Pawnless, a King looks to other Kings (The Sith Order)

Serenno
Approximately five months ago, an associate to the Manda-Roon Mining Triad had followed a client back to his homeworld and spent a week there trying to woo her for his own ends. Towards the end of his trip, he took a hike into a forested mountain, and at the peak something caught his eye, and gained a certain kind of feeling only a miner got after years in the business.

He abandoned his attempts to woo the Serenno Countess, and dug into the peak of the mountain, to discover just a few meters underneath the stone, the ore Tydirium. On its own, it isn't especially valuable, but if the Triad's operations expanded to search for Phrikite, their profits over the alloy production would be immense. Besides, Tydirium on is own might just be valuable enough to sell in profitable quantities to those who believe they can do just that. There was certainly a market for it... a market he decided to bring up to his countess. To say the least, she was not pleased by the idea her cherished homeworld mountains being polluted by almost criminally orientated prospectors to gain a foothold on her planet. The Triad was enticed by the idea of both expanding their operational capacity and gaining a potential resource for the future, and pushed forward, putting increased pressure on the Nobles.

After months of debate and illegal operations squandered, the Triad were beginning to lose interest. Nonetheless, other business rivals, as well as allies had heard of the potential Triad expansion in Serenno... which inevitably lead to a single very important set of ears.

Darth Voracitos.

Jonathan Boke, the given name of the Sith Lord, while bereft of much of his fortune and only just recently replenished in his slave count, had returned to the stage of business with his many past connections. His contacts from Filth and his old gang had been busy since his revealed return in gathering information for him, specifically of operations surrounding the Stygian Caldera. It was with this moment, the Dark Lord realized his given name would no longer hold much sway in the business world, having been the name of a dead man for twenty years. He would need a new identity, a related identity, to gather support for his own personal endeavors for profit in the future. He would need allies. Wealthy or influential allies, and a few he just might have on hand... Yesterday's enemies may yet become today's companions.

Under the new name Durand Boke, the Dark Lord made contact with the Manda-Roon Triad through his old confidante "Fatty", posing as Jonathan Boke's own "Cousin" (whom never existed). He also made contact with a few lesser Serenno nobles under the guise "Grith Cro", and managed to arrange a meeting with one of them in regards to the prospecting situation as a third party legal negotiator. It was not enough, however. Voracitos was used to having a small army of pawns at his beck and call, but these days the Shadow Emperor had relied solely upon the providence of [member="Karn Zhakul"]. It was a relationship which unsettled the Dark Lord greatly, and forced him to branch out to those he would ordinarily consider rivals.

[member="Tirdarius"] had always struck him as the intelligent sort, the black sheep among a generation of senseless butchers who only aspired to see blood trickle regardless of whether it made one stronger or more powerful, or not.

[member="Darth Vitium"], though he was largely unfamiliar with her, he had learned she possessed something of reputation. Similar in ways to Tirdarius, he considered her candidacy as a *colleague* in this proposition he held. It was only safe to assume that her apprentice, [member="Darth Imperia"], would be likely to come to her aid as well if she agreed to meet with the Corpulent One, though this was not in his mind. There were others, he considered below his concern, he might task Karn with assembling, but those two Sith Lords were prime among his list of those he believed capable of calling upon or convincing to his support.

The hologram messaged received, to those who received it, was simplistic if only to hide the complexity of his proposition:

"Outside our Stygian Caldera, on Serenno, a significant mining operation has been pushing for months to gain complete access to the planet against the wishes of the local nobles. To secure the borders of the Caldera, and fortify our influence, I suggest we intervene in this affair, through infiltration of this mining "Triad" in the local sector, and persuading access through the local nobles."
"If you are receiving this hologram, be delighted that I consider you a possible colleague, and if you wish to maintain this status while avoiding the ire of my rivalry, I suggest you visit me at the designated coordinates contained in this information packet."
"Make your choice, wisely."

Maleagant was no king. More of a duke than anything, really, if one were to be generous. Although if one were to keep going with the chess metaphor, perhaps Maleagant as a bishop was more apt. Somehow he doubted that his role on the chess board was as important as the fact that he was willing to be put on the chess board in the first place. Looking around, Maleagant could see that he was the only individual waiting around the designated coordinates. He had been approached by a servitor of [member="Darth Voracitos"], [member="Karn Zhakul"], to assist in some matter regarding a mining triad and noble recalcitrance on Serenno.

Serenno was not exactly within Maleagant's traditional sphere of influence, but he was willing to arrive on the planet and do the bidding of others regardless. He expected no reward. Maleagant intended to create his own during his time on the planet. The opportunity, or excuse rather, to brush shoulders with the various nobility and bully them into submission could be exploited for other ends. One could never have too many informants and confidants scattered around the galaxy, and Maleagant suspected that at least some of these nobles already had webs of their own. Exponential expansion and all that.
