SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Translation talisman function
  • Enhanced durability
STRENGTHS
  • Petrichor is a high-powered version of a traditional Sith translation talisman. When reading various ancient Sith dialects, the wearer can understand them even if they do not know the language. In simplest terms, this traditional functionality would be comparable to watching a foreign-language holodrama with subtitles.
  • Over and above the traditional functionality, the language instils itself in the wearer permanently. This would be comparable to watching a foreign-language holodrama with subtitles, and then being able to speak/read/write the language within the scope of the holodrama's content. As a result, Petrichor is far better at supporting long-term learning than a standard translation talisman.
  • The ring, as with most high-grade works of alchemy, is extremely durable. It can withstand lightsaber strikes, for example.
WEAKNESSES
  • The owner must be wearing the ring to enjoy the effects.
  • The ring does not function when affected by ysalamiri, nearby void stone, etc.
  • Reading ancient Sith dialects with Petrichor's aid is draining. If attacked while reading, for example, the owner would likely need to flee, not stand and fight.
DESCRIPTION
Petrichor is an alchemised-steel ring that takes the stylized form of a woman opening her own chest, with a carved lignan crystal as her heart. Ashin Varanin, an experienced metals alchemist, cast the ring circa 865 ABY, some time after Spencer Varanin Spencer Varanin 's rescue from the Netherworld. After a long career and several re-embodiments, Ashin began experiencing some degree of memory loss. The ring was an experiment in retaining her linguistic and archival knowledge.
