OOC: Enter as a Merc on board already if going merc route. All welcome.

Jada leaned back from the controls, lighting up a deathstick. She was on her ship the Quantum runner. Current company included a slew of mercenaries, about six or so of them. She hadn't had much time to figure them all out, nor did she really care at this point. She was on the hunt.

For Pirates.....

Once they had dropped out of hyperspace, she had let loose a cry baby decoy module. The small grey cylinder floated through space, as so much space trash, but it had a secret. On scanners the decoy mod was blasting SOS signals in several dialects, to include hutt and rodian. The thing also faked a nice damaged drive plume, casting ion radiation everywhere. For all intents and purposes it was ghost ship, wounded, and calling for anyone.

Accompanying her ploy was fake manifest, leaked purposely by her employer. Apparently getting your cargo raided was bad for business. So she had taken the job to raid a piarate craft and attempt to bring them in. With engines switched off she waited, taking a long puff. The glowing red cherry lit the small cabin just such that she could see the outline of the mercs armor and face bones. The only sound was the faint whine or air scrubbers removing co2 and toxins.

"Well gents, traps set. Let's see who shows up."

She stubbed the smoke and thumbed down the drive, leaving base life support only.

"Powering down. Fingers crossed."

With a flash of light, the ANS Fortitude exited hyperspace...into empty space. "I want full scans! We must find the source of this SOS signal," Captain Kailani Fostu ordered. He gazed at the tactical map intensely, as if he could pick out the damaged ship on the holo.

"We have ion radiation a few dozen klicks out. Looks like a damaged drive," the sensors officer said.

"Interesting. Helm, move in. I want full combat readiness, and tractor beams powered up. We will reel in the disabled ship, help whoever is trapped in there, and study it to see what weapons were used against it."

The bridge crew acknowledged his orders, and the star defender began to move.
