DESCRIPTION
The Piranha-class Light Turbolaser is a state of the art light capital weapon design brought to you by the engineering team at Mon Calamari Shipyards. Utilizing advanced materials and age-old standardized energy weapon components the Engineers at MCS have developed a revolutionary Heavy Point Defense Weapon. By studying, testing, and reverse engineering old light turbolaser technology Mon Calamari Shipyards have developed a short-ranged, rapid-fire, light turbolaser cannon to be utilized as close-range support anti-capital and long-range anti-sub capital weapon. Mounted on a fast-tracking stabilized mount the gunner can traverse the weapon through its full range of movement rapidly enabling it to track smaller fast-moving vessels such as fighters, bombers, and assault boats.

The Piranha-class Light Turbolaser can operate in a variety of fire rate settings. The weapon system has dedicated Power Capacitors which can charge for one heavy bolt equal to a standard light turbolaser cannon. Then it can be switched to its rapid-fire setting which utilizes the same capacitors to draw energy continually for a less powerful bolt at a higher rate of fire. This process draws far more power than the standard light turbolaser thus requiring it to take up more space for power regulation and gas delivery systems.
