PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

He is a newly trained, disciplined but still impressionable soldier—someone shaped more by instruction than experience.
Focused and obedient: He follows orders cleanly and without hesitation, trusting the chain of command because he hasn’t yet seen it fail him in a personal way.

Quietly observant: He notices details—tone shifts in officers, tension in squadmates, inconsistencies in mission briefings—but doesn’t always know what to do with them yet.

Controlled under pressure (for now): In training scenarios he stays steady, but real combat would still be a new test of his limits.

Respectful, not hardened: He treats authority and peers with basic military respect, not cynicism or skepticism.

Internally curious: He asks questions in his own mind more than out loud—about the war, the Republic, and what kind of soldier he’s becoming.
He hasn’t yet developed the emotional armor of a veteran—just the discipline of a recruit trying to do things correctly.

Core Beliefs (Instilled by the High Republic Army)
“Order prevents collapse.”

He believes the Republic exists to stop chaos from swallowing systems entirely.

“A soldier’s duty is to follow command.”
Even when uncertain, structure is what keeps people alive.

“The High Republic represents stability worth protecting.”

Not perfect, but better than the alternatives he’s been told about.

HISTORY

Jorik Dane was born into a galaxy that had already forgotten what peace felt like.
His homeworld, once aligned with the High Republic, became a battleground for shifting control—raided by insurgents, defended by overstretched Republic forces, and slowly worn down by years of conflict that no one side ever truly won.

As a child, Jorik didn't see heroes.
He saw soldiers.
He watched High Republic troops arrive in clean armor and organized formations—bringing order, if only temporarily. They didn't stay long, but when they were there, things changed. Markets reopened. Streets were safer. People breathed easier.

Then they would leave.
And everything would fall apart again.
That cycle shaped him.
Jorik didn't grow up believing the High Republic was perfect—but he saw what happened when it wasn't there.

When he came of age, enlistment wasn't a dramatic decision.
It was inevitable.

He joined the Grand Army of the High Republic not for glory, and not out of blind loyalty—but because he had lived on the edge of collapse long enough to understand what holding the line actually meant.
Training was fast, efficient, and uncompromising. The galaxy didn't have the luxury of long preparation anymore.

Jorik adapted quickly—his upbringing giving him an edge over recruits who had never seen real conflict.

By the time he was deployed, he already understood something many soldiers learn too late:

War doesn't end when you win a battle.
It ends when someone is still there to keep things from falling apart afterward.
Now serving as a Private, Jorik fights not because he believes the High Republic will fix everything—
—but because he knows what happens if no one tries.
