“An attaché?” Kel asked quizzically.

“Yes sir,” the voice on the comlink replied.

The Bothan looked over the dossier that came across his holopad, skimming over the young woman’s qualifications and history with shrewd, feline eyes.

“And a Sal-Soren, no less…”

Kel wasn’t a senator that was known for taking protégés; The first and last diplomatic aide he was afforded came in the form of a particularly sharp Jedi Padawan, Anneliese Anneliese . She lent him her sword and her wits after a terror attack on the Senate nearly claimed his life, and later again when Kel traveled to Naboo during the Battle of Tython.

Since those days, the Man of the People had been primarily focused on aiding the Jedi in whatever way he could following the Empire’s ambush on Ilum. The last few months have seen a drastic increase in subterfuge and turncoating, blights that Kel worked diligently to rout out via his connections to the notorious Bothan spynet.

The Senator rubbed his chin, his intrigue rising the more he contemplated the potential assignment. She seemed to be a capable, quick-witted woman. Sharp, like the edge of a razor.

Perhaps this new partnership would be good for the both of them. It had been far too long since Kel rode on the heels of hell, turning the Senate upside down with his unpopular policies of honesty and fairness.

“Send her my regards, please,” Kel finally said, breaking the silence.

“And set us a meeting. I’d like to speak with Miss Sal-Soren in person.”

Breha walked along the corridors of the Senate Offices, eyes gazing about the various portraits, murals and holo-busts. She had received word from the Office of Senator Se'Taav, representing Abregado-Rae - a meeting was requested, and Breha agreed to attend. Why wouldn't she? Not only was the system of Abregado-Rae important to the welfare of the Alliance, it also held a great historical presence in the Galactic lore. She knew that this wasn't going to be an ordinary meeting.

"Potentially, an interview?" She avoided a collision with a chattering Rodian while in the depths of her thoughts.

"Perhaps." She mused to herself as she approached the door to the esteemed Senator's office.

Breha's valued integrity and truth, she acted on facts and with compassion, though a sudden interest in Anti-Force User sentiment had caught her interest as of late. Breha had endured alot of trauma, especially during the desecration of her home on Naboo. Her face would twitch ever so slightly as she'd flashback briefly, causing her to shake her head subtly and dismiss it. She adjusted herself and moved through the sliding doors, approaching the reception desk.

"How can I be of service today?" The droid said bluntly.

She spoke with confidence and poise.

"Junior Senator Breha Sal-Soren for Senator Se'Taav, he is expecting me."

“Send her in!” the Senator called from his office. As much as he appreciated ED-44, she had the tendency to get overly excited by bureaucracy.

Kel simply wanted to chat with Representative Sal-Soren. Perhaps plant a seed, foster a partnership that would follow him out of this Stars-forsaken Alliance.

When she entered his chambers, he stood and circled around the desk to greet her with a bow of the head and a kind handshake.

“Miss Sal-Soren,” the Bothan said, his voice like aged whiskey.

“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

In truth, her reputation as a Sal-Soren preceded her, as it did with the rest of the family. But Kel was always careful to avoid preconceived notions color his disposition. Not every chocolate in the box was made of the same stuff, he felt.

“A drink?” the Bothan asked, gesturing to a modest collection of fine liquors and colored beverages. Most were particularly strong Bothan vintages from his homeworld, but several were rather tame.
