Strengths:
- Decently Fast: Though not the most maneuverable ship the Pattuglia Class is reasonably fast an can out run other ships around it's size or keep up with smaller ships reasonably well.
- Jack of All Trade: The array of point defense, ion cannons and a heavy turbo laser makes the Pattuglia Class able to operate by itself without support from larger vessel to some extent.
- Fighter Base: Can carry one squadron of fighters with it for patrols, different tasks or other necessary situations.
- Ships of the Line: Is unable to take on craft that have proper ship to ship weaponry as it is unable to return with adequate fire to cause much of a threat to anything above larger or better armored then itself..
- Non-Specialised: Due to it's jack of all trades it can not really be used in any special situation, though able to screen fighters is not an anti-star fighting ship nor does it have the fire power to 1v1 other capital ships.
- Size matters: Though having decent speed for it's size the length of the ship does make it harder to maneuver then other corvettes
History of Development:
As the Principality changed to an Imperium as the world grew the ever present need for a proper home naval force was needed. Though for the most part able to rely on their neighboring planet for Naval aid and to keep the sector secure it was apparent that such could not always be relied upon, more so in the prospect of war picking up and the need for assets to be transported to front the lines.
With this aspect known and the ever increasing population of Tythe it was not long before the design of a multi-role corvette was put into the works. Said ship had to be able to operate independently to some extent in almost every forms, weather it be against fighters, freighters or other small warships. The resulting design was an almost frigate long craft capable of for fulling many different roles when put up against slaver/raiders or pirates.
Operational Use:
The Pattuglia is mainly used as a patrol ship for the Imperium used mainly within friendly borders to prevent smugglers, slaver, raiders along with other undesirable from running amok. It's multi role capabilities playing into this well as it is able to hypothetically tackle any sort of method pirates may use, swam fighters, armed freighters and even the odd corvette.
In times of war the Pattuglia Class is best used as a conventional fighter screening craft. Though not on part with other corvettes around it's size in this capacity it is more then capable of keeping a larger ships weak point safe from bomber and heavy fighter. Beyond that though it is ill equipped to take on other capital ships around it's size though works well in harassing fleeing ships and is able to immobilize them with it's ion cannons.
