Practice Makes Perfect(Coryth)

Diana stood at the center of a small rotunda, walls echoing all around her as she made even the tiniest hint of noise. She was waiting here for one of the masters, she was here to practice her dueling. The thought made her smile slightly, dueling always gave her such pleasure, all the intricate plots and ploys. She had no idea who she was actually meeting here today. Just that they would be dueling, she hoped that whoever it was did not view lightsabers as simple toys.

It was truthfully rather exciting for the young Jedi Padawan, she had always enjoyed dueling and getting to fight another Jedi Master was simply...exciting. She had fought a Master before, though it had been rather unpleasant. This time however she just couldn't wait to start fighting.

“Please hurry.” She mouthed to herself, speaking to the Master that was not here. Of course her opponent could not hear her, but she could hardly contain herself. A Jedi Master was within another Tier. Fighting one would be fantastic, and unlike her previous duel with a powerful force user there was no chance of death. Silently she waited for her opponent, feeling no fear.

No, no fear would be present in the room today. For the tiny Jedi Master moved through the rooms of the temple finding her way to the training room. Memories washed through her from the first time she'd been in this place, stood on this ground. To her, this was hallowed ground, a special place. For her life had began in this room. Certainly she was fourteen, but her life had not yet begun until she came to the jedi, till she picked up her first saber. The woman at the time, had never seen or heard of the Jedi, backborn on a starship, destitute. Jedi were just stories the spacers told, they were nothing real. Myths. We are no myth. We are legend. We are fire, We are the shield, the sword and the staying hand.

Coryth wasn't wearing the usual Jedi robes, she only had in her youth, now grown it was her choice. A simple tank top, and loose black pants. Her feet bare, they always were. In this dress, this style her scars were not hidden. No, Jedi Master Coryth Elaris, had no reason to hide anymore. From anyone or anything. But the scars were deep, dark and gruesome. The crisscrossed so much of her body, only her hands, face and neck spared. That a story, she was unlikely to share. "Hello little one," She said softly, smiling looking up to the red head before her. Little one, was not a reference in height, but to her youth, her status as an padawan. "I'm Master Coryth Elaris, pleased to make your acquaintance." She said with a slight bow of her head. "But call me Cory. No need for titles here." In fact she hated the titles, people used them, abused them, hid behind them and that was in no way her.

"I was told you needed some training. While admittedly I'm not the best duelist, but I can certainly give you someone to practice with. Though for true power in this, you will have to seek another master. Which I'm sure I can guide you to someone. However, with the basics, with practice they are your grounding. Cling to them and you'll be alright." She said brightly smiling now. Nothing she loved more than young padawans. Somehow she missed so much having padawans, ones to train. Reminders of why she did miss the order. Some of it, yes missed dearly. Other parts ... the council, no.

Reaching down, she unclipped her saber from her belt, turning it on end, and adjusting the settings down to only a sting, maybe worst a mild burn. Eyes moved back to the girl, looking her over, now that she was was set to go. Though, she wondered if the girl would be the kind to strike first or the kind to wait for her partner to attack. Coryth never struck first. Never. Her saber was rarely used if ever. All other options had to be exhausted before she'd lift her blade.

Diana simply nodded along to the Jedi Master, not really knowing what to say. Clearly the woman was ready for a fight, something that the padawan was glad for. Slowly Diana reached for her own lightsabers, making sure that each of the weapons was toned down to practice mode, then she stepped forward readying herself to fight her prey. The Jedi Master had stated she was not keen on lightsaber combat, so perhaps Diana would have the advantage. She ignited her blades, today would be a good day.

“Thank you for this.” Diana said as she took another step forward. She steadied herself, and then bounded forward, determined not to miss.

Her first strike was wild, slicing towards Coryth's hip. Her second blade stabbed towards the womans knee, aiming to bring the other Jedi down. As she moved forward Diana moved her feet steadily, taking care not to slip.

Coryth smirked, she had her pinned right, the type to move first. That was fine, Coryth preferred to watch the other, first, let them move on her. Figure them out, and defend. By far she was not the offensive bladeswoman. Defense was her game, offense only if she had to. Only in the most extreme of circumstances. The familiar snap-hiss of her favored emerald blade heard as it sprang to life. Blade in her left hand, she slammed her blade against Diana's first saber. The second, she'd already seen a moment before, her hand up telekinesis shoving the blade off and down to her right.

Stepping back, Coryth naturally liked distance and did her best to keep it. She was never comfortable having someone inside her guard, too close for comfort. Space gave her time, and time was always needed given her gifts and what she did. Now her turn on the offense. Right hand lifted, she gave a push, though small, much more gentle and controlled than she'd have done against a true combatant, to try gain more space between herself and Diana. Now she stepped in, a little more comfortable with spacing driving her saber towards the other redhead's midsection.

Diana looked at Coryth as the woman attacked her. She tried to counter her, but found herself extremely lacking in that department. The Jedi padawan was not well off when it came to the force, and as Coryth struck her the world became a blur. Diana flew back several feet and her head began to spin. She frowned slightly as she came to a stop, holding herself upright as she stared at Coryth, she would not be beaten, at lightsaber combat she was a connoisseur.

With a small yelp of determination Diana bounded forward once again. This time she moved like a viper, her wrist flicking forward in a stab towards Coryths knee. At the same time her right hand darted forward, the hilt of the lightsaber shooting towards the Jedi Masters knee hoping to inflict maximum pain.

The little one was determined, she had to give her that. This time, Coryth wasn't pressing the future, wasn't looking actively into. She was too close to Diana for that to be a possibility. Time just didn't exist in this space, and she knew it. Of course, she could try to push her away again but it would just put her back in the same situation.

It was time for something a little unorthodox. A smug look came to her lips, Coryth leaped high in the air, and seemingly split in two. Both Coryth's landing some distance away and behind Diana. Now, if she could read the subtle ripples in the force, the young one could figure out which was real and which was not. Though the difference very subtle. More likely to find out which was real and which was not when she attacked, as the false Coryth would disappear the second it was struck. Both advanced upon the other redhead from two different angles, both left and right. Both looked so real, so genuine. Sweeping her blade low, Coryth aimed to attack the padawan's legs. The doppelganger, seemed to be doing the exact same thing as well.
