Name: Thopians
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: Thopnir
Language: Thope, Galactic Standard Basic
Average Lifespan: 114
Estimated Population: As common as Zabrak's or Devaronian's, though mostly confined to the outer rim worlds.

Average height of adults: 1.8 meters
Average length of adults: N/A
Skin color: Grey's and typical white to brown flesh tones.
Hair color: Hair generally ranges from black to white, with a range of reddish-brown inbetween, and blonde being rare.
Distinctions: The primary distinction between them and humans is that they all possess some form of horns growing atop their head. These range from around 7 cm up to 30 cm in length. The majority only have two horns, but a subset within the species has been known to grow several horns. This is rare and considered undesirable. In addition, the species has pointed ears, similar to Devaronians or Fay. The final unique characteristic of the species is that they are all female. There are no male Thopians.

Breathes: Type I
Strengths:
  • Asexual Reproduction: The species reproduces asexually, meaning they, since they are all women, reproduce by effectively cloning themselves, and giving birth to their clone.
  • Inclusive Society: Having a society of inclusion has endeared them to most species who have encountered them. Despite the fact that they often carry or own symbolic ancient weaponry, they are not prone to using it.
Weaknesses:
  • Allergic to Fish: (refer to diet) Causes abdominal pain and respiratory distress. Can lead to death without prompt treatment.
  • All Female Species: There are no males in their species, which can lead to some outside species who favor sexism to treat them negatively.

Races: There are two distinct races, denoted by skin tone.
  • Those with a fleshy skin tone are considered to be the base line Thopians. They are often called Superiors because they possess the dominant skin traits. Additionally, they very rarely have the subspecies of multi-horned Thopians develop from them. The image at the beginning of this submission depicts a Thopian Superior.
  • The more grey-skinned of the species are called Seconds, only among their own people, because they possess the non-genetically dominant skin trait, and often have white hair. They tend to be more aggressive than the Superiors, and typically join the military because of this. The image below depicts a Thopian Second.

Diet: Thopians are omnivores, but are curiously allergic to all species of fish. It won't kill them, as long as they seek proper medical treatment. If they do eat it, it causes severe abdominal pain and respiratory distress as the air passages close up due to inflammation.

Communication: Communication is done through audible spoken language. Most Thopians are fluent in Thope, the language of Thopnir itself, as well as Galactic Standard Basic. Additionally, because of the other cultures that live on their world, they often learn additional languages in the spectrum of spoken word in order to communicate with these species effectively.

Culture: Culturally they are unique. Possessed of a deep, and often violent, history, they have clung to the past and relished it for what it was, rather than rejecting it. The reason for this is rather simple: by relishing it for what it was, rather than forgetting it, they hope to avoid the problems of the past by keeping the issues at the forefront of their discussion. This keeps them from forgetting what caused the problems, which prevents a relapse into whatever it was that did cause them. Prevention through remembrance.

Unlike most societies which may suffer great strain from remembering these tragedies, it is not so for the Thopians. No longer possessed of multiple governments, and unified under a district council of voted representation, they do not possess the multiple armies which fought over land and resources. Nor do they seek to throw out the Seconds or the subspecies because of their differences. They have adapted to life without war, and become a society of inclusion. Many races have settled on their homeworld, and they have been accepted as members of the planets society and often adapt into its culture. This is acceptable to them in large part because their genetics cannot be altered by outsiders.

Culturally, they view the Force as the lifeblood of the galaxy. They don't see it as a perceived deity, but almost like a sort of energy that is inherently involved in all life in the galaxy. It is, to them, the basis of life, but not the creator of it. Those who are capable of tapping into the Force, which they call Marsan, often become heavily involved in the preservation of the planets flora and fauna. In essence, they become druids. The Followers of Marsan are not a dark side cult. In fact, the use of Marsan for violence is strictly forbidden, and those caught doing so are punished by death without the allowance for reproduction (further explained in general behavior and history).

The Followers of Marsan are not heavily involved in the government, but are often represented in some fashion through the election of one of its members as representative of their home district. There is almost always one Follower on the council. The council itself is revered as the highest law of the land aside from the Kathol Republic, which they are a part of.

The Thopians do possess a sort of military/security force of their own. It basically serves the function of policing the populace to ensure law and order, though is capable of assisting the Kathol Republic's forces in defending the planet if that were to become necessary. They are not seasoned warriors, which the Thopians no longer possess, but they are still capable of doing their duties. Below is a depiction of one of their officers.

Technology level: While they possess galactic standard technology levels, they have a propensity for relishing the past. Most possess a bare minimum amount of technology on their person or in their home. Most wear clothing reminiscent of ages past, and own simple bladed weapons that are often of symbolic family value from ages past. Still, blasters and suitable armor are common on the world, and they do possess starship technology that they've purchased from outside vendors to provide for their defense.

General behavior: [Describe general behaviors]

History: [Describe an abridged history. If your species is genetically engineered or Sithspawn, this is where to add links to the thread(s) where your new species was developed. A development thread, whether of creation or discovery, is required for all genetically engineered/alchemically created life forms being submitted to the Factory.]

Notable Player-Characters: None

Intent: To create the native species of the planet Thopnir, which is taking a central role in an upcoming TKO run campaign.
