STRENGTHS
  • Explosive: Each shot from this particle weapon has an explosive finish.

  • Charged Shot: The trigger can be held over the course of 2.5 seconds, expending 5 rounds of normal ammunition to fire a charged shot capable of burning holes through armored vehicles.

  • Ultra Reliable: They can be submerged, kicked, driven over, snapped, bent - you name it. Even when they look broken, even when they shouldn’t work, they still work.
WEAKNESSES
  • Bruising Recoil: The sheer power of every unstable shot causes the rifle to slam back even in seasoned hands. It is easy to hurt yourself and even easier to miss if you aren’t careful.

  • Low Capacity: A standard infantry blaster can often have up to a hundred rounds per magazine. Even for a rifle of its class, the PR-S3g sits near the bottom of the ammo capacity charts.

  • Hazardous: It’s possible for debris or poor decision-making to result in the bolt detonating earlier than the shooter intended. This could lead to unintended self-harm or a high incidence of friendly fire.
DESCRIPTION

The Particle Rifle; Standard, third-generation (PR-S3g) or ‘Sith Infantry Rifle’ may look archaic… But that’s because it is. Nearly five millennia ago, around the time of the Krath Wars, particle rifles of this variety were used to settle disputes across more than seventy systems throughout the Outer Rim; usually between pirates and frontiersmen. Their simple design, lethal firepower, and trademark reliability kept them in style for long after, even while militaries and Core World law groups enjoyed their high-tech toys.

Naturally, they were the perfect baseline for an updated design. Contracting Balmorran Arms - an otherwise droid manufacturer - the Sith Covenant had a simple mandate: produce a weapon that can be flooded into the waiting hands of undertrained infantry, without bottlenecks or delays.

Balmorran Arms delivered.

The PR-S3g is an ultra-reliable weapon with exciting lethality and such simplicity that it doesn’t take more than a few days to train a militia how to fire or maintain their new deathbringers. While each shot gobbles up energy from the weapon’s large power cells, that low capacity is offset by explosive firepower and the ability to charge shots for exponential delivery. Better yet, the infantry rifle can withstand the stresses of virtually any battlefield condition, meaning the Sith Covenant can spend less time replenishing weapon stocks, and more time devoting supply chain resources to packing armies with power cells and other gear.

Some experts fear that the PR-S3g may eventually become so ubiquitous and accessible that caches of these weapons will find their way back out into the Rim again, kickstarting a new era of lethal conflicts in the lawless regions of space.
