DESCRIPTION
Originally constructed in 44 BBY, Paperweight was wielded by the Anzati Jedi known as Sor-Jan Xantha during the final days of the Old Republic, including throughout the campaigns of the Clone Wars as one of the Jedi Generals overseeing the war effort.

Prior to the Clone Wars, Xantha had been a Jedi Consular who specialized in archaeological research, the lightsaber's name came from the fact that it was regularly used as a paperweight for the little Jedi's notes and research. A task for which its 1-kilogram weight did a fine job. The original configuration of the weapon used a kyber crystal recovered from the planet Ilum as part of the traditional Gathering ceremony. After a hyperspace accident amid Order 66 resulted in his crashing on the planet Lothal, the crystal in the lightsaber was shattered, rendering the weapon inoperable.

The current configuration of the weapon is the result of its repair and reconstruction on the planet Ossus, which took place in 844 ABY, using a kyber supplied to him by the Jedi of this new era. Finding himself in a chaotic galaxy, one in which a different Galactic Republic battled with an empire known as the One Sith, Sor-Jan carried this weapon with him while wandering through the Outer Rim with a group known as the Levantine Sanctum -- opting to put some space between him and this new Republic while trying to reconcile his past with the present in which he found himself.

When the Levantine Sanctum merged with the Order of the Silver Jedi, Sor-Jan phased out the use of this lightsaber in favor of a newer, Force-imbued dueling saber (named Papercut) that reflected his change in outlook, having adopted the role of a Jedi Sentinel. Thus, by the time that the boy became a master on the Silver Jedi Council, this lightsaber had already been retired. Several padawans of his would also carry it during this period, before they had constructed their own.

After Papercut was destroyed amid the Mandalore affair, the boy resigned from the Jedi Council and traveled to the Kathol Outback -- again, carrying this lightsaber with him. Though, during this period, he more commonly used a blaster pistol than he did a lightsaber.

The weapon was retired again when he joined the ranks of the Knights Obsidian, before being replaced by a different model during the period that the boy supported the Agents of Chaos and the First Order.

Following his encounter with Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor in 874 ABY, the boy began to have a crisis of faith. As a result, he began to carry this lightsaber again. Perhaps as a reminder of the Jedi he had been.

And to help frame the question of who he was now.
