The Preservation Gardens held no real interest for the lethan. Lazing in the branches of a young wroshyr tree, Grace was hidden to all who passed through her signature impossibly small, the light bending around her in perfect mastery of stealth. These things that came easily, that she understood she knew without ever needing to try and understand the how or the why.
She had made a choice when she’d agreed to play @Mercy’s game. Whoever she was made from, whatever emotions and attachments that woman had had…they were not hers. The power though? That she would claim. Movement beneath her drew her eye, her head turning lazily to watch the cup bearer out of the corner of her eye, lips pulling into a smirk.
Grace shifted, twisting on the branch she was sprawled across like a cat till she was upright, her legs swinging free beneath her seat. Slender fingers drew a cigarette from a pocket, setting it between her lips, fingers snapping noiselessly to produce a flame. The acrid smoke would hit Cassilde’s nostrils first, and beneath it the copper tang of blood.
Only when the tension knit into the Hapan’s shoulders once more did Grace unveil herself, ankles crossed swinging gently beneath her seat on the branch above her.
But that didn’t mean she wouldn't play.
“You are a pretty little thing, aren’t you?”
