Approved Tech Personal Gravity Field Generator

Status

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create an accessory gravity field generator that provides a capability to non-force users they currently don't have, although not to the same extreme that true force users possess this capability. Inspired by a Rebels episode where Royal Guards use force pikes to as a sort of telekinesis device to restrain Ezra Bridger.
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: Tractor Beam, tensor field generator, force pike.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Wrist/Forearm mounted generator.
  • Palm/gauntlet mounted projector.
STRENGTHS
  • Manipulator: The personal gravity field generator offers a significant boost in the capability for a non-force user; it can help them pry open doors, lift stationary heavy machinery or objects, retrieve tools or weapons lying around in their environment or even launch items in their environment at a desired target.
  • Pained compliance: Being caught in the centre of dozens if not hundreds of extraordinarily dense high-gravity anomalies is extraordinarily painful for a sentient subject; this behaviour can be used for pained compliance when necessary, or alternatively torture.
WEAKNESSES
  • Fine motor control: Though it has the potential to grip static objects, the user may struggle to correctly aim the generator at very small items the size of pencils or pens for example, particularly at range.
  • Limited range: The personal gravity field generator, in its' intended use of personal application among industrial workers, law enforcement, and military personnel, has a limited range. It can typically only reach thirty-five meters away from the projector.
  • Physical damage: Physical damage to the wrist-mounted generator, such as direct strikes from kinetic or directed energy weapons, for example, can disable or disrupt its' operation.
  • Single tether: Only a single object or target can be tethered in the gravity field generator; attention is required to aim and manipulate the gravity field.
DESCRIPTION
A modern Norr innovation from the Grutter Norr Ryk's State Defence Industries, the gravity field generator is a wrist mounted-device with a projector on the palm of the hand that creates a tube of crackling white artificial gravity and gives persons in the civil and military workforce the ability to move extraordinarily heavy objects. Taking inspiration from the force pike and tractor beams usually mounted on large starships, the gravity field generator can be mounted on a worker's wrist and generates micro-gravity fields that can then be directed around to manipulate static objects in the environment. This is especially useful for emergency service workers who can use gravity field generator modules to pry doors off crashed land speeders or lift a speeder bike off a person. Additionally, there is a military or law enforcement application for this technology. While it is short-ranged, the gravity field generator can be used to detain and subdue single targets about thirty-five meters away, which for law enforcement personnel reduces or eliminates the necessity to use physical force and risk injury to themselves or a violent offender. In a military application, the gravity field generator can be used by troopers as a deterrent against force wielders from trying to get close with a lightsaber if they were to know they'd be caught and thrown around in a ragdoll field, or alternatively to hurl a grenade.
