SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

  • Stealth. The Phantom provides very effective full spectrum stealth for a quite reasonable period of time. It is invisible to the naked eye, and even when deactivated it is hard to see in low light or when standing still.
  • Baffling. The Phantom contains both technology and Force artefacts which help hide it from Force users and mechanical sensors. The Taozin skin nodule blurs and clouds Force Senses, making the wearer more difficult to detect with the Force. The wearer can easily slip past all but the best of both especially if they are not alerted or looking for them. The myriad systems make the wearer practically invisible to sensors and cameras.
  • Reflection. Certain weapon types can be more easily deflected. This includes elemental, ion, blaster/plasma and especially primitive weapons. The suit and especially the flex plates are all good at resisting these attacks.
  • Suit incorporates a concealed holographic disguise matrix. This device is able to alter the user's appearance and voice.
Weaknesses:

  • Detection. Moving whilst the suit is active creates a blur which is visible to the observant. Of course, other means of detection might be available such as animals smelling, gravity or weight detection and physical impediments. These will be less effectively countered by the suit.
  • Focus. Focused or especially powerful sensors or Force users may be able to overcome the countermeasures and detect the wearer.
  • Fragile. Other weapon types such as lightsabres or kinetic weapons have far fewer defences in the suit. They will either piece or cut the suit and its plates open with direct hits or damage it with glancing blows. The suit sacrifices heavy plating for light weight and stealth, meaning it is not good at tanking or absorbing heavy blows. This is not the suit to march toward shooters firing anti-armour slug rounds, or have close contact with a war hammer with.
  • Double-blind. The no-show's ability to interfere with scanners and sensors works both ways. This forces the user to utilise passive sensors and visual inspection if the device is activated.
  • Flawed mimicry. The aforementioned holographic disguise matrix has limitations that can result in the user being unmasked. The charade cannot stand up to physical inspection or certain high end military grade scans. Moreover, a holodisruptor can interfere with it. Finally, it is one thing to disguise oneself as someone else, and other one to possess the knowledge to imitiate their mannerisms. The device does not provide any of that.
DESCRIPTION

Phantom stealth suit was designed to provide Firemane operatives with a versatile, stealth suit. In the past, Firemane generally had to resort to utilising suits designed by other companies. Ergo, the Phantom has been created to fill a niche, though it is only available in very limited numbers. Purity, an upcoming researcher from Dahomey, was responsible for designing it. The suit was first tested by Karrigan'Xalda, a Xioquo operative. After familiarising herself with the suit's systems, she field tested it by infiltrating a Firemane max-security facility. Despite several hazards, she was able to complete her misison by stealing a data disk and escape after the alarm was raised.

The basis of the suit is a Thinsuit. Its exterior is lined in Shadowsilk in order to absorb light and sound. Thus it is very good at blending into the environment, even if the personal cloaking device is not active. Moreover, the suit incorporates a No-Show. This is worn on the wrist. Upon activation, the wearer and the suit cannot be detected by sensors and scanners. However, this works both ways, as the device is double-blind. In other words, the No-Show also meddles with communications and sensors worn by the wearer. Thus they will have to rely on passive sensors, hand signals and so on with others while the item is active. In addition, it features Taozin skin nodules to negate Force-based detection.

A portable personal cloaking device makes the wearer all but invisible. Its range is such that it also covers the ultraviolet spectrum. However, a clumsy operative can give themselves away. Like with any cloaking device, the cloak is imperfect, as it leaves an oscillation effect. It is easiest to maintain the effect while moving slowly and carefully. A skilled user can maintain the effect while running, but it is obviously more difficult.

Protection is provided by flex armour plating. It is fitted to the suit. It provides protection against a variety of attacks, specifically ion, elemental, blasters/plasma and primitive weapons. The wearer is also protected from radiation and environmental hazards. However, the wearer sacrifices heavy plating for light weight and stealthiness, making it less effective at absorbing heavy impacts. In short, this is a poor suit for direct confrontations with large numbers of enemies.

As a result, kinetic impacts such as those generated by heavy slug rounds, blunt force trauma and the like are a danger, as they can pulp the body inside the suit. These attacks may not penetrate per se, but the suit offers little to dissipate the impact. Moreover, the suit is weak against lightsabres. The mask provides protection against chemicals and vacuum. It comes equipped with a myriad visual systems. The Phantom is light and offers the wearer a lot of flexibility and range of motion.

To support the wearer, the Phantom is equipped with manifold gadgets, including a full slicing kit. These items, as with any wrist and forearm attachments the wearer might desire, can be swapped out and replaced as needed. The same applies to the jetpack. A holographic disguise matrix allows the wearer to alter their appearance and voice. However, this charade cannot stand up to physical inspection and a holodisruptor can interfere with it. Moreover, it is one thing to disguise oneself as someone else, and other one to possess the knowledge to imitiate their mannerisms. The device does not provide any of that.
