OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Hylotl
  • Classification: Star Port City
  • Location: Hoylin
  • Affiliation: Confederacy
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: Comprising mostly the humans who survived the Nothing, the population is jittery, pale, sickly almost. The people are by no means universally so, as some Northern members of various races moved to assist in rehabilitation, but the majority is the recovering former inhabitants.
  • Wealth: Low - Due to the large, ruined sections of the city still yet to be cleared and restored, very few people visit Hylotl, resulting in drastically low income. Most of this income is spent on reconstruction and rehabilitation, as these are the primary concerns.
  • Stability: Medium - Scars of the Nothing run deep, resulting in the people being mistrustful of themselves and other survivors. While by no means crime ridden, the independent nature of the people combined with this mutual self mistrust leads to dangers rising up in the somewhat ruined city.
  • Freedom & Oppression: There are extra rules in place, including curfews and off-limit zones of the city, to help protect the people who returned to restore the city. Half meant with all good heart, and half with fear of the corruption the Nothing had returning unannounced.
  • Description: The city is mostly ruins, with small sections torn down and rebuilt to resemble more villages within the former urban city. As Hylotl was one of the closest on the planet to a metropolis, there are more large buildings and roadways than most on the planet.
POINTS OF INTEREST

Ruins of Hylotl Main Starport:

The ruins of the Starport that made Hylotl what it once was. They are by no means unusable, in fact several portions have been cleared for use to try and keep an income for reconstruction purposes.

Ruins of Hylotl Central Hospital:

The very epicenter of the Nothing, where the Order of the Sacred Lotus managed to at last purify the dark corruption. No one has done anything to the building, uncertain what if anything should be done with the former site of healing. Upon approach, there is a noticeable feeling of hope, of companionship, and of love.

SECURITY

  • Cameras

Bordering Restricted Zones: High

  • Temporary stun anti-personnel emplacements

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Hylotl was one of, if not the, most metropolis or urban center on the entirety of Hoylin, housing the largest starport on the planet. Though many others existed, of course, Hylotl was the modern pride of the planet, and a commercial center renowned as one of the marvels of the planet, bordering the line of metropolis and clean and simple like many of the villages. How this was managed isn't quite remembered, beyond a few well known legal decisions, as most legal documentation was destroyed in recent history. This would be due to the Nothing.

The Nothing was a powerful darkside pathogen or curse, infecting all that lived with an intense desire to kill and consume everything. Human flesh in particular. The Order of the Sacred Lotus originally came to contain and cure the strange illness that had struck, but failed to do more than contain the pathogen for a time to Hylotl. This curse spread, causing the people to turn on one another, crumbling the city of Hylotl as society collapsed in on itself.

Ironically, it would be another Jedi, another member of that same Order, who would correct the grievous mistake, with the help of the Confederacy. When the people who could be saved came to their senses, a large number chose to do their best to turn Hylotl into the prideful city it once was. Progress has been, slow, as everyone who came were poor, jittery, scared. The ruins slowly have been cleared, fixed, whatever need be done to slowly convert the ruined and broken city, though what they had accomplished save a few docking bays for what trade they could manage, only a few village like sections have been at all restored. Where once there was death, fear, and decay, there was now life, hope, love.
