In Ran Serys' opinion the Onyx Runner was a ship like no other. It was her home, her first and longest home. It had been with her from padawan to knight. It had seen her through adventures within and beyond the known galaxy. It was a large part of the most mundane moments in her life, and the mundane moments were her favorite. She wondered if she would think back on the moment she was currently experiencing as a mundane moment.
While the Onyx Runner traveled through hyperspace, Ran and Vera were at the end of a Jedi meditation exercise meant to increase the connection between a master and their padawan. It was going as well as one would expect from a student and mentor relationship so new. Ran knew that when they knew each other well enough the effectiveness of their meditations and training would increase. Ran didn't say this to Vera though. She didn't believe Vera needed to know, not yet, or maybe it was true that she already knew. Vera was the daughter of arguably the two greatest Jedi Ran had ever known. The knight wasn't sure of what had been shared with her, Ran only knew that she doubted much was kept from Vera. Still she'd teach the teenager how she wanted to teach the teenager, and maybe somewhere along this trip they could gain a deeper understanding of one another.
Ran blinked an eye while in meditation. Taking in the appearance of her newest padawan, Vera Noble, as she meditated across from her in the Onyx Runner's meditation and recreation chamber. "Vera." Ran called out. "This is the end of our meditation." The mirialan opened her second glowing eye, uncrossed her legs, and made her way up to her feet. "We have a sufficient amount of time to engage in some combat training, and have a meal before we arrive on Mirial. Is there an aspect of combat that worries you or something you feel you could better yourself in the practice of? I shall guide you to the best of my ability." Ran continued, reaching a hand out to help the young lady up, all the while putting the ball in Vera's corner as far as her training went. It was a small way of getting to know her and understanding what she thought of her combat capabilities. Part of being a Jedi was being a warrior, even if it wasn't all of it.
"Also- What would you like to eat? I'm sure I can make us something so delicious, we won't even need to power on the food synthesizer."
