Political Convention

[member="Severus Gold"]

Weapon confiscation is, no doubt, going to happen. Force bracelets, as a show of good faith, I'll abstain from enforcing and leave it on an individual to individual basis. And I did not plan on restricting representatives from the major factions. It falls on their leaders to send whoever they consider most capable and instruct them not to make a mess.

On that note, [member="Valiens Nantaris"] my apologize for the earlier "Guns pointed" comment. I got caught in the heat of the moment a bit and the message I wanted to get across got fucked up. Security personnel will be on the area, for obvious reasons, but I have no plans of actually keeping everybody under the barrel of a gun at all times, nor use them as a show of force. I neither got the power nor the resources to do that and survive the following hours. But if a fight breaks out, they will be there to enforce order, as best as a few people with blasters are capable of.

[member="Alice Red"] If you haven't considered this option - I'll throw it out. With how volatile this particular convention might appear to be, and the extreme measures you might have to take in order to include peace...why not have a holographic meeting? Just transmit the secure signal and have a holo-meeting that uses some advanced tech that can project the holograms a bit more realistically. No physical violence would ensue, and people can still 'mingle'.

[member="Alice Red"] I think [member="Evad"] has good idea, as if you wanted me to remove my own protection. Some mon calamari, who not [member="Darth Veles"] would be shouting my ear it`s a trap

Though I would be happy to attend with other dignitaries, if we put some one forward. Yes I can be trusted not to start fight, end it how ever I may.
There will pretty much only be one person from the One Sith at this - it's going to be a character of mine. It doesn't make sense for the One Sith to send swarms of people to this.

No worries, it`s all yours

Regretfully, if the One Sith are being invited and we are expected to acknowledge them as a rightful, sovereign power then the Protectorate will -not- be in attendance. We do not recognize the One Sith control of former Republic worlds. Until such a time as Coruscant is returned to the Republic, the Protectorate will not attend any meeting in which the One Sith are invited.

This is quite responsible and understandable, but have you thought of it like this? If you aren't present to deliver your own terms how can we satisfy both sides? I hate conquest and war just as much as the next, but it does happen and we must be civil even when uncivil things are happening. According to our records, this event seems a lot like the old republic era and a peace treaty, as i
Unstable as it was, was indeed met.

Now if you are set to stand on those words then by all means, but maybe reconsider or even talk to a politician to represent your values.

Why are we referring to this conference as a Sith witch hunt? The Sith are bad, or if we do want to put labels on groups they are the opposition, so what expectation do you have other then getting people together for motivation to shoot them in da face?

Or perhaps what you really try to get is something deeper. Like the complete lack of intrigue that goes on long with the greater mechanics of running galactic spanning governments.

I considered a pure holographic meeting, but I put it on the reserve plan due to fears of how easy it would be to mess around with the transmissions. Say you got the Sith, Pubs, and another major faction in a heated discussion. The Sith could, theoretically, attempt to jam some of the Republic frequencies, and strongarm the the third faction into taking their side on an issue or being more lenient towards them. Granted, the chances of this are somewhat slim I imagine, but it's always something to keep in mind. If needed, I am not opposed to the idea.

Understandable. While I'm disappointed in hearing the news, nevertheless, I respect your decision. Ain't gonna force you or your faction against your wills.

I'll admit, OOC, I have my own personal interest in seeing things such as this prop up more often. I was never much of a fan of the force users or the fleeting aspect of the star wars universe. The small unit engagements with the clone troopers, especially in Gennedy's take on the universe, always impressed and interested me. Coupled with a great universe that is rife with political games and intrigue, I find it a damn shame the later is seen so rarely. I'd like to see more threads dealing with the average day to day life of the citizens of a planet, how a faction goes around subduing or wooing them, more political backstabbing and gambles to power in the Galactic Senate or other areas, more planetary administrators getting to big for their breeches and sending an entire system into chaos trying to gain control of the place. That kind of stuff. I believe that, if enough interest is given to this areas of storytelling, it will pick up with time and become more regular.

As for why I refer to it as a witch hunt, it's because it is one. Don't get me wrong, I understand why it is one, I'd just like to see a bit more finesse and afterthought.

Since you're hosting the meeting, you can simply negate all that by stating a secure transmission that you are controlling. I mean, this is a meeting to talk with the various faction heads. If people don't want other people in the conversation, then they can simply leave the holo conference themselves, because it's a public forum that you're regulating as fair. If you need help in tech-speak to make it clear that it can't be micromanaged like that, I could certainly help out. Might even hire my slicer to do that for you. :) He's factionless and likes money.
