GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Media Name: "Prakazi - A Juyo Dueling Technique", by Darth Maliphant
  • Format: Alchemized Leather Book
  • Distribution: Rare
  • Length: Medium
    • Word Count: 56,210
  • Description:
    • To help establish his own reputation as a capable duelist, Darth Maliphant has delved into the realm of writing documentation of techniques one can use in Juyo. The first of these is an advanced form of Juyo self-proclaimed as 'Prakazi' - the effort of utilizing one's own depth in the Dark Side to control the Force around a Jedi opponent, and to a lesser degree even Sith. Notably useful to give false positives to Jedi reliant on precognition, as the duelist can twist the Force to imply a strike from a different direction; amplified by the nature of Juyo leading to more guaranteed strikes.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Darth Maliphant
  • Publisher: Self
  • Reception:
    • Following in Velok's own manner, there is a very limited number of these books around. Partially done to make a false sense of 'exclusivity', and partially done to make them a more valuable gift to those he handed them too - it has found itself a surprisingly warm welcome in the various circles of the Sith that enjoy theory crafting and dialectics. In this specific case, the information held within has certain mentions of Force rituals and sciences that could be considered dangerous - and have therefor been highly sought after by those who know of them.
FORMAT INFORMATION

Crafted from Leviathan Leather and enhanced with short-term memory enchantments, these books are as much a piece of art as they are a source of information. Specifically made by Maliphant's own hand, it sees the benefits of a master alchemist putting their skills to the craft of bookbinding; doing more than binding its pages with thick sinew, but making it a piece of art a sith can enjoy for years to come. From its swirling leather cover, to the leviathan eye at its center that seems to stare endlessly at its host - these books carries even more love and tender care within its dark pages.
Each page is made from the skin of either mandalorians lost during the invasion of Mandalore, or otherwise sourced from Jedi Shadow's sent to kill Maliphant on more than a few occasions. While some are simply the artificial growth of skin cells, a few rare pages are made from the real original skin torn from the jedi's flesh. Each is lined with the blood of Maliphant, mixed carefully with corrupted kyber crystal to give each ur-Kittat word a wonderful sheen and glow. Truly, a work of art representative of Maliphant's need to be extra in all that he does.

CONTENT INFORMATION

  • Part 1, "Historic Accounts of Juyo"
    • "... When facing a Jedi in combat, a Sith might notice the Jedi's ability to predict ones strikes more often than not. This is due to their intrinsic 'zen' with the Force, allowing the very nature of the Force to guide their movements to counter a Sith's. A gift of the Force itself, it is hard for Sith to overcome this without simply overwhelming the opponent..."
    • "... Historically, this has been done through Juyo. Considered a 'Sith Style', Juyo has been able to utilize the Dark Side in combination to exceptional lightsaber skill and style transitions to create an 'unpredictable' and overwhelming style that seems more like a hurricane than anything of skill. Despite the complex nature of Juyo, this could be considered a simplistic solution to the problem - to face the Jedi's strength and overwhelm it is no different than asking a river to break a dam. While possible, it is not always the smartest choice - leaving many who specialize in the Juyo form to be considered little more than 'brutes' - with the exception of specific Juyo practitioners throughout history..."
    • "... Although unnamed, some of the most notable Sith in history have utilized this ability without a name - notably, Darth Sidious who used Juyo to cut down multiple Jedi Masters without them even reaction to his speed and intention - and those that did were cut down from an angle they had not predicted. All but Mace Windu - who in himself countered the skill by utilizing the Dark Side in his feed back loop to predict Sidious's Movements anyway..."
    • "... It should be noted that this will not be a book on how to utilize Juyo in its most basic form - but rather an advanced technique that will turn a maelstrom of blade and force energy into a tactically minded form meant for the strategist. It is not easy, requires extremely quick reactions and massive control - if you read this manuscript without considerable experience in Juyo and Dueling, do not attempt such in live exercises..."
  • Part 2, "Prakazi"
    • "... Historically hidden, Prakazi is the name of a technique few had ever realized was a thing until the days of Sidious. Renowned as one of the best duelists in galactic history, Sidious used multiple forms despite believing them poor and archaic weapons in comparison to the Force. Despite this, he had used the lightsaber to kill and maim multiple Jedi throughout history - even going toe to toe with one of the most notorious Jedi duelists without failing, Yoda. Mace Windu was arguably lost on purpose, but I will leave the debate for other manuscripts..."
    • "... Through the use of the Telos Holocron and learning the techniques from Sidious himself, I have learned some of the advanced techniques Sidious had utilized in his implementation of the style. Prakazi is one of the most basic - but difficult to manage without alerting the Jedi in question to your actions. The principle is simple, turn the intrinsic 'precognition' of the Jedi against them by manipulating the Force around them - effectively creating 'false positives' in their mind..."
    • "... These 'False Positives' are the result of mimicking the subtle cues Jedi get from the Force for your next move - only possible through Juyo due to its unpredictable nature. Were one to attempt the technique in any other form against an equally trained duelist, the other would quickly realize that the precognition they recieve betrays the footwork you would lay out - as where Juyo is seen as a thousand blades and highly aggressive, leave alone unique to the user, it is far more difficult to use physical reactions to counter it..."
    • "... Add on that Juyo requires far more Dark Side energy as compared to other styles, it allows the manipulation to be hidden behind the miasmatic cloud of the Dark Side one surrounds themselves with. It is highly important to blind the Jedi to your manipulations through a cover of power - waves of overwhelming Dark Side energy to cloud their deeper senses, only to quietly touch the Force they use to ground themselves with..."
    • "... The second difficulty is being able to use fine control of the Force around ones self while in the midst of a battle - leave alone it being layered over massive exertions of presence. Not only is this highly energy intensive, making it an ability that must be used in short bursts, but also requires an immense skill in manipulating the Force in a variety of ways at the exact same time. This makes Prakazi an 'advanced form' of an already highly advanced form - making it nearly unattainable for the vast majority of Force Users..."
    • "... Once one has established not only an aura of dominance that shrouds the Jedi's finer senses, but doubly managed to manipulate the Force in small ways that they would not notice - the issue then becomes using your skill in dueling to give a feint through the Force that aligns with your style. All these things in conjunction can allow you to fool a Jedi's senses into believing you are striking from their first quadrant, only to bring your strike heavy and fast from their third. While a simplistic example, all these things must work perfectly to allow for such..."
  • Part 3, "Weaknesses of the Technique"
    • "... As with any technique there are serious weaknesses one must consider when using the technique. First and foremost is that you are not as able to commit to the power as you'd believe - as Juyo is already a highly intensive technique, but to add on layers of complexity to the most complex form is asking for trouble for anything less than a highly trained master of the form..."
    • "... Jedi of profound skill may also see the feint - meaning that when the technique is done, it must be a decisive blow. A Jedi who you miss the strike on will know your strategy, and adjust their own senses to adapt quickly leaving no further opening for the same deal. One must know when to implement it, when to hold it back, and when to avoid it entirely..."
    • "... Against Jedi powerful in the style of Vaapaad, it should be noted that their super conductive loop will allow them to feel your powers in the Force. Because of this, they will more easily be able to predict your actions off your presence in the Force; likely allowing them to even utilize the ability against you, if they are so able. It should be noted that this was likely how Mace Windu managed to hold his own against Sidious for so long - after witnessing the technique used against the Jedi around him..."
    • "... Non Force Users or Jedi of less Force attunement will not be affected by the technique so long as they do not take cues from the Force; but the easier technique of Mind Domination should in these cases be utilized when able to force their blade away from where you intend to strike. The Technique can only be utilized against Jedi who are skilled enough to predict your actions, but not so skilled as to be on par with Yoda; who's powerful connection to the Force and Zen Nature allowed him to avoid the manipulations of Sidious despite multiple attempts to do exactly that..."

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Following multiple books written by Darth Maliphant about the workings of the Force, he realized that many of the Sith around the galaxy perhaps underestimated his ability to duel. While he carried portions of Sidious's own take that the true power of a Sith is the Force alone - he would not allow them to doubt his strength. Regarding himself as one of the premeire duelists, and a master of the Juyo Form, he would write the first of multiple manuscripts on Juyo techniques - releasing them to a very small group of Sith that could both appreciate his skill, and learn from his writings.
Adapting the knowledge from the Telos Holocron which Maliphant learns from constantly, he brought over the strategic use of the ability from Darth Sidious's own teachings. Something he had taught to Count Dooku and Maul, leading to both their skill in their respective fights but poorly implemented by the former. Count Dooku had attempted to do such during his duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker above Coruscant - but ended up failing due to the nature of his control in the Force being tight and precise, just as his Makashi style was. It was only near his death that he realized his weakness - though at that point it was too late for the former Jedi.
Taking these teachings, putting them to leather and parchment, Maliphant sent copies out to trust associates around the Galaxy to better teach them the ways of the style - notable duelists, and some of those he himself respected in the art of lightsaber combat.
