Practicality (Open)

Cathbodua looked upon her while she was thinking about it and yes a jedi could do all of those things.. To a point. She wasn't going to promise that all could do that. "Yes it can be done, not all learn the skills. Some choose to do other things or they fail and are sent to the explorers corp." She started walking around and forming a circle around the girl while she looked at the drones and snapped a finger to activate them. "Now there is work, one of the most basic skills a jedi has is their reflexes. If you can learn to control your muscles you can learn better how to bring energy to your body to heal others."

Yura found herself following [member="Cathbodua"] as she walked around her. Hearing her explain how some learn certain skills and others do not made her all the more determined to prove she could. She wanted to be one of the best, and by all in the force she was going to make that possible. A brave face was on hers before she noticed Cath setting up the drones.
She stood, a little nervous, before asking "So....what do I have to do now?"

"Dodge." She held her eyes on her as the whirring of the remotes came for a moment before Cathbodua was moved to the outside of the circle and a shield activated. Her eyes were on her as she motioned and the remotes started firing off shots slowly but it was made to pick up speed in their firing.

The moment she heard it Yura found herself flipping backwards to avoid the first few shots. Her Jedi sense seemed to flare as she landed on her feet and could see all of the drones aiming at her. Some she jumped away from, others only needing to duck. There was a point where she ran as they volleyed all over the place, finding herself moving a little faster than usual. She didn't fully realize until she wound up on the other side of the room. Not that she had time to actually think it through before more shots were fired.

She was watching it, the interest in the padawan more as she walked around the shielded circle. Large enough to run but she had been working at it. Her circle was the inner one that only provided maybe eight feet across but she gave the padawan the easier one. Twenty feet from side to side in the room while she was going around it. She had scars from the more intense training courses she worked, even more stories of her masters more dangerous and even cruel training. "Keep going."

Yura continued to duck, dodge and run until finally finding herself surrounded by the drones. She panicked as she looked around seeing all of the aiming their weapons towards her. With nothing else in her mind she only huddled up, focusing her force powers. And then she spread her arms out and unleashed a wave that she hoped would send them flying back or knocking them into each other. Either way after the push she gave an exhausted "whew..."

The healer crossed her arms and looked at the drones with almost a smile... if it could be called that. The fact she didn't actually smile often or at all well brought the small one sided muscle twitch into more. She moved as the shield came down with a motion of her hand. "Adequate enough." She motioned for the drones to stop while walking to see. "Perhaps next time they'll not be set for an initiate. Now what did you learn?"

When everything stopped Yura gave a more relived sigh. She bent down, hold her hands on her knees as she caught her breath. As she did she could hear [member="Cathbodua"] speaking to her and her shadow looming over her as she asked what she'd learned.
"Uh....always relay on the force to help you in a bad situation?" she guessed, looking up to her ow.

She looked at her and raised an eyebrow while standing now in front of the girl and crossing her arms. She might be skinny but six feet could still be imposing as she spoke. "And when you can't use the force? Then what are you going to do?" Now her eyes narrowed on the girl looking for a good answer before she continued. "One cannot rely on the force solely you will fail, you will stumble and when you're tired like this right now. Even a dolt could kill or harm you." Now she turned on her heel and spoke while walking. "A skilled jedi knows when to use and rely on the force but not to the detriment of their skills."

And just when she thought she was getting a handle on it. Yura sighed and lowered her head as she heard [member="Cathbodua"] give a less than pleased tone from her answer. She just stood there and took it, not saying anything but realizing if she was so wrong then she'd have to think of a better answer next time. Or at least figure out what answer she was looking for.

Vathbodua looked at her and remained there looking. "You are not my padawan, you are a student so not knowing certain things is to be expected. I am almost certain other masters have you picking flowers or only practicing with the force. I am not like that, I will not tell you everything you do is good or fantastic. I expect you to fail, I expect you to fall and stumble because any jedi padawan can be praised. The real test is seeing how they recover from failure."

Hearing that Yura realized what sort of testing [member="Cathbodua"] was putting her through. Negative reinforcement of sorts. Clever. It made sense too. A need to push a student beyond their limits but needing to make sure they didn't falter or get ahead of themselves just because they had a good praise from their teacher. The need to be better than just good. So very understandable. Yura only bowed to Cath as a sign that she understood and respected that choice.

"Good now what skills have you learned to do with a saber?" She almost had a smirk on her face, saber training was the bread and butter of a healer as burns even minor could be a learning experience while she had her lightwhip on an equipment table with more clothing for protection. "A healers best time to practice is when training with a saber, all those mistakes."

When asked Yura answered "Nothing. I've yet to hold one even." She'd seen others within the temple use them in training. And there very first time she'd seen them was when her friend Conner used them before bringing her into the Order. But when [member="Cathbodua"] had asked it made her realize what was likely to come from the next session of training as a healer.

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

She looked at her and removed a coiled whip with another hilt. "Well then it will make things harder but e can find something good in this." She didn't know about fighting now or at the least training with it. The skills one needed from the basics were more important and she had lightwhips. Those were more advanced. "We'll return to that when you have studied with your master, I do not teach with normal weapons. For now we'll just have to see how you do with poisons."

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

Yes looked at her with a blank expression. "Yes a skilled healer knows how to fight poisons in the body, knows how to detoxify them even." She produced a bottle and held it while going back to the circle. "We'll see how well you do." What she didn't say was the poisons were at best going to make her intoxicated. A safer method of practice with whiskey and inebriation.

Yura could see the bottle and felt another gulp in her mouth. She knew she wasn't going to like this, but she came this far and there was no point in going back now. She sighed after taking a deep breath and swallowing any and all fear she had. She took the bottle from [member="Cathbodua"] and gulped it all down. After that she wiped her mouth and waited for the effects to take place, sitting on her knees and waiting to hear any instruction by Cath.

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

Well that was unexpected.... Cath looked at her as she gulped it all down and almost went to smack her. That was an expensive bottle.. for a jedi. It took a lot of saving with stipends to pay for things. They weren't just buying booze for all of them.. water, blue milk sure get those in bulk but booze wasn't required aside from rubbing alcohol for the medical bags. "That was my only bottle." She didn't strike at her just waited for the moment before speaking. "You goal is to focus on the body, to feel for the toxins within you before it takes full effect. Normally this would be measured but you downed some very strong stuff."

Given [member="Cathbodua"] reaction Yura said "Oh...sorry." before handing the bottle back. After that she asked "How effective is.....OOGGHHH!" She clutched her stomach and felt as though her insides were turning into molten fire. She groaned and fell on her back, writing a little. As she rocked back and forth she realized she took too much, but now was the time to try and focus on healing. She found a position and, while trying to fight the pain, began to focus on her insides. She closed her eyes and tried to allow the force to heal her, working from the bottom of the very cells inside of her up to the intestine and the blood and so forth.
