With an acknowledging hum, Ara turned and left the kitchen for his room. Once there, however, the Zabrak couldn't help but linger at his armour. After all of her studies, Mandalorians became as much of a curiosity to her as the Imperials. Both demanded respect after everything they accomplished and the things they survived through.

Granted, as a Jedi it was her duty to prevent stuff like that. She could only hope that she would never have to face either. Criminals could still be reasoned with or subdued without bloodshed. Natural warriors, born and bred for combat, could not.

Perhaps she was just overthinking things. Kayl wasn't a genocidal maniac... mostly. While his actions spoke differently, she could see and feel that he was a good man.

Giving his helmet a light tap, Ara turned and rummaged around in search of a towel and something to wear before she jumped through the shower. After a few minutes, the Zabrak emerged wearing a simple pair of shorts and her tank top as she dried her hair out. "Um... kinda embarrassing... but I sort of put a hole through the corner of your towel, the thing hooked onto a horn." She apologized with a laugh as she returned... except her voice sounded a lot more synthesized as she looked around the kitchen through the T-visor of his helmet.

"Also I'm starting to think I should've stayed on Hefi, this thing's awesome." She snickered as she took it off and set it down on the counter. As she stood next to him, she took a whiff of the delicious meal and let out a hum. "You gotta send me the recipe, this looks amazing." She quipped as she stepped away towards her spot against the counter. While she tried to cover it up a little, the scar along her thigh and stomach were rather clear to see.

"By the way... you mentioned something about a mothership a second ago. I thought y'all live on Kestri?" She asked him with a curious frown.

A few moments after she left the kitchen with an acknowledging hum and went into his room, The Misfit went about preparing the table in the kitchen; he emerged from a room he used as a storage room, adjacent to the Kitchen, carrying a foldable and a pair of foldable chairs with him. He quickly unfolded them and set them up in the kitchen as she showered and dressed up.

"Um... kinda embarrassing... but I sort of put a hole through the corner of your towel, the thing hooked onto a horn." She apologized with a laugh as she returned.

He quickly swept the table of any residual dust with a dustcloth before turning to attend to the simmering food on the electric stove after quickly washing his hands; his lips curled to a smile as he heard her footsteps in the hallway, accompanied with a chipper voice.

What he did not expect to hear in her tone however, was the synthesized intonation in her voice, akin to that of a voice filtered through a helmet annunciator.

The kid’s smile grew even wider when he laid eyes on the Zabrak adorning his helmet; in another time he would have expressed his annoyance about going through his belongings without his permission, but that was no longer the case with the girl.

Not to mention he couldn’t get over the fact that just how good the helmet looked on her, never minding the splatters of dried blood and grime covering its faceplate.

It took some effort to shift his gaze away from her.

"Also I'm starting to think I should've stayed on Hefi, this thing's awesome." She snickered as she took it off and set it down on the counter.

”In a way, I am glad you didn’t,” he said as he adversely looked away from her and went about turning off the stove, pulling the saucepan off the hot plate; a smile lingered on his features as he spoke, his visage remained over her for a moment before he shifted his gaze onto the saucepan once more. He couldn’t help but notice more scarring on her skin; although he could not see the one on her thigh, he could see the edges of it peeking out from underneath her tank top. ”More than likely, I would not have met you today if you did,” he remarked with a playful chuckle as he began filling the bread-like wraps, and wrapping tightly afterwards, making sure the filling and its juices did not flow freely from any gaps or cracks after a bite.

As she stood next to him, she took a whiff of the delicious meal and let out a hum. "You gotta send me the recipe, this looks amazing." She quipped as she stepped away towards her spot against the counter.

”Oh it’s not at all difficult to make!” The Misfit went on to eagerly explain as he first handled her portion of her meal, finished wrapping two already in the matter of a few moments as he spoke. ”First you start by chopping the ingredients to no larger than a bite-size. I recommend cooking the meat first with the spices, then adding in the vegetables. If you add the vegetables first, the meat just might not cook well. Then you just add the filling to the bread-like wrap then roll it up; like this!” He said as he quickly demonstrated how to roll one up; with the last of her franikhad’s wrapped up, the kid stacked them neatly on a plate, passing it to her on the counter.

He then began wrapping up his own as he continued. ”Mind you, how a franikhad is prepared differs from planet to planet, as it’s prepared with said planet’s local meats, vegetables and spices, and not to mention the influence of the unique culture of the locals, that obviously differs from planet to planet… But regardless, you can still make them with the ingredients of your own choosing. The most glaring difference between the one I’ve made and a franikhad from, say… Tatooine for instance, is how it’s cooked; the locals there dig makeshift ovens on the ground, and cook the food with the planet’s own heat.” he concluded with a smile as he stacked the last of his rolled up franikhad wraps onto his plate, finished with wrapping them in a matter of a few moments.

"By the way... you mentioned something about a mothership a second ago. I thought y'all live on Kestri?" She asked him with a curious frown.

Filling the now empty, smeared over saucepan with hot water, he set the dirty dish beside the kitchen sink as she raised him an inquiry. Ah not all of us, no. Certainly not Clan Krayt, ” he answered her as he took his plate, taking a seat at the table. The Vhipirheim. Also affectionately referred to as ‘The Mothership’. My first home. My clan, we are a fleet-based clan. You could think of us as nomads for that matter. Our flagship, and the rest of the Krayt Fleet, is our home.” he fell silent as he took a bite from the wrap in his hands after he finished explaining; the nicely cooked, tender meat simply dissolved along with the vegetables at a gentle bite off the wrap. He closed his eyes for a moment, silently savoring the mouthburn he sought after as he slowly chewed his bite.

But that wasn't enough for him.

Opening his eyes as he set the franikhad wrap in his hands on his plate, he stood up and walked towards the fridge nearby. ”Do you want some hot sauce with that?” he asked Ara as he pulled the fridge door.

Ara waved his words off with a chuckle as she glanced away for a moment. "Oh, quit with the sappy stuff." She teased as she sat down by the table he set up. It was still far too early to know where things would go. As endearing as his words were, it did feel a little bit rushed in the moment. Though she wouldn't seriously press his buttons over it. In the short while they officially were together, she felt more warmth, sincerity and affection with Kayl than she felt with Kyell Laysel in the short time she had with him.

Perhaps Kayl was what she needed in her life. Or maybe it was just the will of the Force for them to meet in such an unorthodox manner. Only time would be able to tell.

Taking her plate, Ara listened to Kayl's explanation for a moment as she began to bite away at her meal. She couldn't deny that it was absolutely delicious. Instead of a confirmation or proper answer, the only sounds escaping Ara for a moment were soft hums and moans of pure delight and satisfaction. At least until he explained the steps on making the recipe. "Sounds like a rather open and close recipe, not gonna lie. Like... you can make it with whatever, as long as you got the basics down. Although... now that you mention it... I've forgotten just how hot Tatooine can get." She admitted with a snicker before taking another bite.

He went on to talk about his clan, though it felt a little strange with the amount of emotion he spoke. "I don't get it. If you guys all live in a fleet and stuff... usually that means y'all would be tight. What exactly happened that you felt like you need to leave?" She asked him, only realizing afterwards what she was asking. "I mean... if you're cool with talking about that. I, uh... don't wanna bring up any bad memories." She quickly continued as she held a hand up with wide eyes.

She gave a nod as he offered some hot sauce and almost immediately the effects were apparent as she lathered her wraps up with sauce. Her cheeks reddened and she let out a sniff every now and then, but she didn't flinch or budge as she took one bite after the other. "This thing was made for hot sauce. Just straight up. It's amazing." She muttered before taking another mouthful.

Soon enough she started with her second wrap and then her third without any hesitation as she sprinkled some more sauce on. "I'll make us some burgers next week. Got that diner flavour down perfectly." She quipped with a bright smile. "Also curious about what else you can make." She continued as her foot gently nudged his leg underneath the table.

By the time she started with her third wrap, Ara had a number of thoughts and questions. Most notably with her behaviour. "By the way... if I'm makin' you feel uncomfortable or something, just say so. I... I tease and joke a lot, I ain't really one to keep my thoughts quiet... but if I'm asking or saying something too personal, just say something.." She offered with a guilty smile as she took a sip of water to cool down her mouth.

I don't get it.

Leaned into the fridge, hand reaching out for the bottle of hot sauce, he paused in his tracks at her question. At her words the memories of the past reared its ugly head in his thoughts again. In defiance of the unsavory moments he had experienced in the past, his heartwarming smile continued to linger on his visage as he closed the lid of the fridge, with the hot sauce in his hand. ”My clan is a very tight knit community, of course. There’s nothing they would not do if it meant protecting a kin,” he began, pouring some hot sauce onto his wraps before passing it to Ara.

”But, I… I could never really be a part of them, of that… family, he continued, his last words at a mutter; he had not an ounce of disdain or resentment in his voice when he talked of his clan, but only hurt and heartbreak. ”I’m not the boisterous kind, unlike many of them are. I resented my handiwork until… until today, yes.” he came to a pause as he took a hefty bite from his wrap; he couldn’t help but remember the sweet sensation of relief and deep enjoyment that came right after snuffing out all those lives. ”I could never really garner their respect, no matter the things I’ve accomplished.” he continued after swallowing his bite; the hot spices coupled with the hot sauce reddened his visage.

He was just a few shades of red away from looking like a Lethan; the more he continued to speak of his past, the further his smile faded. Bit by bit.

”The errands I’ve occupied myself with, to be useful for my clan in my own way, and to earn my keep and to get their respect… It was mostly thankless, and on the rare occasions they did extend their gratitude, it just felt… insincere. he had felt it in their words; the things they did not voice, was underlied in their words. ”To them, I believe… I’m.. still the scared child they found, hiding in the vents, even after the deeds I’ve accomplished for my clan. I do not know what to do, to prove them otherwise…” the kid sighed as he unwillingly averted his gaze onto a corner of the table, his thoughts drifting faraway from the confines of the room; he really wondered if things would have been any different if he had undergone the overwhelming and liberating sensations he felt during the skirmish in the warehouse, earlier in his life.

"This thing was made for hot sauce. Just straight up. It's amazing." She muttered before taking another mouthful.

Her sincere compliment prevented him from mulling away further; shifting his gaze back onto her visage, a bright smile got ahold of his features once more.

The soft hums and moans of delight and satisfaction of how the meal he prepared tasted had not at all escaped him. ”I concur!” he agreed with her in a delighted chirp as he took another bite. ”I am glad you liked it,”

"I'll make us some burgers next week. Got that diner flavour down perfectly." She quipped with a bright smile.

”Well, here’s something to look forward to,” he cheerily remarked in response to her quip. ”Beer's are from me for that instance!” he chuckled as he took another bite and finished his wrap, moving onto his second.

"Also curious about what else you can make." She continued as her foot gently nudged his leg underneath the table.

”I believe I will have a lot of opportunities to satisfy that curiosity of yours as we go,” he snickered as her foot gently nudged his leg; with a smile as he took another bite from his meal, the kid extended his leg forth, gently brushing it against hers.

He could not say cooking was a big interest of his unlike it was for Ara, but he could definitely cook; the mouth wateringly delicious, and wholly filling meal they were eating right now was a testament to that.

At her remark he fell silent with a heartfelt grin pulling at his lips as his gaze took in the beautiful features of her visage, and the pair of ravishing green eyes; she was caring. Caring of him more than his own kin… save for one man amongst them, his Clan Chief, the venerable Kel Dor Shaman ( Jos Krayt Jos Krayt ).

”Don’t be hesitant to be who you are. Certainly not when you're with me,” The Misfit responded in return with a loving smile; he did not at all mind the girl speaking her mind. As much as he appreciated the heads-up, that if her remarks were to upset him or anger him that he should speak up about it, he did not find it to be so necessary; he was not the type to hold a grudge.

”If anything, you should be the one to give me a notice. I’ve been told many times I possess the ability to talk one’s head off by simply oversharing trivial information in a conversation,” he quipped with a snicker as he took a bite from the wrap in his hands, falling silent for a moment afterwards.

”So I… he would begin after eating his second wrap, moving onto his third. ”I must admit one of your comments from earlier sparked my curiosity,” he began as he poured in considerable amounts of hot sauce onto his third wrap, wholly addicted to the painful yet utterly delicious sensation of the mouth burn from the sauce and the hot spices. ”Why did you stay? Why didn’t you leave for Hefi?” he asked her, seeming mildly hesitant as he worded his question, unsure if it would rekindle any bad memories or not.

Ara quickly realized that she was out of her depth as he explained the situation with his clan. She didn't know his clan and she was still getting to know him properly. It was likely better to just not say anything and rather focus on supporting him. It seemed to work thus far, she could feel the content he felt while being around her. That was good enough. She wasn't that far off, herself.

”Well, here’s something to look forward to,”

”Beer's are from me for that instance!”

"Now you got a deal, tin can." Ara quipped with a grin. "Can't have a good burger without a good beer, that's an important part of the meal." She snickered. Her laughter escalated a little as she felt his leg brush against hers. Was this actually normal? How did other people usually behave in relationships? She was going to have to hit up Valery Noble Valery Noble or someone at this rate. She was in the deep end of things...

Or perhaps she could just free ball it and go with the flow. She was just overthinking it all.

”Don’t be hesitant to be who you are. Certainly not when you're with me,”

”If anything, you should be the one to give me a notice. I’ve been told many times I possess the ability to talk one’s head off by simply oversharing trivial information in a conversation,”

"Oh don't worry, I'm an open book. You do something wack, you'll hear it from me first. Lucky for you, I ain't gonna say no to some good old-fashioned smack talkin'." She flashed a wink as she sat back and finished her meal. A sigh of pleasure escaped her as her hands rested behind her head. Between the talking and the food, she was having an amazing day. It felt like the previous events were little more than a fever dream.

Though his next question had her features darken a little as she glanced away. "Now that's a loaded question." She muttered as a sad smile formed.

"Gotta rewind way back for that. Basically... I was friends with this one dude. Kyell Laysel. Me and Kyell have been friends for... three years, by that point. I started to like him so I took a chance and asked him out. He said yes... but about a week or two after that, he left on a mission for his master, and then went on to go fight on Empress Teta. In that time away, he met this other girl, Miri Nimdok." Her green eyes shifted back to him as her smile faltered a little.

"From what he said... he knew her for only a week or so. But in that time, they slept together and he took a bigger liking in her. He cheated on me with her. It messed me up bad... but I went off the rails with that. I pulled a blaster, set it to stun but lowered the power output... then I mag-dumped him. Lit his nervous system up like a Life Day celebration. After that, I saw them together at a Gala... and I attacked his girl. Cracked her skull against a bar counter. Naturally I got expelled from the order and I was arrested... but the shuttle transporting me crashed on Panatha. That's where I got this." She lifted the tank top slightly and pointed to the scar across her stomach. With a long sigh she glanced off and took a sip of water.

"I survived, definitely some kind of Force intervention with that one. But... Sheridans ain't quitters. I messed up and I gotta live up to my mistakes. I let my emotions get the better of me and I attacked people. I destroyed my relationships with my friends and pushed them away when they tried to help me. I could have moved in with my mom, helped her in the shop and join the Mandos... but that's the easy way out. The Jedi gave me a life. A reason to live. Taught me to read and write, helped me move on from what I lived through, helped my mom too. Throwing that all out the window is karked up." With a light nod she looked up at him again. "I wanna make things work. Mom wasn't a quitter and I ain't one either. If I can at least be somewhat decent as a Jedi and make a difference, then yeah I'll go through hell to make that happen. Already am, in all honesty. Between the community service and lessons, I'm gettin' my ass handed to me."

She looked away with pursed lips for a moment as she tried to think of how to salvage the mood. She couldn't think of anything. "If... you tell me to go home because I'm a psycho harpy, I won't blame you, by the way." She chuckled as she brushed her hair back. She would be disappointed, but she wouldn't be angry at him. She knew her mistakes, she admitted to all of them and she was trying to work on them.

Though his next question had her features darken a little as she glanced away. "Now that's a loaded question." She muttered as a sad smile formed.

The Misfit couldn’t help but grimace at her mutter; his lingering smile bittersweetly mixed with a grimace. A muffled sigh escaped his lips in silent response, though one could presume he was trying to extinguish the mouth burn with a heave of breath. Putting back the last of his franikhad wraps back onto his plate, the kid would intently hearken to her words.

Cracked her skull against a bar counter."

As the pair of green eyes shifted back at him, the kid gave a slow, understanding nod of his head; why she had sternly drove the hilt of her lightsaber into his midriff, now made sense to him. At that time, lacking the information she gave him now, forced to simply theorize with what was known to him then, he had chalked that up to just how the girl handled things, a habit of some kind, maybe coupled with the self-determined, proud and as some would say, arrogant nature of her species.

This revelation of the truth, the facts as she told him, had changed his perception of her. She was only afraid of getting hurt once more; very much afraid of the idea that someone she held dear to her heart, someone that she opened up to, betraying her… again.

Understandably.

At her words the mild, wry expression that mixed bitterly with his smile would be swept away, with understanding and his sympathy left in the wake of the grimace.

"Naturally I got expelled from the order and I was arrested... but the shuttle transporting me crashed on Panatha. That's where I got this." She lifted the tank top slightly and pointed to the scar across her stomach. With a long sigh she glanced off and took a sip of water.

Continuing, when she slightly skirted up her tank top, revealing the rest of the visible scarring that ran across her stomach and midriff for him to see clearly, he couldn’t help but close his eyes shut and avert his gaze from her at that moment; the sight cut him to the bone. It was not as if he was squeamish at the sight of injury, or freshly spilt blood. Not at all.

He felt it to be completely heart-wrenching to look at. In the period of time he got to know her, with the right interactions just, sparkling a flame within the young Mandalorian, he came to love her. And seeing for himself that once pained a beloved was…

Words of any language known to man, more than likely would do it injustice when it came to describe just how painful that must have felt.

Taking in her beautiful visage once more as the girl continued, the kid leaned slightly forth towards the table. His head rested on his hand as he intently listened to her words once she began explaining why she really stayed behind instead of leaving for Hefi. His gaze lingered on her eyes, as a heartwarming smile pulled at his lips; she was sort of a Misfit herself, but that had occurred under different circumstances compared to that of Kayl’s situation.

But regardless, she was… alone. Through her misdeeds, of course, but alone nevertheless.

And he knew just how that felt.

It was utterly damning. A wholly dark, choking, utterly bleak sensation, that dug itself into its prey like a tick; feeding off of, and sucking away at one’s will, stripping them from sensations of the jovial kind.

And despite all of that, despite just how heavy that sensation was to bear on one’s shoulders, the girl not only soldiered onwards, she worked to better herself; accepting and identifying one’s flaws, shortcomings… that was a solid groundwork to build up on, to become a better version of one’s self.

To say he was not left in awe of her would have been unjust. The strength of her will was nothing short of praiseworthy, at the very least. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration washing over him, as his warm, affectionate gaze lingered on her visage. His heartbeat rose up a notch once more, the same way when he first locked his lips with the girl when they stood beside the iron beast.

"If... you tell me to go home because I'm a psycho harpy, I won't blame you, by the way." She chuckled as she brushed her hair back.

Silent for a moment, at first he was not sure how to respond as a heartfelt amorosity washed over him. Although he was not completely overwhelmed by it; he could see uneasiness settling into her from her body language alone -and not to mention, the notion underlying her words were apprehension, hinting at a concern regarding her explanation might’ve ruined the mood.

But what he felt within him was the complete opposite of what she thought.

”You’re my ‘psycho harpy,” he quipped at her with a chuckle. A moment after, he gently rose from his chair, and walked towards her. Come here, The Misfit muttered to her, with a heartfelt smile taking hold of his features; gently pulling her into a hug after she stood up, he muttered not a word for a long moment as he wrapped his arms around her. Raising a hand as he held her in his affectious embrace, he fondly carded her long, flowing dark brown hair with each stroke of his hand while he took in her dizzying, fresh and tantalizing fragrance with a soft but lingering draw of breath.

I love you, The Misfit affectionately murmured to her, tightening his embrace ever so slightly at the wake of his words.

Given his reactions to her story, Ara was convinced that their relationship was over before it could truly begin. What she got instead was a quip that earned a laugh and a feeling of relief. The Zabrak rose and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, careful not to bury her horns into his chest as she held onto him. "Don't say I didn't warn ya." She muttered with a smile.

Then he said the words. Those three words she always wanted to hear. Three words only her mother ever said to her. She almost returned the gesture in kind, but instead she kept her lips sealed for a moment as she contemplated the words.

It felt too early. They only just met. While they kicked it off perfectly and felt like a solid pair of peas in a pod... it felt too soon to just return those special words. Still, she knew where the words were coming from and she knew they were sincere. Genuine.

Something she wasn't used to. Certainly not in a situation like this.

"Don't go falling in love just yet, Mando." She pulled back to look up at him as her arms remained wrapped around his sides. "Don't wanna say that when I might pop a few bolts in your ass." She teased before standing on her toes to try and reach his lips.

Just because she didn't want to say the words, didn't mean she was going to stay away from moments like these.

When she pulled back, she gave his backside a slap and slinked away to clean up the table. "You wanna watch a movie? Or are we crashing?" She asked him casually as she deposited the plates into the sink and stored the furniture away.

Walking past him, Ara picked up his helmet once more and slid it onto her head. "I think I'm gonna hold onto this." Her synthesized voice quipped with a snicker as she retreated to the living room.

"Don't say I didn't warn ya." She muttered with a smile.

Duly noted,” The Misfit muttered with a chuckle and a smile of his own, acknowledging her remark with a quip. As she too wrapped her arms around him and tightened her embrace, the young lad wordlessly responded in kind; even though he hugged the Jedi more tightly, the young man never forgoed some form of restraint to avoid hurting her.

At the wake of his declaration of love to her, he could sense a moment’s diffidence from her. She voiced her thoughts not long after his utterance of love towards her.

"Don't go falling in love just yet, Mando." She pulled back to look up at him as her arms remained wrapped around his sides. "Don't wanna say that when I might pop a few bolts in your ass."

He snickered at her quip while he continued to look into the pair of beautiful green eyes looking back at him. Although the fire she sparked within him compelled him otherwise, he understood the girl’s sentiment without an issue; the feelings he felt towards her, he found them to be overwhelming. He had voiced his feelings and acted upon them throughout the night after that first kiss, wholly compelled by them.

He knew of the science behind it all. The chemistry of love, what makes one feel the way they felt about a person they found themselves attracted to; aside from several other hormones, high levels of dopamine and norepinephrine coursed in one’s veins. It made one giddy, energetic and euphoric at the sight of someone they felt attracted to.

Those were but a handful of things he felt at the sight of Ara now.

Seeing the girl trying to reach up to his visage, he leaned forward towards her and gently locked his lips with the girl’s, as they held each other in their embrace. Pulling back afterwards, he couldn’t help but squirm mildly with a chuckle, as his visage reddened again at the wake of a gentle slap at his backside.

"You wanna watch a movie? Or are we crashing?"

Before he spoke, he briefly pondered her question as he helped her with the dishes. ”Getting some shut-eye is not at all a bad idea,” he muttered, with a nod of his head at the thought. He needed to get up early tomorrow after all, to get done with packing up and moving to another place as his place was now compromised. It was not really safe for either of them to stay here. But… I don’t feel tired at all right now, if I am being honest,” he remarked in return as she picked up and slipped on his helmet from the kitchen counter.

"I think I'm gonna hold onto this." Her synthesized voice quipped with a snicker as she retreated to the living room.

At her quip and snicker the kid chuckled along as he followed behind her, leaving the kitchen. As she walked into the living room, he would change his path and head over to his quarters, only to emerge a moment after with a spare comfy pillow and a blanket in his hands when he joined her in the living room.

”As much as the helmet looks good on you,” he began as he went about quickly preparing the couch to make it more comfortable to sleep in. “You better not be intending to sleep while wearing that, unless you’re content with waking up to a sharp neck pain,” he remarked with a chuckle as he finished preparing the couch. He did not think the girl was used to sleeping in armor; as much as it was not so hard to get used to, it normally took some time to adjust to it.

She walked around the couch and stretched up to give him a kiss. "Sleep tight, Mando." She muttered as she eyed him for a moment before pulling away.

The Zabrak tucked herself in and allowed herself to relax against the couch with a long sigh. Overall, the day took a really good turn. She managed to fly one hell of a machine... and she got a boyfriend out of it. She was still a bit nervous of the prospects of it, but she had faith. Kayl was solid and they got along really well.
