Practicality (Open)

She moved, the dimly lit room under the temple was a great place to practice as the pale hapen stood in the center of the circle. From above her droids were hovering with blasters as they began firing and the ray shield activated to keep her within. Minimal movement around the circle as she dove to the side.

Her teeth were grinding in her mouth while energy jostled around. The force wrapping and penetrating her muscles while she corkscrewed and moved to the side of a blast. The burnt air from it making her nostrils flare before she was pinned between three of them and the shield. Feeling the blast on her back.

The pain was there and the training session ended as she had failed to beat her previous score on dodges but she had managed to get new injuries. It wasn't something she preferred but healing by any other method then with something just seemed wrong while she went to the center of the circle and sat.

The force energies flowing over her body as she felt the wounds at her back. Mixing with the texture of previous wounds and scars from training sessions. The Hapen let her energies penetrate the wound and grasp at the cells soothing the pain while the nerves were calmed. That fiery feeling subsiding.

In its place came a feeling of euphoria as she was slowly repairing her own body and letting the damage show with the others across the pale skin of her body. Tightening her undercloths as the sealed door was still on a timer before she had to return to being somewhat mundane. Her hands going over her shaved head.

Yura had been a curious one. That was what she was doing today. She was curious about every possible place in the temple of the Silver Jedi and wanted to make sure she new every possible place there was. From high above to the lowest areas she wanted to know every in and out about the place. Part of it was for the fun, but a deeper reason, one she'd never truly tell, was to know possible ways of escape if a reason ever came.
As she found herself in the lower sections of the temple she stopped at a large door. She cocked her head at the sight, wondering what it was for, only to then sense someone on the other side. Whoever it was they were strong, possibly a knight. Yet Yura could sense more. Pain. Healing. Euphoria. Odd to sense all of that in one person. She actually went so far as to tap on the door to see if she'd answer, hoping whoever it was was alright.

That was unexpected, Cathbodua's ead turned when she heard the tapping and stopped the healing. Her body rising up in the low light while she closed the distance to the door. Letting the timer tick away visibly until it beeped and opened. The knight looked on speaking and standing in the darker sections. "Yes." She didn't make it a question, not many came to see her and even less really knew what she was like outside of the medical bay.

But that didn't stop the tall Hapen from standing there as she looked at the green hair and raised a delicate eyebrow. Not caring for modesty she let the pale skin with paler scars across her body be exposed to the cooler air of the halls before backing away from the door and going back to the center of the circle. "You are not a padawan I am familiar with." She hadn't seen her before but then she didn't see much with the film developing over her eyes.

"Well are you here for a lesson? Not many come to find me."

When the door finally opened Yura was looking up at the imposing figure. Instead of seeming afraid, however, Yura only kept a pleasant smile and gave a little wave to her. She did note the scars on her pale skin but, again, said nothing. She didn't want to see rude after all. This woman, however, was certainly an interesting one just at the sight of her. The pale skin. The shaved head. The odd yet resounding power within. Yura had a good feeling about her.
She watched her slink back towards the circle before hearing what she said, giving a small "Oh. I....I didn't know I was looking for you. But I am glad I have." She kept a smile on her face as she walked in, her hands folded in front of her, before finally stopping just out of the circle. "I'm Yura." she introduced herself with a bow. "Very nice to meet you, miss...?"

"Cathbodua." She remained there sitting down with her legs crossed and rolled her shoulders as the doors closed. "Not many come down here so you coming to search is interesting. It isn't often I get interesting, usually they send me the problem cases of the order." She remained looked at the girl was but feeling more in the force then with glassy eyes. The membrane slowly growing made it hard to physically see her or others.

"If you are here for lessons on healing and pain management those are always given but do not have illusions. I am not kind and you will not be leaving the lesson the same way you came in. Practical applications of healing are more useful then just talking about it. Same as finding ways to handle large amounts of pain and damage to your body. Not all padawans can handle that or last till the end of the lessons."

Yura still stood and watched, with a slight disgust, at the sight of her glassy eyes welling up. Clealry whatever technique was involved with what she learned, and was willing to teach, was as painful as it sounded and looked. She gulped a little but, at the same time, didn't want to seem cowardly in front of a Jedi knight. Who knew, perhaps things would be better than she realized. But even she was that optimistic.
She gave an awkward laugh before saying "Well, I may not know what I'm in for, but since I'm here I don't think I should say 'no'. And I've dealt with plenty pain in my life, so I think I can try and deal with this too....hopefully."
It was clear she was trying to put on a brave face. She was scared, to be sure, but she was trying to fight through the fear now. If it meant making good impressions and hopefully gaining something then so be it. A little pain might as well be worth the risk.

She didn't move, just sat there motioning with her hands for the girl to find a seat and spoke. "Please remove anything flamable, sharp or react badly to liquids." She said it with a straight face while sitting there and the snap of her fingers as the drones rose from their spot was good enough. She waited x amount of time until the girl was done and ready before continuing while placing hands on her knees.

"The lesson is simple, you heal, the body, the mind, the soul if you want to get sappy. Not by bring told over and over how you are supposed to feel while doing it. By actually doing it, a healer must be able to handle the situation without flinching." She remained sitting there for a moment before holding her hand out as one of the drones fired a shot and struck the topside of her hand. The smell of burnt flesh and scorch marks.

Cath ground her teeth, it might be easy not to yelp or scream but it could still hurt and that pain meant you were alive as she spoke. "Do you know the basics of healing yet?" There was a look on her face of question now while she held her hand out and motioned the girl closer. "Come, there is no better teacher then to actually heal a blaster burn. I could waste ten years telling you how it feels to heal and you'd still never know how to do it."

Okay maybe an exaggeration but she couldn't account for the girls stomach and if she was squeamish or scared. How would be preform in the middle of a firefight, or a natural disaster? There were many questions one could have or factors to how they lived. She would have to get a healer comfortable with handling these instead of their first time in the field flinching because an explosion went off and something bad happened.

When [member="Cathbodua"] gestured Yura nodded a thank you before sitting down just in front of her, though a few feet away. When asked to remove anything of the like Yura didn't really know what she meant, only because she wasn't sure what was or wasn't. With nothing else to go one she simply removed her shoes and put the aside; all she really did was guess they might have been flammable or anything else.
After that she heard the knight out as she explained the basics of healing and how a healer had to have a strong stomach. Yura agreed and knew how it was, but not to as great an extent as Cath had put it. She had to help heal cuts and bruises that her family or the children she grew up with in the orphanage had. Nothing great like battle wounds or the like. She gasped when she'd seen a droid blast at her.
Yura shook her head before saying "I...I never healed before, no." only to realize she was making her go into it so soon.
She hurried over to where her wound was and examined it. Right now it wasn't a matter of trying to please her master but to actually make sure she was alright. She may not have realized this was still all part of the training.

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

She was looking at her now and speaking while holding her hand. there and steady. "Then you will learn the practical way. Healing is not an art as many believe it is a way, a muscle reflex you are able to preform. Now pool the force into your hands, allow it to rest in the palms until you are ready and then push it out onto the wound. Each damaged cell that is on fire and dying. Each exposed nerve you can soothe and calm."

Her eyes watching the girl while she sat there holding her free hand up to show how to do it. "It will not bite you and I know how to repair the damage myself but this will teach you better then anyone can explain." She didn't even muse instead letting it more sink in that the mass of scars and damage was because she preferred her students to learn by experience rather then spend all that time teaching them an idea.

Yura gave a quick, if a little frantic, nod before holding both of her hands up to the scar. A little blood on her palms but she ignored it. She focused, trying to think of whatever might help to heal [member="Cathbodua"] wound. All that came to mind was healing thoughts. The idea of the scar being healed. It not being there anymore. The force acting like a band-aid even. Yura closed her eyes and tried to let it ease in through her, the same way she learned now to handle moving things with the force on her own. Her mind was always clear, in a sense, so hopefully it was working.

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

"No." Her hand came out to try and smack the girls head as she spoke. "Your thoughts are not on simply healing. You need to think deeper. Look deeper, below the surface of the wound. The cells, the tissue, you are working on this. The natural healing of the body infused with your force energies to speed it up." She remained still though keeping her hand steady while the other finally went to be near it.

"Now focus and look deeper, this is never about you or your thoughts. This is about what you can see and what you have in front of you. My hand, my wound. Once you make it about yourself you turn an act of charity into vanity. It is what many of our healers do, it is what many others do." She had seen it in other aspects but explaining her small annoyances would make her sound like an old woman wanting people off her lawn.

Yura gave a little "ow" when she was smacked. She rubbed the back of her head while [member="Cathbodua"] told her what she was supposed to do. She nodded before trying to focus on that. Instead of thinking on the mind she had to focus on the body. She tried again, putting her hand up and starting to focus the force inward. This proved a little harder than she thought. Keeping her eyes closed she pushed herself, reaching out with the force on the cells and tissue as ordered and trying to work through them to make the healing process faster. It was like any little things to focus on that were part of a grader picture. Many dots that would come together into a grand collage. She had to fix each and every one of them so they;d be perfect.

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

"Good now you are understanding." That made it easier and she wouldn't have to smack some sense into her. "As you continue don't get over eager or to confident. It is better to be like this, a pace you can maintain then to give into impatience. Once you think you are done we will move on. Now you may tell me about yourself padawan." She was looking at the girl with raised eyebrows and wanted to push her. "There will be far more distractions in the field, explosions, shots wizzing past your head, screams. You will want to learn how to hear the voices for questions or answers but drown out the distractions."

At least this time [member="Cathbodua"] was giving her a little praise. For Yura a little praise went a long way as she kept that perky smile on her face before thanking her. When talk of trying not to be distracted in the field Yura responded "Oh. I know what that can be like. It's okay though. I have a way. I always think of a song and I concentrate on that, then when I'm trying to do something that's all I'll hear." Her response was almost vapid, yet she seemed so serious about it. Truly a conundrum. After that, when Cath asked about her, she perked and said "Well I came from Alderann. I was an orphan for a while before the Fontaines took me in. They were like my real family, even giving me a job as their maid." She indicated her dress to exposit this more. "Aside from that...well...not sure what else to say."

[member="Yura Fontaine"]

Her hand moved again to try and smack her head. "You don't need a song in your head, you are a jedi not some simple child. Your focus should be on what you are doing, music is a distraction you do not need and will deter from your goal." She moved her hand back and was looking at the wound before pulling some water over to clean it and wipe away the black scorched parts. Leaving a nasty sight but there was redness instead of black.

"Your healing is on par with an initiate and as good as it will get I suppose." She left it flat with no tone to indicate if she was impressed or disappointed. The healer was more clinical and practical then others she had met without wearing all emotions on her sleeve to be a distraction. "You will have to practice more and that is what these rooms are for. No one can hear the screams." She said it and waited a moment. "That was a joke"

Given how the healer taught she left it open whether she meant harm to herself or to other students. It was unknown how or whom had been down there. "You will need to stay fed and hydrated. Healing can take more out of people then they let on. There are some crackers and bottles of water outside the circle if you need it but do not take to long." She moved her wounded hand to her other and let the energies pulse into it as some of the dead skin fell away.

Another smack and an "ow" to follow. Apparently it wasn't good enough. Yura was starting to see why Jedi would need to be strong all the time. If they had to endure training like this they were obviously going to be a little on the sallow side. She rubbed her head again while only nodding as [member="Cathbodua"] told her about not being distracted.
After that she took her words on being as good as an initiate as a praise enough. She smiled at this, despite being smacked again earlier, and thanked her. Then came the joke about the screaming which, at first, Yura gave a gulp of fear. When Cath revealed it as such she sighed and giggled at how silly she felt for falling for it.
When when offered water and crackers Yura thanked her again before standing and walking over. Her bare sock covered feet smacked against the floor as she walked over and ate a handful before washing it down with water. She noted how delicious it was before wiping her mouth and then returning to the circle.

She looked at the girl and continued to sit there with her legs crossed for now. The rest of the room quiet as the jedi healer was focusing her energy and pushing it outwards towards the edges while she breathed a sigh of relief and rolled her shoulders. Working on healing her hand before she stood up running a hand along her short hair and feeling the texture against the healing wound. "Now what other skills do you have?"

It took Yura a moment to answer before saying "Well I'm very tidy around the house. I can sing. I can dance. I can hold my breath for... Oh! You meant with the Force, didn't you?" She gave an awkward laugh before saying "Well the most I know now is just managing to make things float, reading people's feelings, and sometimes I can just tell when something is about to happen. Like a second sense or something."

She was looking at the girl and motioned for her to sit down while she cringed trying to not reach out and smack her head again. She didn't need everything all she needed to know was what she knew how to do while she stood up and motioned her to get into the center of the circle. "In the center." She clasped her hands behind her back and was looking upon her while the scars on her feet were cool with the floor. "Do you want to keep developing these skills or do you want to learn other skills within the force?"

Yura nodded before making her way into the circle near where [member="Cathbodua"] stood. From where she sat the woman looked ore imposing than before, but that didn't stop Yura from paying attention to her. When asked Yura thought for a moment before answering "Well...I was hopping to learn anything really. I've been told Jedi can fool people with a mind trick? Or can fight with special weapons? Oh, is it true you can jump really high?" Her question were more like childish inquiry.
