ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Intensify Forward Firepower: The new Gladiator packs a serious punch.
  • Assault Ship: The Gladiator has an enchanced directional shield capability similar to that on strikecraft but unusual on capital ships. Being a ship designed for planetary assaults, it uses this to weather incoming fire and breach enemy defenses.
WEAKNESSES
  • Knife Tang: No offensive firepower to the rear.
  • From Concentrate: The significant firepower of the gladiator is almost entirely focused on its six primary turrets. Eliminating even one is a noticable reduction in power.
DESCRIPTION
A recent addition to the First Order's roster of Warships, the Gladiator (Block III) fills a role previously unsupported, that of a hybrid assault ship. Smaller but more cavernous than the upgraded Marauder Cruiser, the Gladiator is not designed purely for ship-to-ship combat, though it performs more than adequately at that role. Instead it is designed to support planetary invasions and orbital assault forces with both fire support, command and control, and landing capability.

Primary armament consists of 6 twin turrets mounting 40tt Annihilator Turbolaser Cannons. A few quad turbolasers are mounted for additional protection against corvettes, but otherwise most of the power and space available is taken up by a large suite of point defense cannons, unified by the latest version of Bastion into an impressive defensive suite that is also perfectly capable of shredding smaller vessels. The Gladiator also features a larger than normal set of tractor beam projectors, to aid in landing and assault operations, as well as both offensively and defensively.

Beyond the features noted above the Gladiator is reminiscent of much of the modern sequence of First Order ships. Though expertly engineered and well designed, it lacks many of 'flashy' and new-age tech common across the galaxy. It is no less effective as a result, however, and is testament to the returning power of the First Order.
