Question Playby's

Sounds silly because ive been here for a while, but any help i could get i'd greatly appreciate... There are no Playby's that are off limits correct? ... And do alternate timelines exist or can they be created? non-canon scenarios in the SW universe? thx! : D

Depends on what you mean.

Obviously, playbys that are against site rules are off limits. We don't want people using actual IRL awful people as playbys.

But other than that?

Go nuts. I've used Power Rangers actors, comic characters, anime characters, cosplays.

As for AU stuff, that's entirely up to who's willing to write with you. Everyone has a different tolerance for that sort of thing, but it's technically not against any rules.

The rules on Avatars are as follows:

YOUR AVATAR

  • You must choose an avatar for your character before beginning to role-play.
  • You must have an avatar for each character you create at SWRP: Chaos, and it must represent your character.
  • Avatars must adhere to SWRP: General Rules.
As far as roleplay, our timeline and roleplay rules and here, but as stated previously, AU or a different timeline rp is dependent on what other writers would be happy to rp with you. I suggest a looking for group.

thx guys! I wanted to simply use Keanu reeves as an upcoming character and i believe he was used already by an admin LMAO.. Just double checking hahah

Subjective takes like this is what leads to issues later on. The opinion on who is an awful person IRL or not cannot be quantified by rules, and leaving it to the discretion of people (who are in a position to do so) to decide whether or not someone is allowed to be essentially the pfp of someone else's sub-account is borderline power abuse.

Examples that come off my head include a character, who at one time was Chancellor for the Galactic Republic and Galactic Alliance (predominantly #1 major factions at their time), and whose profile picture was of Captain Jack Sparrow-- a character from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series played by Johnny Depp who some still believe to have been a domestic abuser despite being cleared of such allegations in court.

Another was someone who made a character with a profile picture of Donald Trump (after he had won the 2016 General Election) and went onto to write a politician in one of the aforementioned factions. Trump being a controversial person IRL who has both supporters or detractors as President of the USA.

There are obvious examples of people who shouldn't be allowed. Famous serial killers, fascists, communists, criminals etc. come to mind. Conversely there are people on this website who would place my aforementioned examples into these categories and arguments for why they shouldn't be allowed.

Just let people pick what they want, report what is clearly obviously not allowed, and if you don't like their choice (because of political opinions etc.) then don't interact with them.
