hear something from you. I don't want to sit here awkward as we stare at each other pondering what's for lunch," he chuckled slightly, taking a breath as he gave Cato Marek the floor to speak his mind.

Cato listened attentively to Ferron as he spoke, nodding at the questions "Of course Mr. Troste, I understand the importance of finding the right person for the job, and those are important questions. I was made aware about the position when looking over the contracts for the Commenor Systems Alliance. I have served the Queen there, and upon further examination of the company; Kuat Drive Yards, that is, I was pleasantly surprised from what I found. You must understand yourself that finding large companies with any sense of morality is rare these days, and KDY appeared to have a very good reputation when it came to good business practices. As for my interest in the position, I've been looking for a corporate position for a short while. I have served in both military and civilian administration capabilities, and still do, but the opportunity to expand my skills and contribute to a company that I have found quite appealing was something that I felt very strongly towards. The elephant in the room is that I'm obviously young, maybe too young for some people. But I believe that is also a benefit to the position, if you do choose me. I'm motivated, and I want to prove myself to the company."

He took a deep drink as the water arrived.

Ferron nodded as he listened to the man speak, taking it all in and processing it well. He liked his answer. "Age means nothing. Of course, I would never assign a child to this job, but it's all the same; experience is what matters. Age only means how long you'll stay with the company," he chuckled a short bit. "Ah, yes... Commenor. Did you realize the Major Contract we had with them? They provide us with protection, and I supply them with the tools they need to become an impenetrable fortress. I'm somewhat frigid about giving the technology away, I always fear the will be another Galactic Empire.... but the Sith Empire and First Order are doing that already, and thankfully the ones I'm giving the wondrous technology of Kuat Drive Yards to is to a neutral organization, wanting peace and prosperity, defense over hostility. Perhaps you've seen some of the custom work already showing up by CSA planets and in systems?" Ferron took a breath and adjusted himself. The time for pleasantries was over. Some very serious business had to be talked about and that time was now, "now comes the part you tell me why you should be CHief Operations Officer. You were interested in Kuat Systems Engineering, right? I'm waiting for a scientist to take over Kuat Biological Systems, and I aplogize but currently no one qualifies for the position in Kuat Drive Yards. I understand you have military and political experience, but you need to tell me why you are the Officer I need for KSE."

Cato took another sip from the glass before responding "I know that you've spent a large amount of effort to foster a certain culture here at KDY. I firmly believe that I fit within that culture, and can assist with continuing to bring forward the company in that regard. Your employees are important to you, and if you hire me, they will very much be important to me as well, that's a promise. I also know that you're not exactly looking for average when you're hiring for one of the largest companies in the galaxy. I can assure you that I don't, and won't stop at "Good enough". I'm not an in-and-out kind of guy Mr. Troste, I'm here for the long-run. I'm not a jaded corporate transfer, I'm a leader, and I believe in what I say and do. When you ask something of me, you can be damned sure I will try my best to get it done."

The man proposed a lot of promises, a lot of get-it-done vigor. It was a lot for him to claim, but Ferron didn't quite object to it. "I hope you can do more than talk, mister Marek. I can do a lot of talking when I want to, hell, I should write speeches when it gets heated. But I'm going to require more than just talk. I'll let you be Chief for a little while, test you out. Kuat Systems Engineering needs some modern-era civilian sensors, navigational computers, targeting systems, basically.... whatever we have right now is outdated to hell. I wanna see you throwing down some good civilian-level products so we can provide more to the less military-inclined powers that be in the galaxy. Do me proud, and you'll have that position for life. How does that sound?"

Cato smiled and nodded in agreement with Ferron's words "Of course, Mr. Troste. I will try my best. The civilian market has indeed been lacking with those options, lately. Many ships, but little customization options. I hope to release products to your standards. In addition, was there anything of concern that you wanted me to know about how you wish me to conduct things? I'm happy to follow the rules you put down to the letter. Certainly, despite the company's considerable growth, there is much that must still be considered heavily in order to keep the company going that way."

Ferron nodded, clasping his hands together, "good, good, mister Marek. I look forward to seeing what you bring out of your newfound position. Just remember, Chief Operations Officer has access and use to the company, but don't try to take it from me. As for how to act? You have access to Kuati Sector Forces files, I'm sure it'll be easy for you to locate the organizations Modus Operandi. That's really all you need. I don't expect everyone to be a beacon of good and justice in the galaxy, but you'll do your damndest not to break the law, or my trust." Ferron stood up, smiling. He reached his hand out. "It's nice to have you on board, Chief Marek."

Cato stood up with Ferron, taking his hand and shaking it for a farewell "It was good meeting with you Mr. Troste. I should be on my way now, I wouldn't want to keep you occupied any longer. Good luck with the main affairs of the company, I will be sure to keep in touch to keep you updated on everything."

Finishing the last of the glass of water, he made his way to exit the office, nodding curtly to the clone who was standing guard. As he came out, he spoke to the portmaster "Thank you, I'm ready to leave now."

Taking one last look around the place, he stepped onto the transport satisfied. It was only as he was arriving at the other end that he let out a sigh of relief, though the position would no doubt require much work for the coming future.
