Beltor "Bell" Cyrus
The Good Doctor.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Upon the adding of the Mk. 1 Mod. 0 Cartridge to V.Z.A.B catalog, Dr. Cyrus chose to task the V.Z.A.B design team (In fact just him self) with building a weapon from the ground up to fit, chamber, and fire the round with out having to tear down extant stocks of the ever rarer and rarer .48 Enforcer pistol for it. The result of this endeavor was the Model 7, named so as it was the 7th prototype model and first to not detonate violently under the chamber pressures involved.
Using a gas operate, rotating bolt locking lug system derived from an older slug thrower rifle, it allows the weapon to achieve reliable semi-automatic fire. It even features barrel porting and a magazine hold open upon the last round being expended.
Upon finalizing the design, he machined a small stock of initial production models for sale on the open market. Initial from-the-factory options include a 4.5 inch "Compact" barrel, a 6 inch "Standard" and a 8.5 inch "Dragoon" models. It also includes the swath of non powered iron sights options, from open rear v notch and barleycorn front blade, to closed peep sights, to even an adjustable real sight reminiscent of larger slug thrower rifles. Magazine capacity comes as standard 8 rounds, from either new production models or older extant magazines for the .48 enforcer. Large 9, 10, and 11 round extended magazine options are also reliable and available.
- Due to the lack of available suitable stocks of the venerable .48 Enforcer pistol in current galactic circulation, the development team at V.Z.A.B (In reality just Dr. Cyrus, it's a one man operation) set forth to design a hand gun from the ground up to support the Mk. 1 Mod. 0 special cartridge while sticking close to the original form factor and even external look of the same pistol in a design optimized for the heavy caliber anti-material round it's chambered in.
- That's Not a gun, Vincent, that's a bloody Anti-aircraft cannon! - The Model 7 is not a small piece, weighing at a hefty 4 pounds standard and being comprised of heavy alloys and machined durasteel and being well past the form and size of a typically issued slugthrower. This weight and heft actually comes in handy, as the mass eats up a considerable portion of the initial recoil impulse, cutting down on the felt recoil and making shooting the Model 7 only moderately unpleasant.
- Ring Heaven's Door bell - The gun, when firing it's native cartridge, has a tremendous report, muzzle flash, and a non insignificant amount of muzzle kick that will quickly establish it as the loudest thing in the room, and likely the most lethal unless some one has invented the concealed carry E-web blaster.
- Anti-material, well he's made of material - Given the high velocity, heavy mass depleted baradium slug, the hand gun is readably able to hole most forms of personal protection, with a notable exception of mando iron, and even heavily damage light armor and soft skinned vehicles.
- If it ain't broke... - While native magazines do come with the weapon, it can readably and reliably feed from the standard 8 round .48 magazines with no adjustment to the hand gun it self.
- Big surprises come in equally big packages - The weapon is not, in any way, easily concealable or inconspicuous. This is a big flashy weapon and the user would do best embracing it rather then hide it.
- Specialist's Specialist - This is ultimately a niche handgun for niche purposes. It is not a covert weapon, nor weapon easily done away with.
- Slug throwers, a simple weapon for simpler times - Being a projectile fire arm, and one that relies on combustion actuated mechanics, there are inherent limitations with its use compared to blaster, namely the inability to be used under water or in high gravity zones that a blaster bolt would otherwise unaffected by. There is also the fact that it feeds from rather small magazines and can not, like many slug throwers, be readably suppressed for covert actions.
- Do not disassemble in field - The Model 7 is not meant to be field customizable. While barrel length and iron sight options do exist, being a 4.5 inch "Compact", a 6 inch "standard" and a 8.5 inch "Dragoon", and standard open irons, closed peep sights and a more adjustable windage sights respectively, the modifications require factory tools and factory conditions, precluding any sense of modularity.
