ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Offense
Defense
Utility

Strengths:

 • Amazing hangar capacity.

 • Evenly spaced weapons emplacements, giving it good coverage at all angles.

 • Defensive capabilities are greatly enhanced whilst its overshield is active.

 • S-thread catapults create temporary hyperspace tunnels that allow attack craft and small capital ships to move through environments where interdictor fields and similar hazards are present, up to a about a sector/hex in terms of distance.

 • The use of the the Utai pilot seat allows allows for instinctive astrogation, even for NFU to a degree.
Weaknesses:

 • As its emplacements are evenly placed, it can’t focus them all into one zone like a typical dagger design.

 • Low speed and maneuverability, making it easy to outmaneuver and outpace by most smaller vessels.

 • Whilst the overshield is active, its extreme emplacements (including its S-thread catapults) are rendered inoperable as power is rerouted to redundant shield generators.

 • Whilst using S-thread catapults, the ship must remain immobile.

 • As they’re so narrow, An S-thread can only be used for ingress or egress routes, not both at the same time.

 • S-threads created still won’t prevent collision with physical objects or celestial bodies in space.

 • Use of the hyperspace tunnels created by the S-threads are limited to small vessels up to 250 meters in length.
Description:

The Pegasus are a class of supercarriers and sector-level command ships developed for the Silver Spacy. Conceptualization began shortly after the Resurgent Empire’s invasion of Serenno, where the Silver Spacy and its then Dominion allies first encountered the Galactic Empire’s flagship, the Pallaeon. As Spacy commanders witnessed the battlecruiser shrug off fire from some of their toughest ships, including shots from a Tenchu battlecruiser, they realized at that point they were horribly outmatched.

As part of their efforts to combat the GE’s increasingly tough capital ships, almost all active Tenchu and those still in production were pulled for a massive refit operation to overhaul offensive capabilities (Akula-class heavy destroyers, originally developed for the GADF, being utilized in the interim to fulfill a similar command and ‘shipbuster’ role), while a parallel project began to create a new line of larger battlecruisers to rival anything produced by the Galactic Empire and its other enemies.

Inspiration for this new battlecruiser line was taken from the GADF’s own Itsukusk, then the only known supercarrier in the galaxy, fielding an unheard of 42 squadrons. Like the GADF, the Silver Spacey also favored long range carrier tactics. The new battlecruisers, eventually named as the Pegasus-class, were modeled in a similar fashion to maximize hangar capacity, but improvements were made to both offensive and defensive capabilities to make a more potent warship for battle management and the rare instances where it would see frontline action.

While moving forward with a clear concept in mind, production was still slow, as the fledgling Silver Engineering Corporation and its associates were rediscovering fabrication techniques for ships of the scale of the Pegasus-class. Additionally SEC suffered setbacks the SJO and its allies were repeatedly hammered in a multi-front war against the Imperials and the Sith, paving the way for the Great Galactic War that shifted to the borders of the Galactic Alliance. However, the lengthy process gave the SEC time to incorporate new features in response to developments from their enemies, namely the Keeper-class Interdictor Platform.

From her research of the Sanctuary Pipeline which began after the First Order’s blockade of the southern arm of the Hydian Way, Jyoti Nooran was struck with the idea of incorporating a miniaturized version of the technology into the Pegasus-class. This would allow attack craft and small capital ships to move within an area of operation unimpeded by interdictor fields and other grav traps favored by the First Order Navy. Ideally, a Pegasus would be situated just out of the battlespace, or within a hard to reach area (possible with the Utai navigation system enabling and/or boosting instinctive astrogation abilities), coordinating the actions of an sector level fleet while also facilitating their movement, realizing the ultimate form of starfighter blitz tactics.

In the end, two ships were completed, the eponymously named Pegasus, and Grand Chariot. Originally, a total of six ships had been slated for production, but the SEC stopped with the two as it improved fabrication methods and went into a new direction with ship designs under an updated naval doctrine being developed by the Silver Spacy calling for greater synergy between varying classes.

Right off the bat, given the very ambiguous nature of S-Thread Boosters in SW canon, the catapults need to be their own tech sub, to make it perfectly clear just what capability they do and do not have.
