Description: The first ship of the line for the Syndicate, the Phoenix class destroyer optimizes defense and utility over sheer firepower. The addition of ion-cannons and additional assault craft help increase the ship's flexibility along with the addition of long range, high-gain, LADAR and Gravometric sensors that appear as long vanes emerging from the surfaces of the ship in addition to the Phoenix's FTL communications. This comes at a cost however of reduced internal space, limiting the ship's consumables and cargo space as much of the interior is limited by the Dual reactors running from the ventral engines, down the center-line of the ship and down the spars to the rear engines. The two hangers are housed under each 'wing' and open out to either side of the ship and split the destroyer's compliment of small-craft between them.

While not as heavily armed as some of its brethren ships in other navies, special attention was giving to the placement of weapons batteries to ensure that the maximum number of guns could be brought to bear, even if attacked from the rear as the Nimix often tries to do. However, with all four of it's assault launchers facing forward and the ship's broad-head shape, attacking from the front isn't likely to end well. The classic traditional star destroyer outline was used to assist with weapon placement, ensuring strong broadsides along with frontal fire though a wise commander would still seek an alternative advantage when engaging an enemy ship of the line one to one.
